He knocked down more passes than some of our DB’s.
Change “some” to “all”, then you got it.
He knocked down more passes than some of our DB’s.
Unless he transfers to Ohio State or Michigan. Then he gains immediate eligibility. He has to sit a year out right?
Not all that surprising I guess.
If Hamler leaves for the draft, there is a giant hole at WR.
I think it’s the pattern you call for the kid on the playground where you say, “Go deep..... no, keep going.... keep going..... keep going” before you play with the guys you really to play with.Is this a new pattern for our WRs?
Pretty soon, I would imagine. How long until Slade signs up for the portal
Yeah he's the dickCongrats.... you win "Dick of the Day"
In the meantime..... when Shorter goes elsewhere, and becomes a significant contributor to a sensible offense, who's "fault" is that?
And why did an offense loaded with more "blue chip" skill players than it has ever had - - - - - at least according to the recruiting guru masturbators - - - - - now, for the last two years, repeatedly tripped over its own dick?
There ain't no fixing stupid... not when it is adamant.
It does not get better until rahne goes into the portal.
I assumed he was already gone. No place for him next year. People went nuts over the rotation. There should be nary a whimper when he leaves. How long until Slade signs up for the portal
Might want to add there is also the actual coaching aspect of the position in play here. another on the job trainee with no real resume no? I guess you get what you pay forCongrats.... you win "Dick of the Day" (Though you are sure to face heavy competition wrt this topic)
In the meantime..... when Shorter - like JJohnson - goes elsewhere, and becomes a significant contributor to a sensible offense, who's "fault" is that?

But. but, but.....it seems so easy to blame everything on coaching.....yet we wonder why our coach may be looking around.I hate to say this but my first reaction is "fvck 'em... see ya". I can blame a ton of stuff on coaching, but a continued inability to catch balls that hit you square in the hands is not coaching.
Yep, tired of coaches who teach drops. LOLMight want to add there is also the actual coaching aspect of the position in play here. another on the job trainee with no real resume no? I guess you get what you pay for

His injury last season hindered development...Expectations. Remember when he signed with PSU and the staff said that he might have been the most advanced high school WR they'd ever seen?
of course they dont teach drops that's stupid statement in and of itself.. but they do teach other things like technique which can lead to drops, how come he didn't high point the ball in the Minny game.. what you do in a game is a reflection of practice and practice habits. Who runs practice?Yep, tired of coaches who teach drops. LOL
The plea for immediate eligibility will likely cite several BWI posts!Shorter’s plea for immediate eligibility will reportedly be based on the fact that The Creamery is not open 24 hours a day.
The NCAA will reportedly approve his request as soon as Emmert returns from his Thanksgiving dinner with Delany at Freeh’s place.
I wish him well no matter what he decides, but I hope he stays at PSU. If he leaves, I would not be surprised to see him thrive in another offense. Again, expectations - fans expect immediate and impressive results when a player comes in with high praise. In Shorter's case the praise was high indeed. This is why depth is so important...
His injury last season hindered development...
I believe it was Midnighter that posted that a respected PSU media member cited a tentativeness that hasn't gone away post-injury.
Fortunately for Shorter (and unfortunately that PSU is losing him) it is probably only a matter of time before his concern about re-injury disappears, allowing the talent that many had assessed to once again surface and shine. There is no guarantee that it will ever happen, but it is nevertheless reasonable to expect that it will.
Concerning size and speed, the posts about lack of speed are perplexing considering that there were plays that he outran a "fast" PSU ball-carrier (was it Ford?, was it Dotson?) to make a block downfield...
Concerning drops, it was basically one game (MN)...besides that one game it is unclear when all of the other purported oft-referenced "drops" occurred.
If it makes people feel better everyone is free to opine about how bad of a player 15 has been, but besides the injury-plagued redshirt season and the lack of targets (whether due to not getting open or whether due to QB maturation), the level of criticism of the player seems disproportionately high.
Interesting since he finally played okay last week. Here we go.......

Agreed. There is something fundamentally wrong with a player who quits on his team with 1 game left in the season. If he wanted to leave after Rutgers, who cares? This is how it is. Doing it now, is pure BS.I hate to say this but my first reaction is "fvck 'em... see ya". I can blame a ton of stuff on coaching, but a continued inability to catch balls that hit you square in the hands is not coaching.
don't have to explain anything sometime players rise above their coaches and are just players... geniusExplain Hamler, genius.
To be fair this may be the lethal combination of Shorter just not having the skills to compete against the B10's best CBs, his high personal expectations given his recruiting stars, Clifford's stalled development when it comes to going through progressions, and people pointing out PSU's offensive scheme/coaching deficiencies. Surprised he didn't enter the portal sooner. Won't be surprised when others join him there from that side of the ball.

I forgot the players just show up and the coaches have nothing to do with their development--they all already diamonds. LOL
We all know the player is to execute, where were you when Giesecki(sp) dropped all those balls early in his career? in addition to his continued work to get better pray tell who helped him get better or more importantly how to get better. I doubt he did it all on his own.
I agree. Talk about disrespecting the seniors to be recognized this Saturday. You want to transfer...why not at least wait till next week? For him to do it now suggests he’s really pissed off about something, IMO.If he wants to go, he wants to go.
But walking out on his teammates before the season ends is a horseshit move on his part.
