Football Smell the Roses! Penn State headed to Pasadena for a matchup with Utah

Did anybody watch the Utes this year? What can we expect? I watched a couple of games last year and they played very well.

Hard nosed, physical team, I would call them "Michigan lite" in how they play. Strong play in the trenches, quarterback who can extend plays and move well enough when needed, sneaky good passing game. Defense is good overall, but struggled at times this year without more explosive offenses.

Thank you.

They have a lot of big guys who are of Pacific islander ethnicity and they are older and more mature than most teams, much like BYU.

It will take the best effort we have to just hang with them. If we don't bring our A game it could easily get ugly. Michigan lite was the best description. I hope Franklin and the boys embrace the challenge as an early statement about what 2023 is going to be about.

Their offense is nothing special. And they play in the Pac 10, so their defense will be exposed.

No sense PSU shows up. Geez. Utah played great against USC but they lost 3 games including one to Florida.

I think you're overacting to my comment. They are a solid team and will give us their best shot. We can play with them and beat them but we need to be sharp. I like a challenge and Utah will be that. We haven't had many signature wins lately. I hoping this is one to get us rolling in 2023.

Utah is 3-1 over Meatchicken all time. Harbaugh's 1st game as HC was at Rice-Eccles. It did not turn out well for him, the Harbus was pantsed. Having said that, you are spot on, hard nosed physical team. Comes on strong later in the game when their physicality wears opponents down. "The week after Utah" is a thing for a reason. For those of you who weren't around when this was the McAndrew board, grew up a PSU fan, but attended Utah...
