Football Smith Vilbert out for the season

Bound to happen. Bummer for him because he only played in bowl game last season after sitting during regular season. Now will be missing second straight season. Fortunately this year there is more depth. Next man up.
Yes. It is a huge disappointment for him I am sure. Hope he makes good decisions going forward. I am sure with this team and staff he will be supported and encouraged.

This opens up a spot on the 3rd unit DE position..hopefully Smith comes back strong next season where we will need him most.

Does Vilbert now have to petition for another year of eligibility?

He has an NFL body. Hope he can come back next season when likely Chop and Isaac are gone and truely get significant snaps and show his stuff to the NFL scouts as well as contribute to PSU wins.

Diaz in today's PC talked DE's all the way to Fisher as theh 5th DE right now.

This may give a player such as the true freshman Lyons an opportunity to play and possibly not redshirt. Not that I have any info or insight but Lyons has been mentioned as having the most B10 ready body among the true freshmen DE's.

What a shame for VS. If only he hadn't gotten into the doghouse, he might be in an NFL camp right now.

Now his career is in dark limbo.

Looks like Ohio St has matched us.

DE Omari Abor just completed successful surgery. He was a four-star prospect and the No. 73 overall recruit in the Class of 2022, per 247Sports. He was the No. 8 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 13 player from the state of Texas.
