Spencer Lee

"I never said anything about PSU inventing wrestling or moves. What I said was, and I'll reiterate it, is that the PSU program is putting guys out on the mat who are having immediate success."

Jrd..... I believe PSU is reinventing the sport of wrestling. Their relentless aggressiveness and full gas tanks harken back to a bye gone era where wrestlers were more active as were the refs who called stalling and kept the match going!

I think Iowa has been trending that way again and there are teams with some high motor guys scoring at a good clip but too many officials continue to fear injecting life into the sport by not being willing to ding the culprits that do little or nothing.

"Oh damn!!!!" The sound coming from Trinity's 120 pounder who FR faces tomorrow in the WPIAL team duals. No idea if Spencer is wrestling or not, but it looks like he could be if he's cleared.

Spencer's nationally ranked teammate, junior Gus Solomon, will miss the post season for the third year in a row due to injury. The last two years he was a contender for PIAA gold. From what I read, its just been bad luck with injuries. Reminds me a bit of Mark Angle. Mark, however, was #1 ranked in the state his frosh, soph, and junior years before getting injured at (or just before) the PIAA tournament all three years. Mark won it his senior year, so maybe Gus can do the same.

Beyond all that, implying that Pennsylvania Wrestling and Pennsylvania wrestling fans are newbies or "Johnny come lately" wrestling fans is rather ridiculous given that Pennsylvania-product high school wrestlers have been dominating the NCAA for a long, long time.

Shhh...We are still just practicing this thing called wrestling in Pa, most of us don't understand it.
