Very possible.Speaking of JoeMo, does he make a run at Tommy? Looks like they have a soph with almost no experience listed as the starter

Flounders' post-BW-game video had an interesting observation. Flounders had a hunch that if Clifford got to start for PSU that he wasn't going to relinquish the job. Flouders has seen a lot of all the QBs and Clifford has something.
I've been a little bit of a skeptic about Cliff because he is just immobile enough to be a big sack producer. Protection has to be really good or receivers have to get open almost immediately. But if protection is good, the guy throws a beautiful long ball -- he could be another Kerry Collins type. He can make a lot of throws that McSorley couldn't, and that changes the way secondaries have to play PSU.
Now that Levis is the second-most-senior QB, he'll be a lot of people's favorite -- but he's been my favorite for a while. Levis (reportedly) has really good foot speed AND a really good arm. Levis is the closest thing to being able to run the offense the way McSorley ran it. I don't think Stevens ever proved himself as a consistent thrower, and Cliff is a little too much of a statue for my taste. (and I hasten to add I would love to be wrong about this)
Until we hear both sides (and we may never), it is all speculation.I wish TS well. I'm disappointed in his decision. If he thinks that CJF should hand him the job, then he's just not realistic. Even if Sean were to win the job he'd be a contributing factor and one play away from being the starter. I have no idea what his options may be going forward. MAC school, lower P5? But again wish him well.
Could also be seen as a positive as no job is guaranteed and best players will play. It's a shame, I was really looking forward to seeing Steven's play. Clifford may show glimpses of greatness, but you never really know until they face adversity, on and off the field.
Like it or not, this is going to send a message to current and future QBs. Wait your turn at your own risk, nothing is guaranteed. End result is loyalty buys you nothing. Welcome to the real world.
I think best for the team is a healthy Tommy Stevens starting in 2019. If Franklin wasn't going to start him this year he shouldn't have convinced him to come back as insurance just so we could go 9-4 last year.IMO, Franklin is doing what's right for the team, and Tommy just learned a lesson he will never forget.
I really, really wish him the best.

Very possible.
And Athletic DirectorsNow if the same rule could only apply to assistant coaches.
We saw some things from Tommy that showed he could be a great QB. I am thinking of passes he threw in BW Game a few years ago, his running abilities, etc. I was high on him having a great '19 season.
But ... So much for loyalty. How could TS expect to be a leader now that he has entered the portal. This squad needs standup leaders. Guess now that the doctors and trainers have him healthy loyalty does not matter to him and his dad.
This transfer portal is so bad for college football and may be really bad for some guys as well. Guess NCAA football has reached the business end of the game and no longer is about good ole state. imo The NCAA has screwed up badly with this rule.
Wish him luck in his future.
That Penn State is now like everybody else and loyalty is out the window? What lesson is that?

It isn't even Monday morning. How can you tell him he's the starter with all the practice time he's missed? And, I'm pretty sure CJF didn't know a year ago that we'd be 9-4 in 2018.I think best for the team is a healthy Tommy Stevens starting in 2019. Not if you were on my team.True, as much as we’d like to think otherwise.
Rather see a pure passer than a pure runner at QB. Didn’t see the Clemson QB run that many designed runs last year. Important games are won via the pass.

yes.....grad transferCan Stevens play in 2019 if he does transfer?
It does apply. It is not like the old days when Jay had a job.
So in his stead let's put in the guy who's had shoulder surgery and has relatively little running behind a so-so line. He does throw a nice deep ball, but I'll be holding my breath every time he gets sacked or pressured.Tommy. Just. Can’t. Stay. Healthy.
I feel bad for him. He’s been a real team guy. He deserves his shot. It is unfortunate.
I think Clifford might prove to be better than both of them in the end, but I still think Tommy is the best bet for this fall. I hope he stays.
Sacca has a great arm but never made a needed pass to win a close game. Thought Tinny’s Decisions and reads in the rpo were not good. Wanted to win ever play with his own feet.Clifford has the best arm of the 3. That should be known by every fan at this point.

Which raises the question:
Which is the strongest guarantee of success:

Take it up with the coaching staff.normally that is true, BUT the current OFFENSE is based on a QB who is a major run threat. notice any game where Trace was less than 100% we had big problems. even with SB here we needed TM legs in many games.
Where does this crazy idea that Clifford is a statue come from? The kid is an excellent athlete. He’s more than capable of tucking the ball and running.
He did have some but point taken (that said, he looked atrocious against Pitt and Michigan early on...can’t count on those planets aligning too often)
Just curious exactly when you thought Stevens should have played.
You certainly made a strident point that you felt he should have been - and that there were bountiful opportunities that were bypassed.
My guess was that you had no idea WTH you were talking about , but I figured I would ask to see if you did.
Apparently, my instinct was correct
But, yeah, I can live with that.
I don’t think this (unbelievable) means what you think it does...Wow. Unbelievable.
