Stroud out vs Akron

May I ask you a sincere question?

If you think I’m out of line please don’t answer but all I can say is that I’m genuinely interested in your response.

If coaches and players at OSU are seemingly replaceable and the sole purpose of the program are the results on the field, isn’t it just like rooting for a pro team for OSU fans?
Half way, yes. On the other hand, many of the players are really decent, very hard working people. Demario McCall, for instance, is a very quick former runner with poor hands who could play at 90% of the colleges in US. When asked this fall in a video why he stayed at OSU this year to try to play cornerback in his 6th year, he said he loves OSU and stayed for the brotherhood. Also, episodes like Nick Bosa taking it to Baker Mayfield after sacking Mayfield in 49ers game against Cleveland and mocking Mayfield running around with a flag at the horse shoe. To this point it seems like a substantial majority of players at OSU, including big time pros, are very loyal to OSU and appreciate their experience. Even Joe Burrow was very happy with his OSU experience and what he was taught.

The sole purpose of the program is not the results on the field. Meyer's real life Wednesdays is a very serious program designed to help players after football ends. https://www.on3.com/teams/ohio-stat...ate-urban-meyer-real-life-wednesday-job-fair/ Also, Kamryn Babb (a receiver with about 4 acl tears) was named a captain this year even though he has about zero chance of making the field.

On the other hand, with NIL I wonder how loyal players can and will be. For instance, when Miyan Williams made an 80 yard run in the first game this year, my first thought was that he just made $10,000.

To summarize, at least before NIL, mostly very good, hard working people at the top of their game. Whether you call them pros or students, I don't care. Don't know whether the past good qualities of the players will continue under NIL.

Personally, I think virtually all universities are cesspools of groupthink and I have very little loyalty to OSU as an academic institution and think it is just as bad as Yale, UC Berkeley, Evergreen or whatever university you want to name.

So he's not really "out", he's basically 3rd string, but just for this game. I smell a mess.....

My interpretation is that he simply has a somewhat sore shoulder and they are giving it a rest. Stroud has had a lot of opportunities to take off and run and hasn't done so, which indicates to me he is protecting his shoulder. Post game Tulsa he did say his shoulder was bothering him.

That works very well...until Miller goes 12 for 13 for 270 yards in the first half.

That very well could be an issue. I agree. However, at least during spring practice game McCord was the better player than Miller. Also, possible that whoever plays has a bad game -- neither of Stroud's backups has thrown a pass in a regular season game.

Who is starting? Miller or McCord?

Seems like OSU's backups have a tendency to come in and light things up (Barrett, Jones, ...). Here's hoping this year is different.

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses
Won’t matter if the pill is thrown end over end…those freaked receivers catch everything
If Ohio State couldn't beat Akron without throwing a single pass........I'd call myself a fanboy and apply for membership in the BWI CAC.
