Super Tuesday Match Thread - NLWC event - Feb. 23rd - 6 PM

That said, Dake last night was very boring. Especially in the Nolf match. I know freestyle rules are different, but I don’t understand rewarding a guy for not taking a shot for several minutes.
I have to say that 4 point move was pretty amazing. I thought for sure Jason would get 2, or at worse the action would go out and maybe one for Jason, I never expected 4 for Kyle. His strength is certainly impressive.

I think TangSoo took it with him when he left.
TangSoo used to be a farmer. He had to quit because he shot every last foal because they could not stand up straight. :)

These events just seem to get better and better and are being embraced by all. Could there be a league in the very near future? let's hope so. Expect them to open up to the public once CoVid restrictions are reduced. The NLWC has found their venue for these events with a chance to expand to bigger events with fans.

Never quite understood this opinion.

2012-2013: 37-0, 9 Decision (including one at 174), 7 Major, 3 TF, 18 F 75% bonus rate, led NCAAs in pins

Extremely boring?
True -- for his SR year.

Other years, less so.

I would like to have back the 10 min of my life wasted on the Dake-Molinaro match at the Scuffle. Not because Frank lost. Because it was boring by 1-0 match standards.

GantryZ, I think the tip Cup/Button became disabled from the glitch.

It is a shame as when I was out walking and watching the undercard, I thought tips were over $500. So not have it around for the main card cost the NLWC some serious $ as the event went on.

I wonder how the tip system works? 100% for NLWC or split in some fashion.

The tip function is working today ...just left a $10 tip...well worth it for the quality of wrestling we saw last night. Sorta like going out for a meal ...the lineup is like the menu ...the tip is for outstanding meal and service ..and the matches were outstanding. I was looking for the tip function last night also and didn't find it.

Guys like dake Snyder Taylor nolf zain nickel and even dean are at such a higher level than other wrestlers
Not everyone can be world champs... we are living through a golden age of amateur wrestling and a lot of it has to do with Cael and what he has done with the sport in Pa.. We have been spoiled in HV. Hopefully it will elevate to a platinum age real soon as all of the ingredients are there for it to do so. Wrestling Mt. Olympus can be Happy Valley for all three levels of the sport... high school, college, and international levels.

Junior year, as best I can reconstruct, he was 35-0 with 13 Decision, 5 Major, 1 TF, and 12 F (can't find the rest of his results) for about a 60% bonus rate. For his career, he had a 4.106 dominance ranking (behind Yianni and Gabe Dean at Cornell).

I don't have the data for his FR and SO years, but my guess is they were fairly similar. However, one needs to remember that a fair amount of the majors, tech falls and falls Dake had were against Ivy League competition, which isn't exactly Big Ten level. My guess is if he had wrestled 4 years in the Big Ten his dominance ranking would be a good bit lower. Most of us remember his "big matches" at Nationals being low-scoring, defensive bouts that weren't exactly thrilling to watch.

Senior year at NCAAs: D M T D D (you probably remember the last one)
Junior year at NCAAs: F F F D D
Sophomore year at NCAAs: M M D D D (you probably remember that last one, too).
Freshman year at NCAAs: D F M D D

That's a 45% bonus at NCAAs., and a dominance ranking of 3.7. Not quite low-scoring, defensive bouts?

As far as I can reconstruct, Dake never lost to a B1G wrestler (going like 22-0?), with one pin, two majors, and one TF. A surprising number of those matches were against highly ranked guys, it seems.

Personally I think it was just strength and experience and not really anything that remarkable. I don't recall the opponent, but I do recall Ed Ruth getting elevated repeatedly like that and having his ass handed to him in one freestyle match, only to rectify that weakness VERY quickly after the match (and if my memory fails me and this isn't accurate, my apologies, but I suspect someone will remember the match that I'm describing).

I don't follow JR High much. Only what I see in headlines.

The headline I'm aware of: Perry pinned PA AAA 106 champ Vinny Kilkeary at this fall's PA Power Wrestling event.
Renovo boy right. He will be wrestling for biff walizwr next year I think

So Dake had 8 decisions in his 4 semis and 4 finals matches. I’m no stat guy, but I’d be curious to know if DT, Ruth, Zain, Nolf, and Bo had 8 combined?

Boring doesn’t mean “not great.” There’s 0 doubt of Dake’s greatness. I just enjoy the guys who are constant action. Give me college Spencer Lee over college Dake any day. It doesn’t make him better, but it’s better to watch 😂.

I wasn’t doubting Dake’s 4 point throw last night. It was perfection. I just wish he hadn’t put the car in cruise control with the whole 2nd 3 mins to go. He’s so good, he could’ve teched Nolf if he tried. He was content being up 5-0 Or whatever it was. I like guys who aren’t content until they break their opponent.

It doesn’t ??

When Lee runs the table he will be a CLEAR #2 GOAT.

Well, if he follows in his cousin's footsteps, we would see him here at Mizzou (and that seemed to work out pretty well for J'Den)
Yeah, but if he chose PSU he could match J'Den in individual titles and one up him with 4/5ths of a handful of national team championships.
