Tampering

And think about this…….honestly…..do you really think he’s that stupid? Seriously. Makes no sense.

but then, I guess, there are a lot of things in life that don’t make sense. But you probably already know that.

Not stupid. Self-important. He is the author of the masterpiece 3 inch binder, taught the coaches how recruiting works, and feels a responsibility to keep his hawks a top 3ish team.

Educated, intelligent people do stupid every day in every facet of life.
To believe there is nothing to the smoke requires a lot of rationalized reasoning and some serious flexibility to stretch that far. Accepting the smoke is connected to the fire is not the aspect of this conversation requiring mental gymnastics.
But who knows, maybe Coe College is seriously interested in the academic and physical well being of all the student-athletes contacted through family members by Coe College administrator Larry Lee.

You should unban him then raffle off letting someone from the HR to re ban him..
At least it would be some entertainment that isn't so painful??
After the auction he would have the chance to donate to the HWC a matched amount to remain unbanned.
Or, they could use it to chip away at the $100,000 Woods deal.

Idk Pat, but I know where my allegiance is….

look, we don’t have a history. We should keep it that way. All I know about you is what I’ve read.

Mike

well, that didn’t take long! Starting to sound like my favorite board!

Hey man, no beef here! I’m just sayin… This isn’t a random tweet. It’s something that was revealed to many people and yes, I do grind that ax lol so I’m the one who kind of dropped more detail on it because I don’t care about offending a Hawkeye. 😂 but rest assured, others know.

That’s why I didn’t answer the 27 missed calls (no exaggeration)… I wanted to text and he kept saying “why won’t you talk to me” and I said, “well I am… why won’t you answer the question here?” Lol. Not gonna let someone who did pre-plan calling twist words on the phone when I know what happened and can control that convo via text. In end , he broke. His main concern after all of this? “Who put you on me?! Tell me who now? Who?”

Caring more about the source of so-called “false information” than anything else.

He wouldn’t do well in a police interrogation room, I’ll tell you that much.

…and the Icing n cake. He went guilt trip mode and said “I just talked to Spencer, he’s not happy at all. Also we were shocked you released his surgery and season ending stuff”… #diversion

Mineo. MINEO! It's me, Larry. Yeah. Spencer Lee's Dad. Pick up the phone. MINEO!

Yes, I actually know parents can be this stupid. It's the same reason politicians use email and social media as if can simply be deleted. Folks rarely know when to stop. I mean, come on, look at what real life famous parents did for their kids at fookin Stanford. Not only that, they wrote checks!

Maybe not stupid, arogant or desperate.
they are trying to create a new Iowa, spencer is the center of it. I’d imagine many here would make stupid decisions to help their kids in life.

Help them in life? Teach them how to become scum? Monumentally stupid. Teach them integrity and personal responsibility. Nowhere to hide as a wrestler. Lead by example.

First time I watched that movie I was with MrsPA, and another couple. I was laughing my ass off, and they were all stone-faced. I had to finish watching it after they were gone. They couldn't sit through it.
Have you seen the FX TV series? Pretty good, really. It's an "anthology" style, so each season mostly has new setting/characters.

I doubt they are seeing it that way.
Just because there are scummy moments doesn’t make someone scum..
Unless they like Ohio then yes they are
Doing scummy things does not make someone all scum, but children often learn more from what we do than from what we say. Do as I say, not as I do." A very damning phrase.

A big reason I follow PSU wrestling is the integrity of the people involved. They win with class and take responsibility for their losses. Maybe I'm being too much of an idealist. We also make the best cynics.

Larry in 2nd row on phone.
Hey, Mr Dean, haven’t talked in awhile.
Mr-Who’s screaming? Is someone being assaulted?
No, no, it’s nothing. Was just wondering how Max is doing. Healthy? Happy?
Mr-Uhh, yeah, he’s a little banged up, thanks for your concern. Happiest he’s ever been. Loves it at PSU, the coaches, team….
Yeah, I gotta go, bye. Click

This stuff is pure gold.

All serious thou Mineo better never show up to any wrestling events because he is public enemy #1 to Iowa and it’s on sight with Larry Lee
If there is anything we have learned in the last few years ....it is that it is never the fault of the doer of the bad deeds......the vitriol and anger always gets aimed at those who expose the doer of the bad deeds.

This is what happens when you have two midwits leading a multimillion dollar operation. Complete chaos under contract for the next decade. You ain't seen nothing yet.

A recent post stated that in every one of his media interviews, Tom Brands is “sweating with desperation & paranoia.”

Said it before & say it again: If it wasn’t for wrestling, Tom would be a HS gym teacher and & Terry would be in a mental institution.

I'm sure Spencer's dad just desperately wants his last year to end with a National Individual and team Championship. So anything he does can be excused by the "I love my child" law. You are allowed to violate rules and laws if they impede getting what you want...right? I have been watching the news closely :)

Anyone who truly believes (and most of the HR posters do) that LL called an “old friend Willits” (who by the way, I was told by Oregon State coaches- they aren’t close friends at all) and called O’Connor’s family to “talk about his acl” is so naive. HR wants to frame it up as some vendetta and rumor I made up against Iowa. The kids and families told their coaches what was said… If they were such good friends why would they do that? It’s because it was shady. And it got out.

Why would a normal phone call be discussed and become what it is now? It’s because it wasn’t a normal call- he was trying to gauge interest and set up meetings and direct them to the portal. These are the facts… They can play the “old friend” and “check on ACL” card all they want. If it was a normal convo then life would have carried on normally- but it didn’t and the coaches were told about it and reported Iowa to NCAA. That’s why this story is out there. How and why would I know about some random friendly phone call? Sometimes people from Iowa lack common sense, maybe it’s the education system there.

He tried to be slick and made a “friendly call” to gauge their interest and fill the holes in lineup- it backfired because even if he knows those families, they still have loyalty to their programs and coaches and respect them enough to tell them about what happened. And that’s why it’s out there…

I mean, his reaction alone was the most insane thing I’ve ever seen. It’s because he knows what was said and knows it’s shady. You call a guy 27 times, demand who leaked that info (even tho it’s apparently not true?), then claimed he was gonna report those coaches of those programs because he said they must have told me… For what? Not wanting their wrestlers to be tampered with? He called Coleman Scott 4 times after ringing me 20+, and accused him of telling me, but I thought I made it up? Lol all actions of a guilty man who wants the team title for his son’s final year.

Period.

Alright - I need you guys to work with me here. Now the rumor is that Larry called O’Conner’s parents to commiserate with them about knee injuries and offer his support (and not about the portal or recruiting goddammit!). I think he was pursuing an analogous variant of a strategy described in zoology as the “Sneaky ****er Strategy” (no joke). This is a sexual selection strategy which argues that “A lower-cost alternative mating strategy, useful to bachelors without a harem, is kleptogyny or the "sneaky ****er strategy", sneaking in to mate while the harem owner is distracted: in the case of red deer, when the harem stag is involved in a fight with another older stag.”

Anyway, the classic example in humankind is the “helpful” guy who commiserates with the hot chick who just got dumped - hoping to slide on in due to being such a “nice guy”.

In this pre-portal poaching context, I see Larry using the shared knee injury angle as a pretext to getting what he really wants - that is, filling a gaping hole in the Hawk lineup.

To judge his sincerity, I would like to know if he also called the parents of other young men who suffered knee injuries - BUT AT weights where the Hawks are set. Something to ponder 🤔
@PatMineo22 - related to your mic drop post. Larry was trying to be a Sneaky ****er and it backfired

For the sake of argument, assume for a moment that everything you wrote is true. Will it ever come out publicly that it happened the way you say or will it forever be a he said vs. he said unproven allegation?

Let's see how talkative Chris Pendelton is on FRL Tuesday. But I'm sure the hard charging journalists at FLO will ask some zinger questions....not.
Bottom line. If the coaches at OSTU and UNC are tight lipped it will die a slow death.

This is not a work of fiction. It is the only plausible sequence of events. Nothing else makes sense. Parents were approached and it wasn't well received.
Someone tell me a complete narrative from start to finish explaining how Pat got wind of 2 conversations between friends. You simply cannot.

I’m just waiting to see if they have the balls to talk about it on FRL next week.

The only way he gets the team wish is if Cael cooperates and benches the upper half of his lineup.
