What was his thoughts on checking the oil?this is irrevalent but did anyone watch flo last week when they were talking about the guy that grabbed the other one by the groin and pulled and they said how wrong that was.Well my coach in high school first thing he says is when on top grab the family jewels and squeeze! any thoughts??
That’s an insult to buckets of shit! And this is the program that their fans tried telling us are so upstanding and righteous that they weren’t interested in Aaron Brooks because his dad wanted a pay day.
Iowa fans over on HR are nothing but buckets of shit. And Gobblin… if you’re wondering… I’m looking right at you pal!
This, no one is going anywhere without money. Cenzo is about the only honest person out there. I hope he keeps his job.FIFY - you missed the key to the whole exchange.
Not really….it’s just a bit more above board now., instead of below board. This has reached a whole new level.
Gobblin doesn’t like me…..that’s ok, I kinda still like him. He sticks to his values. He valued putting me on ignore more than trying to understand why I feel the way I do about SOME Iowa wrestling fans. He may fall into that category though so it’s probably best he doesn’t have to listen to my opinions. I should probably reciprocate, but I won’t.That’s an insult to buckets of shit!
Not really….it’s just a bit more above board now., instead of below board.
everybody’s up in arms because Larry Lee spoke to somebody he knows. Big deal! There’s nothing to say that a conversation was had about one kid or another changing schools and going to Iowa. And even if there was, how is that an NCAA violation? The rule, for the NCAA, is if you are a booster you cannot have contact with potential recruits.
how do I know this? Well back in 2002, I used to write for this network. I was a booster. And then some dick wad from Kentucky, who was a booster and wrote for this same network, got caught arranging shady deals with potential KY recruits. Rivals instituted a rule that said if you are a booster, you are no longer a paid contributor! So, my boy blue cost me a part time gig that enjoyed quite a bit! There’s a lot more too it than that, but, bottom line, he did me a favor. I stopped worrying g about writing and started dishing competitively. So, I guess I owe him a thank you for being a shady, back alley, POS as it got me into something I enjoy more!

Mike: I’m pro innocent until proven guilty. And I wish we could get more reporting on this with statements from all. My only question would be if it was just two old buddies chatting, how does it get to Mineo? Not really….it’s just a bit more above board now., instead of below board.

Head is definitely not in the sand. If you think PSU, or Arizona State, or North Carolina State, or Ohio State doesn’t have a network of people out there doing their bidding, you’d be wrong. Everybody is doing it, some are just better at it than others
Parents are horrible in every sport. I won't weigh in on what was said, but most parents want their kid's programs to do well. This isn't rocket science. To be clear, I have no idea what happened.
That said, is there a rule saying a parent of a student-athlete can’t reach out to parents of another student-athlete and say anything about how good they would have at their school?
Some folks might not like it, but I find it hard to believe there’s a rule against it and that it hasn’t been happening for an eternity in a zillion college sports.
As an aside, and again - no idea what happened - but how would Mineo even find about such a call?
They have mods? Who knew?A Fist Full of Hawkeyes said:
“Of all the stupid sh*t that could have and should have been deleted off the cesspool. The one thread that should stay, goes.
I don't get it.
What the hell are the admins doing or thinking? They picked a rather odd time to step in.”
PAHURDLER: “Maybe Larry called their parents.”
Lmao. Now that’s some grade A trolling folks.
Why is it our business? Why isn’t that left up to the coaching staffs and the universities?Mike: I’m pro innocent until proven guilty. And I wish we could get more reporting on this with statements from all. My only question would be if it was just two old buddies chatting, how does it get to Mineo?

I don’t know about it being our “business” but rules alleged to have been broken is at least newsworthy to paying customers. If it’s not, then who even cares about the sport? Why is it our business? Why isn’t that left up to the coaching staffs and the universities?
FYI, he was banned by Tom. Now that I'm a nobody, he got banned because he went off the rails and told folks to basically F off. He lies about it constantly, but that's exactly what happened.Paging: Vodka!!!
POTY!IDK, Mineo is younger than the Iowa wrestlers let alone their fans.
Did you post that to HR yet?I found this ad in the paper today, wow! They really are desperate in Iowa City, huh?
https://ibb.co/1sQ4RDm
Meh….really?Larry appears to be one who is not doing it better at the present time.
I’ll go with the newsworthy aspect of this. After all, I use to chase it all the time! Now, having said that, and I’m going to qualify this by I was gone all last week, somebody needs to show me something more than a deleted thread on Hawkeye report that says there’s been a violation and a report that went to the NCAA.I don’t know about it being our “business” but rules alleged to have been broken is at least newsworthy to paying customers. If it’s not, then who even cares about the sport?
If this was just Mineo’s Twitter feed, it might be one thing. But it’s on the heels of reputable people that cover our sport saying the school was reported for compliance.
Willie and Basch both reported that Iowa and Michigan had been reported. It wasn’t said to be related to what PM has tweeted.I’ll go with the newsworthy aspect of this. Anyone? I’m truly curious at this point. Seriously.
(I can already see a bunch of nits circling in the water on this one)

Damn straight. F Iowa. Here’s my thoughts on it all. I was banned over there countless times…not for breaking rules… but for trying to clean up everything their fans were doing to disparage opposing programs, coaches, athletes and pretty much the sport we all love. Instead of banning the idiots doing it, they decided they’d banthe one person over there constantly trying to clean it up. They’ve accused coaches of cheating, calling certain coaches scumbags for recruiting over kids, parents taking bribes and even student athletes of using steroids…and they did this without one shred of proof any of it was happening. Those people remained while they constantly banned the person trying to stop them from embarrassing the rest of their fanbase.
One by one, what they accused other programs of doing is now looking like their program may have been doing themselves. Had they cleaned out their forum of the shitheads doing all that instead of me, they now wouldn’t have a bunch of fans from other teams trolling them and bringing down the shit storm they deserve.
Ya know what, I’m just gonna say it. Those mods should be over here apologizing to me and granting my username (johnstownsteel) full access to their forum again. I told them their forum was becoming the laughingstock of the internet. I tried my best to stop it. They deserve what they get.
@Mike Zierath
ZMeh….really?
if Larry says he didn’t do it, I’m probably going to side with Larry on this one. Primarily because somebody has an ax to grind, and it ain’t Larry.
Z
Nonsense. This has nothing to do with Larry. I won't mention him or any of this. It's the smallest of potatoes. What's happening is in a whole new level. The SEC is laughing at the rest of the country. Football is king, and the suitors are right out in the open and no one cares. Not really….it’s just a bit more above board now., instead of below board.

Head absolutely in the sand if you honestly believe that the parent of an athlete having a conversation with another schools' athletes or their parents about transferring is not an NCAA violation. By NCAA definition the parent is a university representative.Head is definitely not in the sand. So the athletes and the coaches of the athletes who were contacted are lying? For what motive and reason?Meh….really?

HR Willie? I don’t know the other..Willie and Basch both reported that Iowa and Michigan had been reported. It wasn’t said to be related to what PM has tweeted.
Edit: it wasn’t said to be unrelated either.
Exactly. There’s one person in this whole set of transactions that has a real motive to lie/obfuscate/etc - my $$$ is on the oldster clumsily backtracking on Twitter last nightSo the athletes and the coaches of the athletes who were contacted are lying? For what motive and reason?
It wasn’t that weak Jeff.Head absolutely in the sand if you honestly believe that the parent of an athlete having a conversation with another schools' athletes or their parents about transferring is not an NCAA violation. By NCAA definition the parent is a university representative.
Worse still if the other athlete is not portaled -- in which case the coaching staff is not allowed to contact him either.
For the purposes of this post I'm not saying Lee did those things -- I'm addressing your comment about "if there was such a conversation."
BTW, I was an Alumni Association chapter officer for 10+ years, and took NCAA Compliance training annually as a condition of my position. So I have a pretty good idea of how the NCAA defines a university representative and allowable conduct by a university representative.
PS, weak attempt at whataboutism deflection.
Yes f... Iowa and their fans.Damn straight. F Iowa.
Idk Pat, but I know where my allegiance is….So the athletes and the coaches of the athletes who were contacted are lying? For what motive and reason?
well, that didn’t take long! Starting to sound like my favorite board!Yes f... Iowa and their fans.
He apparently called more than one set of parents, and they or somebody close to them were put off enough by it to put it out there for folks to know. Then to top it off, nobody is coming to Larry's defense.Meh….really?

Sometimes…..the best stories are the ones you can’t report! He apparently called more than one set of parents, and they or somebody close to them were put off enough by it to put it out there for folks to know. Then to top it off, nobody is coming to Larry defense.
You can blow it off as nothing, but it has the appearance of something and my guess is you are wrong.
And think about this…….honestly…..do you really think he’s that stupid? Seriously. Makes no sense. He apparently called more than one set of parents, and they or somebody close to them were put off enough by it to put it out there for folks to know. Then to top it off, nobody is coming to Larry defense.

The thing is, you can argue with their oppinions etc, but there is no escaping the fact that both guys are plugged in. Both guys have a long list of wrestlers, coaches, and related families that talk to them all the time. Pat really isn't a member of the media, which is good and bad. He doesn't follow the same standards of confirmation (and thus credibility) that someone who makes their living in media would need to follow. He also doesn't give a SHIT (which is great!) Willie is in the media. He isn't putting something out there from just one whisper through the grapevine, his credibility and income depend on confirmation. The fact that both of them are hearing, and relaying the same shit is pretty telling.Sometimes…..the best stories are the ones you can’t report!
Pat might be wrong.
Willie might be wrong.
I think it’s probably a safe bet that, if it’s true, we will all hear more from official sources. It is 100% always the case.
Mike
It probably will be a dud, but you better believe the Brands are going to be listening to Tuesday’s FRL with Pendleton. Hopefully Pyles does his job and asks the pertinent questions. The thing is, you can argue with their oppinions etc, but there is no escaping the fact that both guys are plugged in. I think it is a schtick. I think he is a plant to make Iowa fans look bad. For me, that's a best case scenario.Honest question: do we know for sure Ironbird isn’t dealing with a definable intellectual disability? I enjoy a good repartee as much as anyone, but I get the feeling he’s 5 beers short of a six pack.
