everybody’s up in arms because Larry Lee spoke to somebody he knows. Big deal! There’s nothing to say that a conversation was had about one kid or another changing schools and going to Iowa. And even if there was, how is that an NCAA violation? The rule, for the NCAA, is if you are a booster you cannot have contact with potential recruits.
how do I know this? Well back in 2002, I used to write for this network. I was a booster. And then some dick wad from Kentucky, who was a booster and wrote for this same network, got caught arranging shady deals with potential KY recruits. Rivals instituted a rule that said if you are a booster, you are no longer a paid contributor! So, my boy blue cost me a part time gig that enjoyed quite a bit! There’s a lot more too it than that, but, bottom line, he did me a favor. I stopped worrying g about writing and started dishing competitively. So, I guess I owe him a thank you for being a shady, back alley, POS as it got me into something I enjoy more!

Gobblin doesn’t like me…..that’s ok, I kinda still like him. He sticks to his values. He valued putting me on ignore more than trying to understand why I feel the way I do about SOME Iowa wrestling fans. Parents are horrible in every sport. I won't weigh in on what was said, but most parents want their kid's programs to do well. This isn't rocket science.
Why is it our business? Why isn’t that left up to the coaching staffs and the universities?

Larry appears to be one who is not doing it better at the present time.
I don’t know about it being our “business” but rules alleged to have been broken is at least newsworthy to paying customers. If it’s not, then who even cares about the sport?
If this was just Mineo’s Twitter feed, it might be one thing. But it’s on the heels of reputable people that cover our sport saying the school was reported for compliance.
FYI, he was banned by Tom. Now that I'm a nobody, he got banned because he went off the rails and told folks to basically F off. He lies about it constantly, but that's exactly what happened.

I’ll go with the newsworthy aspect of this. After all, I use to chase it all the time! Now, having said that, and I’m going to qualify this by I was gone all last week, somebody needs to show me something more than a deleted thread on Hawkeye report that says there’s been a violation and a report that went to the NCAA.

Head absolutely in the sand if you honestly believe that the parent of an athlete having a conversation with another schools' athletes or their parents about transferring is not an NCAA violation. By NCAA definition the parent is a university representative.
Worse still if the other athlete is not portaled -- in which case the coaching staff is not allowed to contact him either.
For the purposes of this post I'm not saying Lee did those things -- I'm addressing your comment about "if there was such a conversation."
BTW, I was an Alumni Association chapter officer for 10+ years, and took NCAA Compliance training annually as a condition of my position. So I have a pretty good idea of how the NCAA defines a university representative and allowable conduct by a university representative.

He apparently called more than one set of parents, and they or somebody close to them were put off enough by it to put it out there for folks to know. Then to top it off, nobody is coming to Larry's defense.

This is what happens when you have two midwits leading a multimillion dollar operation. Complete chaos under contract for the next decade. You ain't seen nothing yet.
The thing is, you can argue with their oppinions etc, but there is no escaping the fact that both guys are plugged in. Both guys have a long list of wrestlers, coaches, and related families that talk to them all the time. Pat really isn't a member of the media, which is good and bad. He doesn't follow the same standards of confirmation (and thus credibility) that someone who makes their living in media would need to follow. He also doesn't give a SHIT (which is great!) Willie is in the media. He isn't putting something out there from just one whisper through the grapevine, his credibility and income depend on confirmation. The fact that both of them are hearing, and relaying the same shit is pretty telling.
