The Big 12 is !-5 in bowl games. TCU's ranking is ridiculous. They may not even be in the top 5 of the B1G. Further proof that the old MNC process is flawed.

I actually vote they go back to the old way of doing it. Play 11 games and then have the bowl games. More excitement for all the fans. More arguments on who is really the MNC.
No. Tcu has a better shot at NC with your plan. If they are a paper tiger the playoffs will expose them.

Should be an 8 team playoff with winner of each P5 conference.

TCU is a good team but I don't think they belong in the class with the other three. I suspect UM wins easily.

The tOSU vs GA game will be a good one. UM game got away from them when UM broke several big plays in a row and kind of tore their hearts out. tOSU is incredibly motivated and I would not be shocked to see them beat GA.

A UM vs tOSU national championship game?

Jesus wants TCU. I’m on the side of Jesus.

You are free to root for Satan (UM) if you must, but enjoy eternal damnation
Actually, I used to hate Michigan. Harbaugh is one of the most honest, principled, and successful coaches at any level. He lives his values, which do not seem to include GREED, that so many others have.
For me, Iowa, MSU, are the new UM.

Probably not practical, but if we are hell bent on having a playoff to determine a "national champion" (keeping in mind this is and continues to be not an official NCAA championship), I wish we could play the bowl games first and then determine participants. We always have a much better grip of the relatively strengths of teams after bowl games when there are more direct comparisons between conferences and individual teams.

You do realize Alabama would win it every year as long as they won their bowl game despite 2-3 losses.

What we have is not playoffs. When the non-playoffs expands to 12 teams, we still will not have playoffs. Until the power conferences quit the NCAA, realign themselves into 4, 8 or 16 total conferences, with no independents, and stop playing lower teams we simply will never have a legitimate playoff. What we have is no better than what existed in 1990. Actually worse because for an uncertain as the bowl system was, there was far less controversy on a yearly basis than what we have seen since. We don't even need a four team playoff this year.

You can gladly go post on meat chickens board or Bucknutz board. Most posters here root for PSU to win. Not the other teams in the big 2.

I would love to see TCU win this one, but I don't think they will. But upsets do happen. I'll go Michigan by 17.

I think Georgia pounds OSU. Not sure why, other than they are obviously really good. Not terribly impressed by OSU this year. Georgia by 24.

Call me old fashioned but I am not real keen on the play offs. On the other hand the bowl games mean less and less. I know a lot of folks love the idea of being in a play off but I would rather go to the Rose bowl or Orange bowl than go to play at Alabama or Georgia..

Did you enjoy PSU finishing behind Nebraska in 1994?

Of course not BUT in the 2 team championship game would have played Nebraska for the Natty. I would counter by saying if the bowl games were played first and then the top 2 picked
. seldom would the eventual champion feel like it was the wrong team [any time since BCS was started the MNC wasn't accurate?
. an even that occurred one time i my 50 years of watching PSU isn't a reason to switch [and in a 2 team post Bowl match up not even once]
. I understand the ship has sailed i just think some of us may rue the day we have play offs when then the early math ups are all blow outs

All we have ever needed is a situational plus one where by we hold an extra game after the conclusion of the bowl season. During the entirety of the era where the title was awarded after bowl season, a plus one would have definitively resolved the debate 100% of the time.

To the original question, 94 didn't bother me that much because we have a legitimate claim to a national championship just like we do every other undefeated season.

No. It would not solve the problem 100%. There can be three teams that are undefeated or three teams that finish 11-1.

That is what Pitt says and most fans laugh at them.

Where do you file the national championship claim?

Schools should all go to Kinkos and print national championship banners! Since 1900 there would probably be about 400 national champions.

That is a hypothetical. The simple fact remains that teams had an incentive to schedule top teams out of conference prior to this idiotic desire for a "true" (aka less credible) champion and OOC schedule tended to take care of this hypothetical.

No. OOC is ONE variable. Nebraska beat psu in 1994 by running up the score not a better OOC schedule. A tough ooc does nothing if you lose. Some of Pitts "national championship" seasons included games vs psac schools and high school teams.

Your posts are filled with hypotheticals and opinions.

Wow.
I will be ecstatic if I am wrong about this game. However, I won’t start celebrating until the last second is off the clock. Go TCU!
