Thread on testing & treatment research for COVID-19

that would be some crazy best case scenario. correct me if i am wrong but aren't all these vaccines requiring two doses. And don't they have to be kept frozen and once thawed administered within 24 hours. The logistics of that across the country to 330 million people is mind boggling and not going to occur very fast no matter how much everybody wants it. And just the pure manufacturing of that many vaccines in such a short time has never been accomplished or even close. It is going to take a while before all the vaccines are actually manufactured, bottles, shipped, and then given to the population and I don't see any legit way that all happens from January 1 to July 31 like you are saying.
IIRC, not ALL are requiring freezing and two doses. I don't recall the specifics per manufacturer. But some countries have taken these two concerns into consideration when producing their respective vaccines.
There is ongoing research on nanovaccines that could hopefully bypass the need for refrigeration .

Four vaccines are in Phase 3. The Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines are mRNA based requiring subzero storage conditions. The Astra Zeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are adenovirus vectors to present the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 and both are stored refrigerated but not frozen. The Astra Zeneca vaccine will use 2 doses a month apart in the Phase 3 trial while the J&J vaccine is a single dose.

J&J had to pause their trial so they are behind now. I think that Moderna and Pfizer are the farthest along.

Please illustrate with some examples of statements from the article that are false.
Without rereading...

Claims that China was open and allowed the WHO in. Doesn't mention that they refused to allow CDC scientists in.

Suggested that Trump lied about severity. Everybody including Fauci, Redmond, etc. underestimated the risk. Task force held it's first press conference in January, spoke openly, and took questions. What scientists knew was hardly hidden.

Trump has said as recently as 2 weeks ago that the virus is no worse than the flu. The difference between a respectable scientist like Fauci and a Trump is that Fauci changes his mind when he is wrong. Doubling down on an error when you know it is wrong makes it a lie.

Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech both started around July 27 while Astra Zeneca began phase 3 on Sept 1 and J&J around Sept 23. Both Astra Zeneca and J&J trials are on pause in US (Astra Zeneca has resumed in U.K. trials). Pfizer seems to be the closest and then Moderna by a few weeks. Astra Zeneca and J&J probably around 1 - 2 months later even before the trials were paused. Obviously it depends how long the are paused but the best case is for sometime in Q1 of 2021.

Well he did have it so is reporting his experience is a lie? Others have different experiences based on their underlying health issues. Try dropping the political BS for once.

He's not just explaining his experience. He is telling his supporters that a pandemic that has killed more Americans than both sides in combat in the Civil War is just a little flu. So how about YOU drop the political BS and start dealing in facts.

Now if only the FDA would stop holding these vaccine trials hostage like they are with AstraZeneca and now Johnson and Johnson.

Seriously? FDA has been the literal gold standard for the entire world for decades on drugs. You don't screw around with a vaccine that will eventually be given to billions of people. No compromise allowed there.

No, that is not what he is saying. You need to listen to him speak and not listen to how CNN and MSNBC paraphrase him. He is saying be smart, use all possible precautions, but don't let this define you. Live your life.

Both were paused by the companies themselves. J & J was just paused one week ago so entirely premature to know what the impact is yet. FDA isn’t holding either hostage. This vaccines in Phase III now have reached that point faster than any previous vaccine.

FDA is holding AstraZeneca hostage. The trials have continued in the UK and Japan, but the FDA won't let them restart in the USA. It's likely they do the same with J&J

The UK is satisfied to move forward while the FDA wants to see more info about adverse events from other clinical trials using the same adenovirus platform that Astra Zeneca used. Given that the U.K. appears to move forward with human challenge trials it is perhaps not surprising that they have a different risk perspective that the US.

That is not all he has said. He tweets and repeatedly says at his rallies that this is no worse than the flu. Not paraphrasing. Not at all. Check out the fact checkers. Or maybe you don't believe them either.
