Comparing projected NCAA Tournament pts in the preseason rankings to the season ending rankings, PSU was 5th in improvement going from 98 pts to 112.5. Nebraska was #1 improving by 34. Iowa, on the other hand and projected at #2, regressed by 16 pts!
For B1Gs, based on projected seedings, this could be PSUs strongest team in the Cael era. Adding up the seeds, this year’s team totals 30 vs. the 2012 team that totaled 31.
Top B1Gs performance goes to James Vollrath in 2011 going from a 16th seed to a 7th place. Next is Brady Berge in 2022 going from 10th to 3rd followed by Robbie Howard in 2021 going from a 11th seed to 6th.
Using final rankings as NCAA seeds, this years team total has 9 qualifiers totaling 41. That would be second best behind the 2019 team who had 9 qualifiers totaling 34.
