I don't know whether to say that I'm conflicted or that its a win/win for me personally. Pragmatically, I like to see other Big Ten teams win their out of conference games. On the other hand, Michigan is on the short list of teams that I would love to laugh at. My ideal scenario would be Michigan winning all of their OOC games and their game against tOSU, and losing every other Big Ten game.

Well Dan, that's the beauty of hating the entire rest of the BigTen. I am not conflicted in any way. I want Michigan to lose tonight. I want Minny to lose. I want every other BigTen team to lose every out of conference game in every sport from now until the end of the world. And, as an added benefit, if the BigTen teams win, I can say, "Well, at least this may help Penn State". Per my decision a couple of years ago, I am not watching the games, but I do check the scores here, or on line. So far I am a happy guy.

I understand that there is no correlation between you and I rooting for a team to win or lose and the actual outcome... at least not from the comfort of our easy chairs. But having the Big Ten lose all of their OOC or bowl games will bring Penn State down. Why would you want this?

It's a form of tunnel vision or of biting your nose off just to spite your face. I am pulling like heck for Minnesota tonight and most Big Ten teams. I can't root for Michigan maybe not even at gun point though or while being water boarded.

Anyone that doesn't recognize even now that the uptick from OSU winning it all was good for the entire conference on a prestige and recruiting level and even silenced all the SEC talk is just lying to themselves.

The Big Ten is kicking ass this year recruiting and the spotlight on the conference has a lot to do with it. Obviously PSU, OSU and UM will always recruit well.

Because I have never bought the argument that it will bring us down. I have always believed under the new system if we win all our games we will be in the playoffs, regardless of what the rest of the conference does. If we lose 1, I still think our chances are extremely good. We rise, or fall, on our own, just as we always have. If we ever get burned, I may change my views, but until that happens I am absolutely immovable. My hatred for this conference is not hyperbole. It is deep and it is real. As I have said before, the best part about it is I can rejoice at every BigTen loss, but if a Michigan, or a Minnesota, wins, I can always jump to your position and say "Well, maybe it will help Penn State."

Michigan's main issues are already showing up at times. #1 their defense is improved but it looks better than their offense. Utah's D is very good but Michigan is in for a shitty offensive season.

Why would it bring PSU down? My feelings for PSU don't change. Why let some dorky know nothing sports reporter tell you what to think?

I don't care about the rest of the conference l care about Penn State ...the conferance

I like your position gairgambit ...same as mine the big 10 ....they need us, we don't need them...the spelling of your name is wrong, don't know how to correct w this f,en phone

UMich has honestly looked much better tonight than I thought they would. Their QB was declared #2 by Iowa in January, thus his graduation / transfer. He has a load of experience and has the potential to play very well.....and very poorly. Down only 7 going into the 4th in a very tough road opener has to be encouraging to most UMich fans.

I like "gairgambit". I don't know what the hell it means, but maybe I should use it as an alias. If I go over to the Rutgers Board I can call myself "gairgambit".:)

Autocorrect is seriously one of life's hugest bitches. When I was figuring out my new phone a few years ago I spent 45 minutes trying to get "the" to stop saying "there". I turn auto off on everything now. I have sent some innocent texts that autocorrect has made into not so innocent texts. I might have been drunk though.

I care how highly PSU is ranked, what bowl game they get invited to, and want them to have a chance to go to the 4 game playoff someday. I can assure you that all of our potential recruits are about these things as much or more than I do. Having other Big Ten teams undermines all of the aforementioned goals (high ranking, good bowls, playoffs). If you can't see this then you are blind or dense.

The only argument that could be made is that fans at home don't impact the outcome of a game. To say that the end result of OOC games for other big ten teams doesn't impact penn state is crazy.

Totally agree. I'm a basic guy. I type one letter at a time. I don't need no stinkin' program finishing my words.

For example, can't you guys see the benefit of having Minnesota upset #2 TCU tonight? Minnesota gets ranked and the Big Ten West gets some respect. For the rest of the Big Ten, a win against Minnesota then would be much more meaningful and a loss would be less damning.

Are you a masochist? OSU's success does nothing for PSU but hurt recruiting. Plus, the conference officials have cheated PSU repeatedly and their administrators piled on rather than defending us over the Sandusky scandal. So you are going to root for these bums? The B10 is full of sanctimonious midwestern hicks who believe all the hype about their academics and sports and the schools not named OSU or Mich are too dumb to know they are treated like second class citizens.
BTW, if you check the recruiting standing, you will see the Big 10 still lags most of the other major conferences in attracting the top recruits despite what you might believe if you get your football news from the clowns on the lame-ass B10 network.

Dan, logic tells me you are right, but my heart tells me otherwise. Forgetting about all the other crap we went through prior to Sandusky, I will never forget how we were treated by the BigTen, their member schools, and their fans, in our time of need. Instead of offering support, or remaining neutral, they piled on and added to our woes. I have a long memory and I will never cheer for any other team in this conference. They can all go to hell.

No, PSU I think will soon be competing with OSU for titles. A good-really good Big Ten affords you a loss or even two once the field expands for the Playoff.

It's hurting our recruiting? WHAT?! We are winning head to head in recruiting with them for mutual interest guys. Who have we lost because of their success? Guys like Walker were always going there. We have our own Walker on campus already anyway.

If that ever happens I will consider changing my position. I don't think it ever will and I'm not going to cheer for a bunch of aholes just because it may help us in 8 years.

Gus Johnson gets excited about a flag on the onside kick. Yeah, dumbass, that's what happens when you kick it out of bounds.

Love him in hoops but in football it's funny the stuff he yells about. "Oh my, did you SEE THAT?! They just split the running back wide left! Oh man!" He is definitely on speed or something.

Michigan is playing hard. Harder then they ever did under Hoke.

Michigan's progress over the season will be very interesting to watch. Last year's team probably gets bombed going away based on how flat they were under Hoke.

Utah is a decent team in a very tough division, yet if UM has even an average QB performance, decent chance they win. They left a ton of points off the board and then, the pick 6 was the KO.
