Wrestling VIDEO/UPDATES: Cael Sanderson/Greg Kerkvliet Media Availability

I'm of the opinion we lack the vital information to judge the wisdom/timing of Drew hitting the mats for PSU. Holding yourself close to weight (if it is a tough cut) diminishes the body and mind. He isn't needed in these duals so all decisions are being based on what is best for Drew with no thought of team benefit would be my guess. Let him get his sea legs back in the room and bond with team members while adjusting to the weight. He is a very seasoned veteran who doesn't need the constant reps like a first or second year guy....or email Pyles and see if he has a better plan.
I tried reaching out to Pyles to see exactly what the plan is, but he has me blocked.

I guess that means Cael is ok with him going into Big Tens with a limited number of matches. That is most likely going to earn him a low seed.
With Lee out that is much less of a problem.

A wrestlers descent plan can’t be more than 1.5% of total body weight a week

And the problem returns if he doesn’t earn an allocation. He’s good, no question but we’ve won probably as many times as we’ve lost on the late season addition making it to Nationals. I’d rather he wrestle Friday (if his weight would allow)
Ehhhh, this one is a good bit different I’d argue. When have they previously added a returning all-American mid-season who didn’t qualify?

Also, not the best competition this weekend either. Should be 2 wins for him which will definitely help for B1G seeding since it is based upon B1G matches.

I know and I get it. But there is nothing like wrestling to get ready for wrestling.
I agree. I do believe controlled wrestling in a practice room can simulate this safer and in many ways more effectively. Wrestlers who lack feel/experience need a ton of live wrestling to develop, but a guy like DH probably needs far less live wrestling. I'm sure he is excited to walk out in Rec Hall, so if he feels completely ready after the weigh in I think Cael turns him loose. I hope he goes, but handling the final cut and going through the motions of live dual prep a couple of times would benefit him as well.
