Spencer Lee is a lock, and let’s say AB handles his business... not counting potential bonus points, they cancel each other out. Also, Iowa has 4 in wrestlebacks compared to our 2. Let’s use our blue and white glasses and say that they cancel out.

id love to say that RBY, Nick, and Carter all win as well, but they all have tough matchups. RBY beating Fix would give us 16 points. Nick losing to Eireman and Carter losing to Kemever is an 8 point swing to Iowa.

I think we need RBY and at least on of Nick or Carter to win in order to pull out a championship. Am I missing something?

I'm the most positive and biggest PSU wrestling fan alive, but it's over. PSU wrestled great for the most part and did what they could. It's over. Not unexpected and I still like the way PSU handled the championships better than the Iowa guys for the most part but it's over. I'll look for wins today from all of our wrestlers and will be pleased regardless of the outcome if they make a good effort.

Absent the math calculations, and assuming Lee & Brooks hold serve, common sense dictates that any path to victory starts with head to head victories over Hawkeyes by Nick Lee & Carter Starocci.

I'd also assume RBY winning is a must to help offset points from Spencer Lee.

For us to have a “realistic chance” Desanto would have to lose to the 9 seed McGee (very unlikely), Warner to 8 seed Buchanon (possible), and Cass to Hilger (hard to picture, short of injury). All in the consi semis this morning.

Let's take 4 individual Champs, 6 AAs and acknowledge that with the single exception of Berge's injury we as PSU wrestling fans had one helluva good weekend of wrestling.
And Robbie’s. Would like to see him RS next year to heal that shoulder

We got a German Shepard pup a month ago, I had to take her out and missed Howard v MeGee. I know the result, and I read a mention of a possible injury but I haven't seen anything definitive. So I figured if I ignored the possibility of an injury it would not be real. 😉

Most likely way for us to win is for a bad call to go against Spencer, he loses, and then Iowa melts down and loses about 10 team points in the mayhem.

With their matchups I don’t see how it will be feasible after this morning.

And they all would have to pound the mat and violently throw their headgear upon losing each match for ~7 team point deductions.

If we win all six of our matches by decision, Iowa needs a total of 4.0 points out of Spencer, Kemerer, and their four conso wrestlers to win. The team title has been decided... let's win our six matches!

This is a blistering hot take that you won’t get on HR so listen up. This is now about individual success for our boys, but make no mistake, the fact that the door was left open on Friday night will be disconcerting to a fan base that predicted a runaway domination.

Sorry, Warner has 26 seed Woodley, crossed a wire with Beard.

we need Iowa's bus to break down on the way to the arena this morning

So, you are saying that there’s a chance...

If we sweep our 6 matches, Iowa could lose everything until the final match of the tournament and win the team title with Spencer (they're starting at 133 tonight).

RBY beating Fix is worth 4 points. The 12 points for 2nd are added to both wrestler's scores when they reach the final and are reflected in the team scores already.

Honestly, it would not be at all surprising if we end up in 3rd this year. But I’m not stressed, just feelin’ bless’d.
That’s a good rhyme. The best rhyme of the tournament was “unique freak”. I think by goggles.

If we don't have a terrible day, it looks like we'll still finish second. If Iowa really wants to get us Young can let Sheets pin him. ;)

Whatever the outcome there is no doubt that iowa is NOT the favorite moving forward it's wide open. One things for sure Penn Ttate is Friday night lights out every year and Iowa isn't I just want all four to win. We walk away with four champs and I'll be happy in Happy Valley. WE ARE

Good morning everyone. I've never felt so good after losing a team championship as I did last evening, and still do this morning. Here's hoping your evening and morning was/is as bright.

Once it was determined that Iowa's powerhouse team had won the team championship, all that was left was the ten finals bouts, and rooting for RBY, N. Lee, Starocci and Brooks. They did not disappoint and the evening was magical. Of course we were rooting for each guy to win, but thought the law of averages were well against us crowning more than, say two champions. Still, we cheered heartily, and as I've said hundreds if not thousands of times, bouts aren't wrestled on paper. That axiom was proven, and the Lions did something we hoped for, but no one thought likely.

There's a tangible intangible (if that makes sense) that is created within our room that is only measurable once the wrestling is done, and we have the final results. Fix, Eierman, Kemerer and Hidlay are all heckish good wrestlers that "the process" overcame. Doesn't happen every time, as there are losses along the way -- after all, the guy across the mat is also very good. But last night it did, and it was a beautiful thing.
