Who’s coming back

We know Allar is back and that’s huge. Zane Durant is equally important as is DDS. Singleton I thought was gone, but hearing he could be back. King should be back he’s our best LB. We could be loaded for another playoff run in 2025.
If they all come back then yes we will be loaded and primed for another run. I have assumed Singleton and DDS were gone but maybe they do come back.

I thought Sutton should return. I thought King would leave but I hope not.

Another question....how many guys labelled long-term injured come back and come back healthy? Zuriah Fisher, Dohdoh etc. I am amazed by what this team has done with the number of walking wounded it has sustained.

Is Coach AK definitely coming back? I know he turned down or at least dropped out for the WVU job, but will he consider any other major openings after the CFP if there are any? I assume that part of the deal for Allar coming back was AK's commitment to at least one more season with us.

Durant, Ford, and DDS are essential because of the lack of experience along the DL. Getting one of the two RB's back would be a real positive but we have some good young backs in the stable so one of two is critical, both would be ideal. King is a good example of a guy who would, IMHO, benefit from another year and could really boost his stock. I don't see him going Day One. While the secondary is well stocked, Kimber staying would be nice. I really, really hope Dawkins returns. Thought he quietly had a very nice year and will anchor another really solid group.

I am 80 now so I may not relate, but, if I had the opportunity to earn $500,000 to $3,000,000 and enjoy another year at PSU, it would I r be a no brainer. It is guaranteed $. You can insure your financial future. You may not get a guaranteed $ offer or you may not even make a roster. I really enjoyed college, 0 responsibilities, lots of weekend fun with freinds, and a good education. I expect that either or both Singleton and Allen to stay.

Here's a list of where BiG players are projected to go in the draft.

Carter - 6th
Warren - 19th
Sutton - 65th
Winston - 74th
Singleton - 104th
King - 191st
Miller - 306th
Allen - 310th

I'd say Carter & Warren are definitely gone as 1st round picks. Winston already announced that he's leaving.

Sutton is difficult at 65th (late 2nd round, early 3rd round). He could be the big dog at PSU next year with Carter gone. Singleton in the 4th round might be questionable but I think he's gone. King at 191 has good reason to return. Same with Miller who would likely get more PT with Kimber gone. I can't imagine Allen leaving if he's not projected until 310.

I understand that some services rank players much differently and that would impact player decisions. I also suspect that more players will stay because of NIL and the potential for profit sharing in 2025.

P.S. I thought it was interesting that Oregon's Gabriel is projected 268.

I remember a lot of students were anxious to graduate because they wanted to escape the academic pressures. Not me. We had basketball, 2 gold courses, bowling, ice skating, swimming, etc. It was like living at a country club with the cost being tuition & the inconvenience of studying. That seemed like a better option than a 40+ hour per week job.

I've seen Durant projected as high as 2nd round. The negative on him is his size and that's not likely to change with another year. My guess is that he goes unless he gets a nice NIL deal.

Me and most of my buddies took 4.5 years. 83-87 ....5 football seasons. Why not?

One thing the extra semester taught me was that while the setting is the perfect place for 18-22 year olds- the magic is in the people.

We would go to the same bars and fraternities but it wasn't the same. A new crop of folks had taken the places of our friends and acquaintances. It was their turn and we had overstayed our welcome.

Many of our friends moved to NYC, DC, the Burgh and/or Philly and were missing State College terribly. Besides the benefit of another semester with my gf at the time- the clock had struck midnight.

When we left we did so with eyes clearly looking ahead. That extra time in Happy Valley was well worth the money- but we were paying. If we were GETTING PAID we may still be there! : )

Who is getting 3 million?

Now you see why Cam Rising has stayed in college for what, eight years?

I graduated in December ‘70. We were on quarters at the time and I stretched things out to get another football season in. The only thing waiting for me after graduation was the draft.
My older brother graduated first in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences in 1971, in Metalurgy, but no one would hire him due to having a low draft number. He did a tour as an MP at a radar site in Ethiopia, playing softball and acquiring his hunting rifle collection from the PX as well as some trips to the Red Sea. Got out and worked for Bettis on the nuclear submarine propulsion project for a couple years, but has told me they wanted him to go to grad school for a technical masters. He had worked on site in Lynchburg and saved a good bit of money, so instead he quit, went back to PSU and began taking organic chem to round out what he needed for Med School. He also started an MBA at PSU and when he didn't get accepted to med school his 1st symester he dropped the 2nd organic chem class and focused on his MBA. 2 weeks later he was accepted to U of Penn Med School but bagged it, got his MBA and worked for Mellon Bank until he retired at 56 years old. Meanwhile, being 6 years younger, I began at PSU in 1973, and my brother showed up at SC for my Senior year. I was there from Fall 1973 (11-0 and Cappy Heisman) until Spring 1977.

Was a great time to be at PSU, especially in Engineering. I took 11 plant trips and got 10 offers. Only one I didn't get the hiring manager confessed he had to hire a minority.......

Yep, it's a great time but as you stated it was about the people. Your circle of friends. I'm still close with my 3 fraternity room mates although they are scattered.... Iowa, Orlando, Outer Banks/DC.

I graduated in a class of 650+ from a surburban Pittsburgh high school and any walk across campus usually resulted in running into someone from high school. Girl I grew up with was a PSU cheerleader. Lots of my high school friends were in fraternities and also in engineering, which I also was. As a Jr and Sr at PSU I'd be on guest lists of a few other frats and if we didn't have a band that Saturday would end taking a date or my "little sister" and end up where ever the best band was playing...... I remember that one of the other frats their pledges though I was a brother there..... Great bands and fun. But when it's over it's over.....

My Daughter is a Freshman at UP now and it's too funny to hear her talk about stuff there - same as when I was there from many of the Bars and the class rooms - she just had a final in Osmond and told me how crazy steep the room was - I remember that room, it's where I had my Physics class I almost flunked - that 4 credit D hurt but I was done with Physics after that at least. It was almost 6 years of college down the drain.

Had my 13? credits of Physics with lectures at the Forum and then "labs" where ever.... Yes, the bain of my existence while at PSU.....

First rule of Physics: "Everything has to be somewhere"

learned much more from Engineering Mechanics!
First rule of Statics: "You can't push on a string"

See, I did learn something practical from it !!!!!!!!!!!!

I had physics 201 in there as well. Those steps were steep.

Call me spoiled- but once it was clear I was behind in credits- the deal my dad gave me was if I got an internship in my major- paid or unpaid- then he covered the Fall tuition. If I cut grass w my buddies then I paid.

Both of my younger sisters went to private universities that were much more $ than PSU. I picked State over Villanova ( which I had 2 uncles graduate from, and my all boys Catholic high school had a pipeline to- which would eventually include Donte DiVencenzio- in part to "save" money for my sisters.)

In the end it all worked out- but yeah- thanks dad- much happier as a Penn Stater- even if you kinda made "my decision" for me.

Ended up getting a job offer from the internship so I went back to campus all set- which was hard for Advertising majors back then.

I worked at Kinkos to pay my bar tab...good times! 🍻
