Who are the starting seniors for OSU, Iowa and Minny, who will be gone.....

Off the top of my head:

Minn: Dardanes (2), Ness, Storley, Schiller

Iowa: Dzeiwa, Kelly, Moore, Evans, Telford

OSU: L. Steiber, Demas

I'd figure the Buckeyes likely to improve at Hwt though with Haines. Also Micah Jordan an upgrade over Demas. Also, perhaps Hunter returns to form
next year and it's gonna be a tight race with Psu n tOSU.

I think it's ...

Ohio State:

141 - Logan Stieber
157 - Josh Demas

Iowa:

141 - Josh Dziewa
157 - Mike Kelly
165 - Nick Moore
174 - Mike Evans
285 - Bobby Telford

Minny:

133 - Chris Dardanes
141 - Nick Dardanes
157 - Dylan Ness
174 - Logan Storley
197 - Scott Schiller

I think that's all the starting seniors at the 3 schools you listed.

Agreed, But I would be concerned with Hunter Stieber returning to form if I was a Tosu fan...As Penn State Fans we understand too well how major injuries that require surgery and rehab can derail a promising talent

Can't argue that because with healthy Alton Brothers we would have been right there in the team race. A healthy Andrew Alton would have been a bonus point machine.

Agreed. Penn State may be scary good for years to come! Just saying, don't just assume OSU will be the only scary good team out there.

Minny fans have to be wondering when they will be back in the hunt.

All 5 of their seniors were ranked #1 at some point in their career yet never met expectation at tourney time. With the Dardanes cutting so much weight I'm not at all surprised at the results this year.

Now with the 5 Seniors gone they return only about 7 points from this team.

Zero All-Americans is not outside the realm of possibility for the Gophers next year (though it's fairly unlikely). I don't think there is anybody who you would call a "near-lock to AA" next year.

Pirate

Certainly no locks, but almost guaranteed to have at least one.

Re: Pirate

I keep seeing Micah Jordan mentioned. Yes a big recruit but does not have any resume to be thrown around with Martinez next year. He lost a couple matches at 149 this year I think, Chisko beat him I know.

Re: Pirate

I just posted something similar in the meltdown thread, but Iowa loses 3 contributors. Kelly and Moore didn't score any points. Dziewa didn't score a whole lot for us so his production will likely be duplicated or hopefully improved on by Gross. Meyer will replace Evans and a lot of people wouldn't be surprised if he out scores him at nationals. Stoll likely won't match Telford's production just yet but he has tons of potential and is a pinner just like Telford. Hopefully Bobby sticks around and helps him progress. As for 157, Brody Grothus will likely be moving up and taking that spot. Who knows if he will be strong enough to be effective. And Burke Paddock will likely be at 165. Don't know exactly what we have in him yet. He will be a freshman too so it's likely we take some lumps.

Re: Pirate

Iowa loses 26.5 points, the 13.5 from Telford are the main ones as Meyer should match or exceed Evans 9 points.

fosu loses 27. 26 from Steiber.

PSU loses 31 but has a likely 40+ with Mega and Retherford.

Okie State loses none. Will be tough.

Iowa could be a wildcard, to some extent. Meyer is a potential national finalist (or champ if Dieringer doesn't bump up), so he'd improve on Stache in that regard. Grothus is the "joker" in that regard. If he matches Telford's production, a team trophy wouldn't surprise me, but that's more because I expect the points at the top to be higher. I don't think 85 points is going to be good for the runner-up spot next year, or, for that matter, most years. On the other hand, I don't think Gross is good for much more than a win or two at Nationals, ditto for Stoll, and I suspect Paddock will be watching Nationals next year from the stands, rather than in a singlet.

Like I've said in multiple places, the sleeper for me is Virginia Tech. They have three VERY strong guys coming off redshirt who can do some damage in Gustafson, Chishko, and Zavatsky. I suspect Gustafson will be at 133/141, Chishko at 149, and Zavatsky at 184.

Re: Pirate

Ohio State scored 1.5 pts at 149+157+174+285. Next year's improvement in those 4 weights should offset most of Stieber's points.

Really? What was the score. Micah dominated Chishko in their only high school match. I think it was 7-1?

Re: Pirate

Jordan beat Chishko 2x this year:

1/18: 4-2 at the Purple Raider Open
1/24: 3-2 at the Appalachian Open

Thanks Jeff. It's nice to see Chishko closing the gap. But clearly Micah owns a former great PA High School wrestler.

Re: Pirate

Rather than look at what teams lose, I prefer looking at what they return.

Here is what I have:

Oh St + healthy H Stieber's points from 2013 = 89.5

PSU + Nico's points from 2013 and Retherford's points from 2014 = 67

Ok St = 63 (I don't think they return points from RS)

Cornell = 61 (Garrett's 2014 performance would give them 5 more points)

Iowa = 58.5

Michigan = 48.5

Stieber's return to full strength is not a certainty. If he does though everyone else will have to manufacture points from newcomers and/or improvement from returnees. Either way, OSU has to be seen as the early favorite for next year.

It should be a dog fight next year, Ohio State, Penn State and Okie State.
Can Chance M make 157?
Reason I ask is because I think that Delinger will move up to 165

Dieringer just won the 165 championship weight class.

???
Derringer is already at 165.

Re: Pirate

Next year's gonna be a wild one. I think the top 5 or so teams will all be as good or better than Ohio State was this year, and I think it'll take 110+ points to win the team title.
