I wonder if he's ever wacked an ump or catcher with his bat twirling. Also note that he looks to the dugout for his instructions. In HS baseball here the manager normally coaches third base, from where he sends the signs.

Personally don't like the socks. Most of my baseball time was in the 80s and the first thing you did was stretch those stirrups out anyway.

Aside from liking the "boys of summer uniform" I was thinking the same about whacking the catcher.

Only in the majors, maybe minor leagues. I don't know any coach who would allow their player to do that.
