It can be an issue with the Big 12 and ACC. The SEC and Big Ten are going to be playing themselves and the other power conference. Who are the Big 12 and ACC going to be playing? Here is is my fundamental point. I don't want weaker teams getting in simply because they won their conference. Obviously that is not an issue with the B10 and SEC. If you go to 16 that won't be an issue with the B12 and ACC champ either. Where I have the issue are all the other conferences and this G5 requirement. Bogus. That is why it is cleaner in my mind instead of saying the conf champs from the Power 4 are auto qualifiers and no one else just say no one is an auto qualifier and they are all "invited" in.
College basketball is unique. If they went to just a 16 team format with no auto qualifiers it would end up being whatever your top 16 are today in the rankings or at the end of the season. That would be a terrible model to adopt for college basketball. I get that. College football is different. You can't have 68 teams or whatever it is. The # of playoff spots is limited or "precious". So you need to get to the top 16 in the country.
Which was too high13-0 Florida State was ranked #5 in 2024
I agree on you with the fleeing, too, but the kneeling definitely aggravates me more. When a wrestler with a single is pulling a guy back in by his foot and the guy is obviously fighting to go out of bounds, that should be called much more often. The more exciting counter to that that doesn't involve fleeing is the dive and roll to grab the other guy's ankle and get into a scramble position. Let's encourage that.PS - of course there would be an exception to the rule, called the Anthony Robles exception, for inventory reasons.
I definitely dislike one knee in neutral position, but I am surprised there is not a lot of support for the fleeing the mat change. That one is so much more frequent and drives me nuts since in theory the rule is already in place, it's just the refs simply let it slide 95% of the time.
It’s a win-win proposition! So you are challenging me to a taco throw down? Bring it Nerf! 🙂
probably true. On the other hand, you small community is hosting the PGA Championship (one of four annual majors), you've volunteered/paid to direct traffic to that event and hours after arresting the number one player in the world you don't know who he is?To be honest, outside of golf fanatics, I don’t think many people would recognize a golfer if they ran into them on the street.
Hopefully it's not based on certain coaches saying their guy has more skills. Can you venture a guess why there is no transparency by the Big 10 on how the seeds are done. There is certainly a seeding committee and they sit down and evaluate everything. But what do they evaluate? Is more weight put on head to head competition or overall conference record or is it simply a vote by the coaches. And why all the secrecy? What is the possible value to the Big 10 and to wrestling in general by not being transparent?

In answer to the question from CantThink, it's as simple as Dice put it above, that the seeds are decided on a vote from the Big Ten coaches. Not very transparent though, as we won't see the voting. There really is no "criteria", so coaches (I doubt the voting is always done by each the head coach themselves) could simply look at the national rankings and pull out the B1G guys in their ranking order, or do it some other way. Doubt anyone is putting in much time, given how much work there is to do this time of year preparing for the postseason.
13-0 Florida State was ranked #5 in 2024Maybe but with the proposed set up, there aren't going to be many games between the Big Ten/SEC and the ACC or Big 12. So you can end up having a highly ranked ACC team like Clemson or SMU that could even go undefeated without really playing anyone. They could end up competing for one of the byes.
What’s the word @Chickenman Testa?!Obviously this is about Ono😂
You can't shoot on someone who is constantly kneeling. Angelo was the better wrestler in that match, I'm not arguing that he wasn't, but the kneeling needs to be called. It's stalling and nothing else. Thankfully, he did get called for it against Starocci and it cost him the match (that match was really egregious with the kneeling and backing up for the entire first 2:30), but the call needs to be made automatic and take the judgement out of the hands of the refs. It's not that hard. Don't kneel if you're not tied up. It doesn't help you, it's just stalling. You guys act like he was on his knee the entire match. As soon as the opponent makes contact, he's off his knee and in the tie up and that's where all his offense was. He outshot Plott like 6-0 and got to legs 3 times. He didn't back out of bounds.
For years, you all whined that "pushing isn't offense" and you were right. Plott had plenty of opportunities to try to score and just wasn't able because Angelo was better.
That’s because Iowa guys generally don’t have much stamina. The prostitutes outside Carver spent less time on their knees.
So you are challenging me to a taco throw down? Bring it Nerf! 🙂I used to think this way too. Then I got better at making tacos. 🤣
