Do we go to #2?

So Georgia is in your top tier yet they lost to a mediocre Bama team….got it. Funny how poor performances only seem to count against PSU with some posters on here.
Georgia manhandled Texas last night. Georgia and Texas would easily beat PSU ... OSU and Oregon would beat PSU... I said 5-9 is where PSU would land. I will stand by that. Miami, Clemson, Tenn LSU.. There are a handful of teams right there and you can make arguments for all of them. PSU is in that bunch.

Do you believe in your heart of hearts that PSU is the second-best team in the country? As much as I'd like to believe the Nits are worthy of that ranking, I don't think the evidence supports it.
The evidence doesn’t support Georgia being ranked higher…they lost to a mediocre Bama team and should have lost to a bad Kentucky team.

Do we go to #2?

Correct... the next grouping is 5-9 and PSU is somewhere in there... We beat one decent team... one team and the rest suck. For me, PSU is in a permanent ....PROVE IT mode. For years, we have been undefeated and then get exposed. This year is no different. We are the same old Penn State until we prove otherwise. Ranked 2 or 3 is absolutely laughable but that is what it is for a week or so.

There's clearly a group of 5 that includes us
Even trying to state we're in the next group is laughable. Stop blaming NIL. We have plenty of money to pay guys and are.
Allar Singleton Warren and Carter aren't here to get an education. They're being paid well.
There's no doubt that our top players are doing well with NIL but that doesn't mean we have the same kind of money available as some other top schools. My theory is that we took care of the guys on our roster which meant we were left with limited funds to get a top WR/LB from the portal.

Think we could beat Indiana?

Yes. They would beat us by two TDs. Seeing USC lose to Maryland and watching Illinois almost lose at home to Purdue, our resume is very weak. We don't look the part of a playoff team. Oregon, Ohio State and Indiana will represent the Big Ten in the playoff. I see us losing at Wisconsin, at Minnesota and getting blown out by Ohio State. If we had this year's offense with last year's defense we would have looked the part but our defense this year is suspect. 9-3 is our destiny.
Oh good lord….and Indiana’s resume is so strong. Yeah, you’re a fan.

Spot on. After those big four payroll teams we are right in there with the next grouping.

You must be fun at tailgates - and you are wrong - we beat Minny and Wisky easy - OSU is a toss up.

Ewers not very good

Any QB would have struggled against Georgia in the game against Texas. The primary problem was not Ewers nor Manning. The primary problem was the Texas offensive line. They were bullied, pushed around, and flat out beat up by the Georgia defensive front.

In addition, the speed of the Georgia defensive backs and line backers on timely blitzes caused a couple of those strip sack fumbles.

Ewers not very good

So he is Tom Brady immobile but not a great passer. What are his strengths? He just was missing receivers last night, and if he had to move around at all it got worse.

Btw see how Texas players get 300k lambos to drive?
NIL man...nothing wrong with that
Beck Ewers and Arch struggled last night. That happens against fast elite defenses. Ewers is overrated but he's generally accurate. The real question is how healthy is he.

Recruiting other team's commits

A potential correction for the situation is, make NIL money tied to a non compete clause for one year . College sports is big business and should be treated like one. It doesn't stop a kid from transferring and wrestling. A grad student would reset his opportunity for NIL money.
A non-compete like that is only as good as a school's willingness to enforce it in court.

For football and basketball, maybe. For wrestling, not a chance, too little return on the attorney costs.

And if the kid declines or refunds the original school's money, then what standing does the school have?

After all of that, the schools would still have to win the cases. That's hardly a given.

Do we go to #2?

ESPN game predictor gives Wisconsin a 30% chance so of course I'm "worried".

USC fans shouldn't have been worried about Maryland either.
And that's the difference...you don't worry about games you're the far superior team...upsets happen but this is a game we should expect to dominate.
I'm still confused why this fan base hates expectations. Wisconsin isn't great in any aspect of the game. Their run game is mid, their passing game is awful and their defense is at best average. The only spot they might have an advantage over us is ST.
We will similar to the WVU game.
Also 30% means we should win...pretty easily...especially on the road.
