Do we go to #2?

I don’t understand what you are saying about Allar. He’s completing over 70% of his passes, is 6-0 and is one of top rated and in country. Not sure what more you want out of kid. We do run the ball unlike some of those teams that throw 50 times a game.
Does he look like the best QB in college ball? Or even top five?

He forced two bad passes against USC to guys double covered. He has five long balls and every one was seriously under thrown. Like receivers having to come to a full stop.

If he was playing great they open it up more. We have had some close games where passing more would have helped. Maybe it’s the receivers. Maybe it’s the scheme. But he won’t be All American 1st or 2nd at this pace.

Jax Forrest thread

Am I the only person who thinks that Jax has the best frame to become the heaviest of the three?

Remember when DT committed to ISU? After winning state at 112 lb as a junior, Intermat listed his projected college weight at 157, which was mind-blowing. But he grew into it after a redshirt year.

Jax is a long, lanky kid. I see Blaze at 141, Bo at 149 - both of these guys will want to stay around an Olympic weight and neither are big enough to go up to 74kg. But Jax has a frame that could get up to 157 after a redshirt year and a college lifting program. Then, probably 165 so that he can become a 74kg
You mean he reminds you of a Vito?

Think we could beat Indiana?

I think Penn State and many majors across the country missed out on one of Western PA's homegrown up and coming coaches. vs recycling coaches with some or varying success at other majors...he might be worth whatever money IU is paying him for the sole responsibility of recruiting/portal coordinator at Penn State.

What does the forced mass exodus and influx of personnel say about his ability to recognize and coach talent (and performance)?...and that of his predecessor's (own current defensive coordinator)?

It.might be interesting to comparie it to the more publicized similar strategy that occurred last year in Colorado.

Is his strateg sustainable? We'll see, but I'm leaning more towards betting for than against him.

Do we go to #2?

Shame how people get all butt hurt over someone’s opinion. And here I thought sports boards were supposed to be about discussing opinions on various issues.

I agree, we look good but haven’t looked great. We have the potential to be great but aren’t there yet.

Some with Allar. He has played pretty good but he hasn’t looked like one would expect from the top QB in his class and now in his third year. He still could be great, certainly has the tools. Maybe that USC comeback will be the spark.

It’s crazy to get all hyped right now whether we are #2 or #6. The next three weeks will determine a lot but not be the final tally. We are only half way through and on any given Saturday……

Move over Nick Saban. Geez.
Speaking of Saban. Here’s a quote of him on Curt Cignetti who coached for Saban and was his recruiting coordinator….

“Curt came up in that environment, a coaches environment. He's very smart, bright. He was a receiver coach for us, but has a great offensive mind and is a really good quarterback coach."………..Nick Saban

Saturday games of interest

The first round byes go to the 4 highest ranked conference champions. The only way PSU can get a bye is to win the BiG title game. Two of the 4 spots will go to teams not in the SEC or BiG (like Iowa State or Miami).
Everyone with a clue knows that. My post you responded to only had 5-6 seeding listed.
For PSU to be seeded 5 or 6 they would probably have to be the loser of the BiG title game. I struggle to believe that OSU or Oregon would be seeded 5th and PSU would be seeded 6th.
To be 5, likely.
That would mean the second best team in the SEC would be no higher than 7th but I guess it's possible.
An unbeaten Texas handing as many other teams a 2nd loss before the CCG would have been a good way of making that a possibility. It’s moot now that Texas lost.

Two 1-loss SEC teams meeting in their CCG isn’t as favorable as one of them being a 2-loss team that eventually loses.

The caveat is that if one of those 1-loss teams were LSU. If they were able to make it and then lose, there would need to be a lot of mental gymnastics used to have post CCG 2-loss LSU ranked above a theoretical 1-loss PSU.

Think we could beat Indiana?

The people that think our schedule lacks quality should look at Indiana's schedule
Our SOS is a pedestrian 70 but they're outside the top 100
Indiana is a lot like FSU last year or Army/Navy this year--but they get credit for beating the teams they should
They're just lucky to avoid Penn State, Oregon< Wisconsin, Iowa, USC and Illinois this year. Hopefully soon teams only play conference games.

Ewers not very good

Does anyone know when the officials huddled to overturn the pass interference call? Before or after the fans threw water bottles on the field? Probably a bad call but when they reversed the call 10 minutes later I was hoping Georgia would beat them by 40 (and I’m not a Georgia fan).
During the throwing of the bottles the refs discussed it--I'd imagine they got help from the booth even though they couldn't
Georgia did what teams are supposed to do--they made it irrelevant

Allar has absolutely looked like the top kid in his class--watch Milroe, Beck, Arch and Ewers yesterday. You all are absurd.

Do we go to #2?

I just gave my opinion based on what has happened so far. I think we are somewhere between 5-9. Do I think we are 2 or 3... not by what I have seen so far. Its all good. We will find out in the next couple weeks what PSU has or doesnt have.

This part.... End the season now with the Wesauking Lion rankings to determine placement as he knows who will beat who. .... again.... my opinion is worth just as much as yours.... nothing in both respects.

SCUM

Maybe the 4 new PAC teams can do a better job than us to make changes in this league, because we have failed to shed light on this nationally. OSU and UM are regularly and significantly supported by the refs directly impacting outcomes of games, including several of our own games. The two worst for us were UM’s gifted td on 2005 via two extra fraudulent seconds and OSU’s winning fg after time expired. Last night in real time it was so effing obvious what was happening to Illinois. Thankfully Illinois challenged the call and persevered.

I think 5-9 is fantastic. It’s a huge accomplishment and fine with a limited budget. To get any higher requires spending 20 mil on a roster and giving out lambos. Let them do that and get a bunch of “me” kids. As we have seen this year when it becomes about the individual the team is not as good. I am a Yankees fan but use them as the analogy.
This is delusional
