USC Game Environment

I went with my son who lives in Hollywood. We were lucky to get a private lot spot right next to the blue permit lot. It was the best $70 dollars I ever spent. Outside everyone was very friendly as we walked up to the stadium.

There is no tailgating outside of the stadium that we saw. There were approved and catered events in designated areas for USC folks. Very high security. Lots of hotdogs, beer, and water being sold right outside of the stadium. Had a cartel hotdog that was pretty good and numerous Modelos.

We sat on the 40 yard line, pretty high up on the USC side. I would say maybe five% of the fans around us were Penn State fans. The USC fans were all pretty cool and no one gave us looks or said things as we cheered loudly. We were both certainly respectful of where we were. The international feeling was pretty cool. People were complaining about Riley. He will be on a short leash at USC. As mentioned, it was brutal, sitting out in the sun. Lucky to have brought an oversized Penn State booney hat.

It was a great trip and I will certainly go out there to see USC or UCLA play again in the future.

2026 Recruiting underway

He visited 5 other schools and none were PSU. So guessing he wasn't a priority -- which makes sense with the guys on board and possibly getting Blaze or Forrest.
Good pickup for Lehigh in any case. Good to see them on the upswing after being kinda stagnant for a number of years. I had thoughts that Santoro had plateaued a few years ago but recent recruits have been an improvement over where they were 4-5 years ago.

House v. NCAA NIL settlement & related fallout

D3 does not give scholarships, of they do my son was misinformed. Athletic scholies
Correct they (D3) do not give Athletic scholarships. They do give academic scholarships which are often adjusted if the student plays a sport.

Plenty of parents like to say their child is getting an athletic scholarship at a D3 school.

Colin Cowherd

Quite a different thing than owing some coach an apology. For what? And Cowherd shits on PSU routinely and has for years. All this stuff is stupid.
When Colin was first on ESPN radio, it would be sweeps week (for advertising) and Colin (being the new guy) needed to bolster his numbers. He literally mentioned Joe every day for a week as he knew it would generate discussion / calls. The first year, I thought this was a one off, but Fall sweeps the next year, every day "Joe Paterno". It became a running joke over the years, if his numbers dipped, he would literally start the show "Joe Paterno".

Anthony Donkoh

Ok a LOT of misinformation on this thread:

Donkoh did NOT re injured himself, he had his wind knocked out and returned the very next series.

Donkoh DID finish the game and was a full part of the offense during the comeback.

Donkoh, in fact was SECOND for the pff grades, and wasn't far behind Warren, actually.

Finally, Rucci graded quite well for the limited snaps he played, and the offensive line did not play poorly at all, with zero sacks in 43 attempts. The USC defense was all out trying to stop the run, D'Anton Lynn's defense played it's BEST game of the season by far. I'm seeing far too much marginalizing of that win on Saturday. That was the best 3-3 team in the nation and they played a fantastic game that would have been enough to beat anyone in the nation, and they lost.
I do think USC is a good team. Even though I do not care for them, never have, it would be good to see them run the table and beat Notre Dump.
