Jerry can't dispute the veracity of my statement, so he doubles down on personal attacks with a "you did it, too" flail. Like an adult.

Except, in the other thread, I simply commented, substantively, on the story that was told. Then personal attacks on me rolled in, and I returned serve. And I never claimed, in that thread, that I was acting like an adult and the others were acting like children.

You failed again, Jerry. Let the lashing out commence.

Bullshit. You bizarrely claimed Spin's funny family story about the game Saturday was a lie...which makes Spin a liar (or a mental case)...which is a personal attack. And people reacted to that with the scorn that it deserved.

The larger question is why in the world anyone would go to the trouble of attempting to pick apart Spin's post on such a topic. It reflects a seemingly compulsive need to ridicule, belittle, and take shots at others...for no reason.

The irony, PP, is that you do appear to know some football and you are capable of intelligent thought. But your penchant for invective and vitriol has led a lot of people to put you on Ignore, either officially or unofficially. That's unfortunate, but it's on you.

Listen, sorry but I'm not going to spend the rest of the day playing your idiotic patty-cake games of mud-slinging...as much as you appear to enjoy such exercises.

IMO, the Wisconsin game is more important than the OSU game, even though that game is important too. I say this because we can survive a loss to OSU and still achieve all of the goals for this team, whereas a loss to Wisconsin definitely will complicate matters. Therefore, I agree that this bye should be great.
Yeah, in this new era the Ohio State is more about "a test" rather than a must win.
We could lose to Wisconsin and survive but I don't want to test that lol

Does anyone else get 1986 vibes from this team?

Yeah, Wisconsin's wheels came off against Alabama when they lost their starting QB early. Immediately changed the tenor of the game.

USC, meanwhile, is...don't laugh...the best 3-loss team in the country. I mean, they're just a few ball bounces and zebra calls away from being unbeaten. Plus Wisconsin was leading that game by 11...in LA...at the half.

Rutgers had only one loss before being blown out by the Badgers while Purdue played a good Illinois team very close.

I realize...all of these facts plus a couple bucks will get you a coffee at Starbucks.

My point is that Wisconsin appears to be capable of putting up a fight against us...especially in Madison.

We'll see how they do at Northwestern this week.

Sorry, I'm one of those Nervous Nellies that some here laugh at. I just think we better go into Madison not looking ahead to the following week's game. I'm confident the coaches won't be...and will make sure the players aren't either.

Well given that Alabama has been played down to the wire by the last 3 consecutive games by bad unranked teams - losing one of them - yes, I'm guessing Wisconsin could very well give us a game.

Re; USC's 3 Conference losses (they're only losses) - PSU's is the only one @TheColiseum. scUM and Minny played them @Home. Beyond that, the B1G had the Referines in full "protect scUM" mode (see the following link: https://www.si.com/college/usc/foot...ls-question-big-ten-miller-moss-lincoln-riley ). We have a poster on here saying travel has no impact in these new games against former PAC12 teams - maybe he can explain to me how scUM is 1-6 against USC in their last 7 games played in LA (which also happened to be last 7 games played vs USC prior to this year)??? Minny was given the win on an extremely questionable Replay Reversal (the play was called not a TD on the field). The Minny QB gets his upper-body across goal-line on dive, but ball cannot be seen until it comes squirting out back off scrum well away from QB and the whistle has never blown. Replay reverses call despite never being able to see ball or when Minny QB losses control of it???

USC beat current #8 LSU on West Coast (LV is 270 miles from LA and 1,800 miles from Baton Rouge) and also beat Wisconsin on West Coast - PSU gave them their first B1G home loss (the visiting team is 3-10 in these long-travel games versus new B1G Member former Pac12 teams - the other 2 being Indiana and Minny beating UCLA @UCLA. However, UCLA may be the worst team in the Conference and is currently 0-4 in B1G and 1-5 Overall).

PSU has to travel 2 timezones West to play Wisconsin - and Camp Randell is a significant home-field advantage - PSU is 8-3 in their last 11 against Wisconsin with all 3 losses taking place @Wisconsin..... so yes, it is a very difficult road game - far more difficult than most here acknowledge. If PSU gets the W, it will be another impressive Road Win.

I never heard what happened but he did return which is great
Good time for a bye week--hopefully he and Singleton are good to go against Wisconsin

Every prognostication I’ve seen, including ESPN, had PSU at 6 or 7 seed. One had us at 5. I assume all of these are expecting a PSU loss to OSU and running the table otherwise. I haven’t seen one mainstream site predicting PSU to not make the playoffs.
I think it's this simple:
  • 13-0 = BiG champs and 1st round bye
  • 11-1 or 12-1 = home playoff game
  • 10-2 = away playoff game

Point taken, but Wisconsin has had a long line of 1000-yard running backs since Barry was the head coach there.

So when I see that this guy, Walker, racked up 200 yards, I'm naturally wondering if he might be developing into the next edition of the classic Badger back. His stats aren't quite at that level, but he is averaging over 5 yards a carry this season.

Agree that the game against Northwestern will be interesting on a number of levels.
They run the Air Raid, and this is nothing like the classic Wisky offense. The run the ball more than most Air Raid teams, think Art Briles at Baylor, but they are not overly physical.

You just have to understand that Lando wants a BIG/SEC-only future for major college football, so everything he sees and says is colored by that bias. Everything he says will try to fit and further that narrative. Once you accept that, everything he's going to state on the topic is going to make "sense."
There's no bias on my end--see the rankings
7 of the top 8 are Big Ten/SEC teams
The exception is Miami.
Look at the SOS of the ACC and Big XXI. ND could have a nice win over A&M but that loss to NIU is a killer
Bama also needs Vandy to be a decent/slightly below average team. If Vandy doesn't win at least 7 games that will hurt them but Vandy probably gets 7.
I'm not sure why you think this is the wrong approach but it's year one so I'm open to reasonable arguments not "this isn't fair"

College Football Playoff Outlook

Do you really think a 2 loss BiG team gets in ahead of a 1 loss ND or ACC team? Or for that matter a 4th place BiG team with 2 losses gets in ahead of a 2 loss ND team?
Yes, Indiana wouldn't but an Oregon, Ohio State or Penn State easily does. Iowa is 50/50.
Indiana and Iowa get in over a 2-loss ND team with a loss to NIU--I don't even think that would be close
ND desperately needs A&M to be a playoff team

Northwestern sucks too. But it's free scouting so yeah I will watch it, but I'm not freaking out if they handle NW like Rutgers. The bottom end of the B1G this year is BAD BAD BAD

FB Recruiting 2025 Ohio DB Josh Johnson commits to Penn State

I trust the evaluative skills of Coach Terry. If he wanted JJ, then by all means, welcome aboard young man.

Coach and the staff have done a really good job identifying and developing talent in our secondary.

Per Rivals, JPJ was a 3 star, and don't forget Daquan Hardy - he was only a 2 star, and they both worked out pretty well

This isn't Barry's Wisconsin. The 200 yard rusher vs Rutgers is an anomaly until they do it again. It's like the post-Illinois "is the OL as good as '94?" posts. Way premature, very likely matchup dependent.

Phil Longo strives for balance in his Air Raid, but prior to Rutgers they were only successful passing mostly. Be interesting to see how they do vs NW this weekend while we are on the bye.

Iowa discussions for 2024-25

Without looking at data, I suspect you're right.

However, Lucas Davison did go from 5th/6th in his last 2 years at NW to the finals at Michigan in his 6th year of competition. So there can at least be exceptions.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hamiti makes a similar jump, from 6/6/R12 at Wisconsin to 3rd at OKST despite being capped by Levi and O'Toole ahead of him. Assuming he doesn't shirt. Though this would be his 4th year.
Davison didn't have to cut weight, which most likely is huge mentally for staying focused. Hamiti, moving up a weight class will also help him mentally.
