We have had so many bad calls thru the years that I don't feel bad if the calls!!!! Maybe the refs are trying to make up for the past!No doubt re: USC RT - he repeatedly got an early start stepping back with his right leg just before the snap (makes me wonder if USC QB was calling a compound snap-count - i.e., calling a number or word that indicates to snap ball on next count. This gives your OL an advantage as they are getting set to go on next noise from QB - regardless of what it is; kinda similar to the "set" in "ready-set-go"). In any event, the USC RT seemed to know exactly when the snap was coming before it came and repeatedly took a head-start by stepping his right leg back into pass-pro including on USC's last play of regulation (INT play).
I think we all saw the game, but thanks for the recap. It wasn't looking good. USC was winning 17-6 and had 1st and goal with a good chance to make it a 3 score game. Fortunately we got the low block penalty against Carter that forced USC to settle for a FG and keep it a 2 score game.
We got the ball to start the second half and we scored to make it 20-13 and we were back in it.
lol you never see psu beating anyone. All you did was praise USC prior to the game now we can’t beat Ohio state.Nobody is putting a ceiling on this team. People are just giving their predictions based on what we've seen so far.
It's great that we're 6-0. We were also 6-0 last year and finished 10-2. The same could happen again this year but with USC in the rear view mirror and OSU the only remaining elite opponent there's a reasonable chance of 11-1. I personally don't see us beating OSU.
So far we beat:
(3-3) WVa 34-12
(2-4) BGSU 34-27
(0-6) Kent State 56-0
(5-1) Illinois 21-7 (Purdue just took them to OT)
(1-5) UCLA 27-11
(3-3) USC 33-30 (OT)
USC is 3 plays away from being 6-0 and they are loaded with 4* talent. IMO that was a big win on the road. But has our body of work convinced me that we're likely to run the table? No. I think we're a bit weak at LB, S, and WR and the run game has been inconsistent. I'll be happy if we can finish 11-1 and get a home playoff game.
Right--you never know but we probably have to play a near perfect game against Ohio StateI agree with this.
Caveat: I would have said the same thing about USC.
Tell her you know the Real truth!!!My older sister by 1 year always told me I was adopted.
I have few complaints.
- Screen passes killed us in the first half. PSU routinely sells out to create pressure. USC was expecting it led to way too many explosive plays.
- The low block on Carter saved us before halftime. USC had 1st and goal but that penalty forced USC to accept a FG. 6-24 at halftime might have been insurmountable.
- Passes to Singleton were nice. He had 4 catches with a TD.
- I thought (hoped?) PSU would take control of the game after tying it 20-20 with 4:40 left in Q3. No such luck. Carter dropped a likely pick 6 that might have sealed the game.
- PSU kept getting beat when they blitzed. We only got 1 sack and 1 turnover. The turnover was the pass intercepted by Reed at the end of regulation. Moss just missed it. It wasn't created by our pressure. I continue to think we pressure/blitz too much. The reward vs risk hasn't been in our favor. We're 9th/10th in the BiG with 14 sacks but 7 of those came late vs Illinois. We simply haven't had a good consistent pass rush. a lot of that is because we bring the heat so often that opponents have countered with screens and quick release passes.
- PSU's last drive with 5:30 remaining was an adventure. Some great runs and passes but Allar was almost intercepted again. We relied on two 4th down conversions to Fleming (4th and 7, 4th and 10). It was good to finally see Fleming make some plays.
- Warren was incredible but how was he allowed to be so wide open on several catches?
- PSU got lucky in OT. Tracy definitely grabbled jersey. It wasn't horrible but it was enough to call. Miller definitely arrived early but announcers didn't mention that Carter was held by #79 on that play.
If Allar has 3 INT’s vs OSU, we are toast.
I know that but he can extend plays with his legs. Not talking about that.... he does not have the "defensive read abilities" and "quick release" that Moss has - not even close.
Yes, though PSU's last few games vs Minny have been close.UNC beat Minnesota. Iowa destroyed them. They barely survived UCLA.
Like it's okay to see us as a legit top 5-10 team that shouldn't lose to Minnesota or Wisconsin
Don't you take a beat down multiple times a day from everyone.I’ll take another 63-14 beat down of OSU.
I've been banned for life that's how prestigious my profile is over there lol. **** those thin skinned sissies. Like jefe said, I won lolI was on the iowa site twice making jokes and got banned both times oh well no big deal!
