Penn State Wrestling Stats

I wanted to create this thread so that it can be a centralized resource for wrestling stats (with a focus on Penn State) and a place for people to add additional information.

Penn State Wrestling team site > Click Here
Current season stats and archived stats back to 2007-08 can be accessed here.

Penn State Wrestling Club > Click Here
There's a wealth of historical information here that goes back to the beginning of Penn State wrestling.

Wrestlestat > Click Here
@andegre has created a masterpiece for wrestling stat nerds with information for all D1 programs going back to the 2013/14 season.

@LemonPie has also done some great work with Penn State wrestling stats over the years and has shared the info through Google sheets. These can be found in various places on this board (just do a search on stats & lemonpie).

What follows the Treasury Yield Curve going back to normal

The Yield Curve has some predictive history. The curve has been inverted (short term yields higher than long term) for quite some time now. When this inverted curve goes back to normal (positive slope) a recession has usually occurred within 9 months. A lot of the recent market activity can also be seen as a harbinger of future higher rates, increased unemployment, lower GDP growth.

  • An inversion in this part of the yield curve typically indicates that a recession is likely in the next one-to-two years, though this inversion has lasted longer than in previous episodes. The curve usually turns positive before a downturn begins.
  • Sep 13, 2024 · When the yield curve, which is the difference between the 10-year and the 2-year, turns positive, or uninverts, right before the Fed starts cutting interest rates, a recession tends to kick.
  • The yield curve on U.S. government bonds has been upside down since the middle of 2022. The underlying circumstances of the yield curve's inversion, however, have changed dramatically in just the past few days. This is actually the situation investors should fear, as the unwinding of an inverted yield curve usually points to trouble on the horizon.

Election news and rumors

Right now, what I am hearing, is the GOP participation is good but not great. Dem participation is awful. A dem friend was asked, Saturday, if he would drive to PA and knock on doors to get people out. The list of doors was people who early voted for Biden in 2020 but have not yet voted in 2024.

Both campaigns are trying to get energy into their base. Harris/Walz releasing a poll showing she was up in Iowa, which would be a shock. Trump/Vance showing early voting results in swing states.

Watched very little of Minnesota but how worried should we be?

Not to overlook Purdue or Maryland but Minnesota game is worrying--perhaps due to the bad memories of 2019 but also, this season's slow starts vs Bowling Green, UCLA, USC, and Wisconsin.

I watched the last quarter of their game vs USC (USC should have put that game away) and caught a little of last week's game vs Rutgers where they seemed somewhat even though I expected them to win. I'm glad the game is at 2:30pm local time instead of a 11am start but I feel like they have been flirting with getting upset with those prior games and eventually it will catch up to them. I hope I am wrong but any thoughts on that game?

Bidenomics in action: GM lays off 1,000 employees amid reorganization, cost-cutting

I can't believe @fbh1 was going to vote for this guy solely for the reason he hated his opponent.

https://www.cnbc.com/2024/11/15/general-motors-gm-layoff-reorganization.html

  • GM laid off roughly 1,000 employees on Friday as the automaker attempts to cut costs and realign priorities amid changing market conditions, according to a person familiar with the decision.
  • The layoffs, which were announced Friday morning via email to those impacted, were across the business.

Evidently The Guardian warned the democratic party.......

I never saw it, and I read their drivel. In fact, they tell me I've read 37 of their articles and now it is time to give them money... lol... It's the home of Robert Reich, super midget and TOP LIB.

Can they change course? Maybe, but they need a message of commonsense solidarity without liberal elitism

OK State news - 2024-25

Here is the projected line up from a knowledgeable OK ST fan Howie_Fartz over on 34:

"A couple months back I put together a line up that excluded JW. Unfortunately that is now for sure the case. From what I've heard and from the OPC's its pretty easy to put together a complete line up.

125- Spratley- how can you not be high on this kid?

133- Hughes - at least eventually and if he wants to start. Early we could see Reece or maybe JJ a couple matches.

141- Jamison- I absolutely think he'd be better at 49 but Carter is heavier. I think with the new staff closely monitoring his diet (the last staff did not) he can hopefully maintain much better. I think possibly sitting him here and there through out the season could help as well. If Carter somehow drops some more weight or craps the bed at 49 we might see them flip spots or Tagen just sliding into 49. I think Tagen scores more points at NCAAs at 49 and thats really what its all about.

149- Young- great kid, I've always been a fan. He's a LOT bigger and stronger now and has added some funk to his wrestling. Would love to see him put together a full productive year, healthy and strong.

157- Travis or Fish- When Fish arrived Travis was beating him but the gap has closed some. Fish has a RS and Travis does not. Best guy goes imo.

165- Amine- excited to see the DT factor at work in this guy. Not much available in the way of backups so staying healthy is big here.

174-Hamiti- this guy has always been fun to watch and now we get to watch him in Orange! His funky style combined w/ DT raising his technique, less of a weight cut and stud workout partners and we should see pure entertainment at this weight. Not to much in the way of backups here either. Worst case scenario of a season ending injury maybe they pull BTs shirt? I hope not but hearing BT is making great strides and I love it. Lord knows I've been hard on the guy lol.

184- Plott- hard to believe this will be his last year! Last season he made a huge jumps going up a weight. Now we get to see the DT factor w/ Dustin, maybe more than any other Cowboy. I'd look for Robb to fill in here and there if Dustin needs a rest. Hearing great things about Jersey, works hard and lives right!

197- Surber- please, please, PAH-LEEZE let Luke stay healthy this year! Always been a fan of Luke. Always ready to visit with you and the guy works his tail off. Excited to see the DT factor in him as well and would love for Luke to end his career on the podium where he belongs! Look for Haas or Robb to fill in if Luke needs a break. According to all reports Merrill is everything he was/is billed to be and I think he remains in RS no matter what. The future is bright at 197 for the Pokes.

285-Hendrickson- What a tremendous get for the Cowboys in the offseason. The previous staff did a tremendous job opening the doors for all these transfers. With DT working with Wyatt I think the chances for a title are sky high!

Stacked line up for the Pokes and it should be a crazy fun year."

FB Recruiting MR. INTENSITY: Daryus Dixson

Login to view embedded media Dixson is already one of the best cornerbacks in the country but what I’ve loved about seeing Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei numerous times this season is he continues to bring elite intensity throughout the game.
Dixson likes to chirp a lot to receivers and get in their heads. He hits hard, he gets after it and the four-star cornerback could dial it back a notch since his future is with the Nittany Lions but that’s just not in his DNA.
He plays hard, he shuts down his side of the field and that level of toughness and intensity should be a very welcome addition in the Penn State secondary.

DOGE doesn't exist

The organization (Department of Government Efficiency) that both Musk and Vivek will head up doesn't exist. How will it be authorized, who will pay for its operation, it is expected to be in existence for only 18 months. What authority will they have to get information? What will become of any of their recommendations?

Looks like a small thank you to Elon & Vivek.
