OT: MOVIES

Just watched Deadpool and Wolverine. It has to be one of the best duo movies ever if you are a MCU nerd. Hugh Jackman, Ryan Renolds and Robert Downey Jr. are 100% the best scripted characters that have been to date!

Most of yinz in here definitely seem to be on the same "smart ass" level as me, young and old, I think youngs will definitely like the movie. There is alot of REAL news and slap in the face comments that make this movie very special, it is worth the $30 to buy on Amazon.

Nonstop laughs and good music!

After the whole gif thread yinz guys now know I am computer illiterate. I looked for a movie thread and couldn't find it, if there is one out there feel free to delete this one.

It’s Coach K Time!

This is why Yurcich was canned. This is why you were brought here. This is why you are considered a HC candidate very soon. This is why you stepped up in competition moving from Kansas. Do what you are supposed to do. We’ve seen glimpses of it in the first 5 games. Now bundle it and deliver! It’s all n you this Saturday. Score 28 pts and it’s a win because SoCal will score, too.

Connor Stallions reveals more Michigan sleaze -- a couple of weeks ago I posted about play never called for whole year that Mich knew was coming

A couple of weeks ago I posted a story involving OSU tight end, Cade Stover who said that Michigan defensive players were calling a screen on a play that was a screen play to him that had never been run the whole year. Some people here questioned what Stover said. Stallions proudly confirms it in this article. https://footballscoop.com/news/disg...ignals-ohio-state-had-michigan-states-signals

Michigan did get very substantial benefits from its dirty sign stealing.

A lot of game by game predictions are starting to come out

Here's mine:

@ WVa - tough road game but a win.
Bowling Green - easy win
Kent State - easy win
Illinois - win
UCLA - win
@ USC - 40% chance
@ Wisconsin - 66% chance
OSU - Franklin doesn't have it in him
Washington - they're rebuilding and it's a home whiteout. win
@ Purdue - win
@ Minn - win
Maryland - win

PSU should beat USC but Moss threw 6 TD passes in USC's bowl game vs Louisville and I think PSU's defense will be slightly weaker than they were last year. This will be a tough game and Franklin has to show me that he can win this type of game on the road.

PSU also should beat Wisconsin but their defense should be able to keep it close and Camp Randall is a tough place to play.

Ohio State has better players but PSU is close behind due to the 2022 6th ranked recruiting class (Allar, Singleton, Carter, Sutton, etc). The game is at home which should be an equalizer but Franklin's shorts get tight in big games. I don't see that changing here.

I think we have a 70% chance of going 10-2, a 10% chance of going 11-1, and a20% chance of going 9-3 or worse.

BOT Lawsuit Update

Barry Fenchak has won the first salvo in a big way. Anyone care to interpret this direct quote from the judge?

“Allowing (Fenchak’s) removal would recast a shadow over the financial operations of (Penn State), to the detriment of every PSU stakeholder except those at the very top of the PSU hierarchy,”

USC coach questions refs after Minnesota loss; best player on D may be out for year

So I didn't watch the game, but apparently Minnesota's late TD to win it was awarded by replay officials after the call on the field was that the Gophers had been stopped short of the goal line on a 4th and 1.

Ironic as hell, given how Minnesota was jobbed in similar fashion the week before against Michigan. I guess maybe the USC game served as the league's version of Minnesota's make-up call...a week later.

Anyway, at his press conference Tuesday, Riley said there were a number of officiating "misses" in the 4th quarter with the decisive booth reversal being the biggest. The latter occurred after a lengthy review -- sound familiar? -- but when the coach questioned the conference office this week, they appeared to (verbally) agree that the evidence to overturn the call on the field had not met the criterion of "indisputable." Unfortunately, it still goes down as an L on USC's record.

I mean, when you hear that the video review was "lengthy," you know that the evidence can't be "indisputable." It doesn't take that long to see something "indisputable."

Poor Trojans. They're beginning to find out how things work in this conference.

Meanwhile, word is that Eric Gentry, the linebacker who's arguably been their best player on D this season may be gone for the year.

Somebody was asking about free TV a few weeks ago

and I can't find the thread. There are a few streaming services like FreeVee and Pluto. DirectTV is announcing a new "free" service that will only have commercials but no monthly fee.

What one can do is get a smart TV or one with a Roku attached:
  • set up one input with a regular antenna to get all of the local channels that are broadcast
  • set up a free TV (or all of them) with DirectTV, FreeVee, Pluto, etc.
  • Rotate streaming services. Go get Netflix and watch the shows you want that are Netflix only. Cancel netflix and go to Amazon Prime....Apple...Max....etc.
In the end, you'll pay for the smart TV (you can get nice sets for $300 or so), high-speed internet, the free network(s), and paid streaming to your budget's content.

Phillies 2024

'They're studs': Elite starting pitching propels Phils to 8-2 homestand

PHILADELPHIA -- This is the start the Phillies envisioned.
They capped off an 8-2 homestand on Sunday afternoon with an 8-2 victory over the White Sox at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies are 14-8, matching their best start through 22 games since 2018. It’s a nice change for a team that needed until June 29 last season to get to six games over .500. They needed until July 8 to reach that mark in 2022.

The Phillies completed their best homestand of 10 or more games since a 9-2 homestand from June 6-16, 2011, because they got mostly excellent starting pitching. Phillies starters had a 1.51 ERA on the homestand. They pitched six or more innings eight times. They pitched one shutout. They carried one no-hitter into the seventh inning. They carried another into the eighth.

They struck out 75 and walked 20 in 65 2/3 innings.
