SIAP: PSU punt in 4Q

Sorry if this was already posted but what happened with the PSU punt at the beginning of the fourth quarter?

It sounded like (double thump) that is got blocked, but the replay didn't seem to show the UCLA player touching it.

It traveled 38 yards (from LOS, so at least 48 yards from kick spot) -- so it's possible the defender got a finger on it, but they didn't say it was blocked on the TV broadcast. It is in the ESPN box score as a block.

If it wasn't blocked, it was a clear roughing the punter.

Did the referee explain anything? Usually in that case, you'll get a "there was no flag for roughing the punter because the ball was tipped by the return team" (or something similar. Did TV miss it or did the ref just not explain?

Thanks

OT: Illinois Throwback Unis

SIAP but I just saw that Illinois will feature these throwback unis for their game on Oct 19 vs Michigan. I don’t know about you, but I think those helmets are awesome and the overall uni looks great.

When we were there last year, they had a Red Grange lookalike walking around for pix. These unis are a nod to his playing days.

Most don't want to give UCLA credit, but they have one of the better rush defenses in the Conference and Country

Through 5 games, they are only allowing 102 ypg rushing and 3.4 yards per rushing attempt. Those are extremely good #'s. The biggest reason imho people don't want to give them credit is their record - 3 losses coming into PSU game. This is a bit misleading though as those 3 losses were to an Oregon team that will probably #3 after this week, an LSU team that will probably be ranked top 10 after this week and a really hot Indiana team that is undefeated and rocketing up the rankings. All of UCLA's 4 losses to date have been against very, very good teams (2 of them probably top 5 after this week, 3 vs top 10 and all 4 in top 20).

In any event, that is probably the best rushing defense we will face all regular season not named duhO$U - and we survived despite a severely injury-depleted rushing attack. For comparison purposes, our upcoming opponent, USC, is tied for 87th in the Country in rushing YPG and is like 110th in Yards Per Rushing Attempt giving up 5 ypc (and that's on 793 opponent rushing attempts to date!).
