Certainly makes sense for Saturday IF you wanna burn a shirt just to win a DUAL, I wouldn’t
Well, of course it's a terrible idea, it's just that it's a terrible idea with a distinct side benefit: watching Zain maul Jordan again. Just keeping it light.

Shouldn’t have posted that. Pretty sure Mr. Nolf wouldn’t appreciate that.
mods can delete it, it isn't anything concrete what so ever. He will either get an mri back with news that he can potentially return or news that he can't. That post doesn't change that.

Jason is legally entitled to medical privacy.
Yeah really - they’re called HIPAA Laws. The University cannot legally disclose medical information regarding any student, athlete or not. Nor can a coaching staff. Individuals own the rights to their own medical records, condition, etc. These can only be released publicly if the person signs a waiver granting permission.

FWIW, a guy on the Lion's Den just posted this:

"My daughter who has participated in many surgeries in two different hospitals saw it and immediately said it was a sublux. of the patella especially when it popped back in."

That's a dislocated kneecap, which would probably mean a couple of weeks out. Maybe some very good news is possible after all.

Is there any consensus on who we might see at the weight should Jason's Injury be year ending? Could we see Kade Moss bump up like he did for Lehigh?

BoP? That’s the most likely guy. I’d love to see him stick MJ, although his chances would be better @149.

Not sure how connected he is but there is a guy who does seem to post a lot of inside info on 247/scout saying it is not worst case and not as bad as was thought.. I have no idea how much he actually knows but he does seem to get insider info on occasion.. I don't expect Cael to let us know details but it would be nice to at least know if they TRULY think he will be back for nationals or if he is absolutely done for the year.. that really isn't asking too much IMO...

OR... we can get Bill and Ted to go get 2011 DT and then through the use of genetic testing, determine that because it actually is rdsht frosh Taylor, he can compete for the good guys.

on a lighter note, is Shane Sparks calling you explosive the wrestling equivalent to the Madden curse?

Speaking from personal and closely related experience:

Even IF there is a torn ligament, he could still wrestle. It won’t be great and maybe not even good, but the ability to adjust and succeed is possible. We have seen wrestlers generally fail but it can be done. Severity, which ligament and ability of the brace to create stability all matter.

Until the initial inflammatory response is over, it’s hard to predict. When faced with the exact same injury, everyone’s individual response is different.

We’ve called him the terminator before....until I know otherwise, I’ll just assume He’ll be back! He just doesn’t stop!!

I assume you mean Garrett Carr. He has a podcast with Clay Sauertieg. I do know that he reached out to the Duke Doctor on twitter who opined on the injury from a distance for some follow up. Not sure he gleaned more info from that or, what seems more likely from reading his posts, he got some info from the team. I would be thrilled if he’s got solid info.

The Duke Doctor thought it looked like a kneecap dislocation, but speculation is all over the place.

I just got really good news on an update on Nolf, i didn't mean to say too much on my previous post so for that i apologize. That was not my intention. The news is certainly more promising than what was thought yesterday and i'm trying to tread lightly so will leave it at that i guess

He was wrestling with the knowledge that his season was over, sadly, tough to take.

Frankly, hoping the best for Jason's recovery, I have no idea who is behind him to move into his position or are there several who will contend even down the road when Jason's career is over? I do not know the roster very well beyond who represents us on the mat.

The problem with you guys is that you have no idea how a person from the planet Nolf comes from heals. I have a friend from that planet and he said that after the initial shock which lasts up to 45 minutes, Nolf can just drink a cup of H2O which mixes with his green blood cells and he can regrow a ligament or knee cap or whatever he wants. It will take up to 2 weeks for his body to get used to the new ligament or knee cap or whatever.

Until then he can jog slowly, (which means nothing under a 3 minute mile for Jason) and play dodge ball. Due to HIPAA laws, I can't tell you the name of the planet he is from though. Sorry about that.

Here is to wishing him a speedy recovery. About the only time I can get my wife to watch wrestling is when he is wrestling. He is saving my marriage, otherwise I would not see my wife during wrestling season.

LOL, slush you have competition. As someone that comes from a family of runners I especially appreciated Nolf jogging a 3 minute mile. :D

I'm also worried about the PCL for the reasons you mentioned. A PCL injury most often occurs when a force is applied to the anterior aspect of the proximal tibia when the knee is flexed. Hyperextension and rotational or varus/valgus stress mechanisms also may be responsible for PCL tears. The most common way a PCL tear occurs outside of sports is in a car accident when your knee/shin hits the dashboard.

Here, Nolf's knee was flexed, force was being applied to the tibia via the hold on the ankle, and Nolf was forcing his femur forward over the flexed tibia. There was also rotational force being applied via the knee being crossed in front of Nolf's body and the opposing forces of Nolf trying to get up and his opponent holding the shin/ankle against himself.

Another concerning aspect for a PCL injury is that when Nolf is pulling back after the stoppage, it looks like his lower leg is sagging back compared to his femur, which would mean the PCL has torn, allowing the lower leg to move backwards. It also looked like a posterior drawer sign test was being performed by the trainer/doc (bend the knee, push back on the shin and see if there is laxity.. as opposed to the anterior drawer sign for an ACL where they bend the knee and pull forward on the shin to see if there is laxity in that direction).

Finally, there was a post on twitter last night from some woman named Lu Ann Dalessio (https://twitter.com/LuAnnDalessio) saying that Nolf possibly tore his PCL and has a doctor's appointment at 8am this morning. She has since deleted the tweet

However, if you look at her profile, her last tweet was in 3/2017 and also about Nolf. She follows 5 accounts, 4 of those are B1Gwrestling, Flowrestling, Penn State Wrestling, and Samantha Nolf. I did some googling for a Lu Ann Dalessio and a woman by that name works on the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority.. a half hour drive from Nolf's hometown of Yatesboro. (https://www.prwa.com/people/icmsaluann)

Here is a screen grab of the tweet preview from a text message i sent last night when the tweet was still up.

If it's a PCL, theres no way he's wrestling this year, IMO.

If you guys really want to know the answer, everyone needs to start tweeting at @ProFootballDoc with links to the video (you can use this Christian Pyles tweet

Oh No. #Nolf pic.twitter.com/czvzXDT0CI

— Christian Pyles (@CPyles8) January 28, 2018for a link to the video)

It would also be helpful to send videos of the trainer examining Nolf and Nolf trying to walk.

We already have the opinion of a Duke Professor/Orthopedic Surgeon in Dr. Selene Parekh, but he only saw the initial video that CP tweeted, and not the exam, etc.

One other thing that points to the patella is that you can see the trainer feeling the right patella and comparing it to the left when he examines Nolf. However, I'm worried that if it is the patella, its a torn patellar tendon, not a dislocated patella. In my opinion you can pretty clearly see the trainer say to Cael 2x "it's torn" after Nolf stands up. In addition, it looks like Cody says "it's torn" when Nolf is still on the ground being examined.

That chain of reasoning needs explanation by a master! Is this guy available? :)

Good one, but he had a few matches last year where he had nose bleeds so does his green blood turn red when it hits our oxygenated atmosphere?

Shew!!!! I don’t know why I worry so damn much. All day at work I was stressed out that we may have evolved after the Suriano injury and I wouldn’t have had this abundance of speculation to wade through.

There’s nothing I love more than to feel like I’m on the outside looking in and having conflicting opinions to leave me confused guessing about things. You guys always come through! :D

I have a good friend with a connection to the family

Thanks for the news. Like most of you I would think, what happened yesterday put a cloud over everything left to come this season for me with college wrestling. I can’t imagine what it’s like being the athlete in this situation.

So I really hope this is true. Any tournaments in March without Jason Nolf are a huge disappoinment for so many, and especially if it’s the final one

Curiosity got the better of me and I had ventured over to Rutgers forum yesterday to see their take. Very empathetic towards Nolf and a lot of. "We're so close to competing! If we had Retherford and Joseph and Nickal and either of their 97's and Nevillis, we coulda really licked 'em!"
