2017 Recruiting Class Thread

Any intel on Friedman's tweet concerning a DL commit?

That's why you can't get your panties twisted about decommits. It's part of the game. Win some, lose some.

Glov, did someone hack into your account last night? Not a good look, bro.

Appears to be about Josh Paschal.

Paschal — a 6-foot-4, 255-pound prospect out of Good Counsel (Md.) — is ranked by Rivals, Scout, ESPN and 247Sports as a four-star recruit. 247Sports classifies him as the No. 11 strongside defensive end in the country for 2017.

247Sports national analyst Steve Wiltfong told the Herald-Leader that Paschal’s ranking would be even better by the end of the 2017 recruiting cycle.

“This summer, at two different events, his testing numbers that he put up tell you that he is the most athletic defensive lineman in the country,” Wiltfong said. “The development for him as a player from junior to senior year — he really had a great senior year, did things on both sides of the ball. He’s a pass-rush presence from across the line of scrimmage. He’s a guy with the strength to set the edge. Just a very versatile player, and a guy that we have under-ranked.

“He’ll be going up in our rankings. He just had a terrific senior year.”

Offers from PSU, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, etc.

This Paschal recruitment is a long shot. His older brother played at Kentucky and is a current grad assistant there. His family is certainly used to traveling to Lexington and the ties are obvious. Hopefully Simmons is a master recruiter and worked his magic this weekend.

I'm not saying he will pick PSU, but the fact that he made an official visit to us this weekend indicates that our chances are better than "long shot".

Judge - Jonathan Thomas was listed as a LB on the official roster from November 1 so the switch was probably some time in October. Regardless, I don't know that he's likely to be more than a depth player at LB and contribute on special teams.

If Thomas was moved back to RB in December, and is at RB now, why would you believe he would have any impact at LB? Who cares what he was practicing at before December in preparation for the Rose Bowl. Unless he changes positions again, he's now a RB, and not a LB.

I don't see his brother listed as a grad assistant, maybe hes starting in the fall?

Either way, grad assistants have a very short life span, he better make sure he loves UK because his brother will probably only be there for 1 year (and be working/studying 18 hours per day)

True, but his brother does still have to work there. I imagine it would be uncomfortable for him if his brother flips this late in the game.

His brother is listed as a Kentucky AD intern in this article.

I read GA in another thread. Either way, there's ongoing family ties there.

He will most likely be out of a job after this year, so he can keep "trolling" us(I am not even sure that is what is happening).
UCLA seems like they are struggling or something? That state has a crap load of talent and it seems like they are depending on cross country hail mary's very late in the game.

Sounds like someone has figured out Jimmy Boogers pretty well....

Scout 300 Offensive Tackle Kai-Leon Herbert De-Commits From Michigan

"Hey just to inform you, I've de-committed from Michigan," Herbert told Scout. "Just things went south. They showed their true colors and it wasn't for me."

"I know what's best for me and they ain't got it."

Friend is a UCLA die hard. I just don't think they have the appetite to dig in and compete ($$$$) with USC and other regional players. Great school, but Rose Bowl is old and fans are way more into bball.

I get that, but that state produces 1-200 1a players a year. USC will get the cream for the most part, but they should be ok beyond that with some highly talented kids. It just seems odd to me the east coast reach back this late in the game.

I don't think anybody at UCLA really cares all that much. They'd rather do OK, than not, but that is about the extent of it.

I can't help but wonder if UM's true colors has something to do with scholarships. They signed 29 last year and have 26 commits so far this year.
