next year's team has the potential to be in line with the other special years. 174-hwt, plus RBY and Lee at 141 could be something. I wonder if Lee bumps to 149 and Bartlett mans 141, unless Busiello is a big improvement over Verk. for 157, man i hope Berge can go. he could have a big year. Joe Lee vs Manville battle is also something to watch.

for those that watched Howard over the years, do you think he would be an AA candidate at 125 as a true frosh? (yes i know, if he puts in the work)

Next year will be good, the following year is THE YEAR

What are the possibilities Berge wrestles down to 149? Isnt that his more natural weight anyway? Lee moving up wouldnt be a bad idea though, thinks he'd mop the map with Sasso, idk about Eirman though.

The reason Berge wrestled so little last year was because he couldn't hold the weight.

We can't ID Nick's weight based on the other teams. He beat Eierman this year, but will Eierman or Murin be the 149? Does Sasso go up to make room for Echemendia? What weight does Yianni go? Just put Nick where he'll be at his best.

Why doesn't Manville get any love? He did a pretty good job in spot duty last year wrestling up a weight or two.

This.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Manville in the lineup somewhere.

Kid is a warrior and a bruiser. Backs down from no one. Understood he’s prefers Greco, but would love to see him one season at 165.

Would have to figure all the higher level USA Greco tourneys have given him mental toughness & poise as well.

No way they make him drop to 149 again. I'll be pissed and Im just a fan. He sucked weight all last year and paid for it

Pure speculation, and just based on observation, but I would not count Berge better than 50/50 probability to continue wrestling.

Head injuries are nothing to fool with.

Lee appears more dynamic. Manville was at 165 into mid-January last year and had 1 bonus win.

The other issue is that, while he's had a number of good losses, he has zero good wins. Lee beat Wentzel and pinned Flynn.

No doubt he's tough as nails. I don't think he'd be a bad starter. I just don't see evidence that he'd be the better starter.

Honestly - I think Manville loves his gig, between the Army and PSU, I imagine he goes to school for free and I think being a backup 165-184 works well for a guy who wants to focus on Greco probably.

If our guys ever need upper body work a particular week, I bet he's the first person they get paired up with lmao.

When you're not selling the delicious cream filled donuts, are you a part-time shoulder surgeon?
Hmmm. I got my information about the shoulder on this board from 3 or 4 different posters so perhaps you should ask them and not me? Are you actually hoping one of our young men undergoes a surgery so that another of our young men remain the starter? Geez I hope not.

Here's what Brantt (who seems to be in the know) mentioned on 247:

"Berge was not re-injured in his match vs tOSU. He's struggling mentally to recover from what happened before the season started. Physically he's good to go. This is really no surprise since it was a very traumatic incident. Really makes you think."

The important thing is he is physically fine though.

Nope, not hoping for surgery for anyone, and I'll just root for whoever we send out next year, no matter who that is.

And with all due respect to you and the other 3 or 4 posters, I'd just prefer to wait and hear official news instead of accepting a medical prognosis from folks on here. No reason to doubt you or anyone else, just my opinion.

Punt Year 3 AA at 74, 97, Hwt.

Would be crazy. Not actually what I think will happen just throwing it out there.

Why wouldn’t he beat Eierman? He’s done it. The wrestler to consider avoiding and wonder which weight class is .....

Yianni.

Did you say that at begining of the year with AC Berge and Conel?
It was no punt this year with those three healthy. They’ve lost at least 30 points because of injuries. Shak would have gone 184 and Brooks would have RS’d. So with the Conel injury you’re probably looking at a wash or maybe extra points with Brooks in and Conel out. But the other two missing is a net loss of at least 30 pts at nationals.

Right no way anyone would have said this was a punt year going into the season. Injuries changed everything and heck we are still in it.

Well ok that's great if there actually is any medical news to wait on. Does anyone have a current, up to date link on surgery for Robbie Howard. I can't find anything current, meaning this month, on the topic. Without anything current I will believe he is healthy.

My point is more about available redshirts between the 2 seasons. This season we could have redshirted/Olympic redshirted Brooks, RBY, Nick Lee, Hall, Manville, Berge, Verk, Kerkvliet.... and probably Cenzo/Cassar if those two would have qualified for an Olympic redshirt. Plus you could delay the enrollment of Joe Lee and Starocci to keep spacing. Now in 2021 you have way less guys who have an available redshirt and you’ve already started the eligibility clock of the freshman.

I don’t post a lot, but in conversations with friends I advocated for punting this season. Now obviously the wrestlers personal choices have a big say on these decisions and I have no information on that. But from a pure roster/program view I was for punting 2020. Plus you get the enjoyment of Iowa knowing we didn’t even try during their title year.

Because he is a Greco Roman wrestler, can't get take downs or prevent them and took a year off not to improve that problem.
