Uguev gave up a quick two, got the next five on a step out and two slick go-behinds, gave up a step out, then spun for two more near the edge, which is being reviewed with 18 seconds left. Challenge lost, it's 8-3 Uguev, and that's how it'll end. Gilman is back in.
Smith acting shocked that an officiating call is bad when concerning a Russian in the Olympics is precious. Where has he been?
Uguev steps out with around 30 secs to go and no call by ref, spins around for 2 pt td.

Gilman gets Abdullev, who had Uguev even deader to rights than Gilman. It won't be easy but win and he wrestles for bronze.

DT looks like the 2018 version, awesome pace and tenacity and on a gold medal mission!
DT gets to sit till Final X. But as Smith says, it’s all about tomorrow! Yazdani looked beatable.
And we'll get DT Yazdani part 3 for Olympic gold. DT was a machine there, Punia had no chance.
Boom! On to finals! Screaming at the TV at 5:45 am! Dog is like WTF?!?!! Sooo pumped for DT! He just completely owned Punia. Had a nice tilt followed by chest wrap. Takedowns were easy once he got going! Walking on air!
After watching DT roll over his 1st 3 opponents it gives me a greater appreciation for Bo at trials.

How the hell does Maroullis get put back on the clock in the 2nd period? I just don't get the passivity

That's why I can't become a good freestyle fan when the officiating is so subjective and inconsistent. Then the judges get it wrong when there's a protest that's on video replay.
Agree the 2nd passivity there was surprising, but Helen needed to find a score there. She’s in a good position to get bronze.
Three great matches by DT. And, as a bonus for making the finals (and earning a medal), he qualified himself as the US representative in the 2021 World Championships later this year! He won't have to go through the trials.

DT's title match will be in the 5:15 a.m. Eastern session tomorrow...but closer to 6:30 a.m.-ish #PSUwr
These Olympics with the NLWC representation, and David Taylor in particular certainly won’t hurt PS wrestling recruiting.

Shame Finals weren't this morning, DT was just getting warmed up there and probably would have given Yazdani fits in the second period with his conditioning advantage. Still like his chances, looks like he is back to the form that led to a world championship in 2018.
