2021 Olympic Wrestling Match Thread and USA Wrestlers.

Uguev gave up a quick two, got the next five on a step out and two slick go-behinds, gave up a step out, then spun for two more near the edge, which is being reviewed with 18 seconds left. Challenge lost, it's 8-3 Uguev, and that's how it'll end. Gilman is back in.

Yazdani up 1-0 at break, only a shot clock point vs a game Naifonov. Now 3-0 off a hard earned single. Yazdani great D to fight off a single for only a step out, 3-1. Time running out, he gets four exposure defending a single. 7-1 final.

Punia put on the shotclock 1:30 into the match, and Punia doesn't score. 1-0 Taylor, and then he gets in on a single leg for a 3-0 lead at the 4:00 mark of the match and now it's tilt time for some more. 7-0 now.

Maroulis up! Both competitors were Gold Medalists in Rio.

No score through first minute.

Maroulis on the clock.

Maroulis down 1-0.

End of 1.

Maroulis back on the clock.

Now 2-0.

Japan on the clock, Maroulis gets the 1, but less than 30 seconds left.

Helen gives up a shot clock point, not much action so far vs Japan's Kawai. Down 1-0 at break.

Kawai in on a leg but great D by Helen. She's on shot clock again, deservedly so. Picking up pace now, but she's down 2-0. Minute left. Kawai on clock. Helen running out of time but a step out will win. Can't do it. 2-1. Helen will wrestle for bronze.

These Olympics with the NLWC representation, and David Taylor in particular certainly won’t hurt PS wrestling recruiting.

Cael’s plan for world domination is coming together nicely. And the next wave of NLWC Olympians is already in the pipeline. 👍
