2021 World Championships

must be miserable to live life so paranoid lol. i'm picking rby and hopefully the team title's sewn up for iowa so i can root for him against the doper
Lmao. Keep spending more time on this board than your own, attempting to ingratiate yourself to posters while simultaneously trolling PSU guys. Very transparent.

I'm not not as up to date on International wrestling, so forgive me if I missed this....

Has Dake faced the guy who beat him at the Olympics? Was he in the bracket?

I'll defend @js8793 here actually. I'll admit that his posts do give off "backhanded" vibes at times. But he's actually pretty much the same guy on HR with Iowa wrestlers also. Saw his recent analysis telling HR posters to relax when they said Henson is on the same level as Mendez as a prospect.

Have no problem with JS..hes actually one of my favorites as far as Hawk fans go. Full transparency, when he visits I kinda look at him as though he's their (HR) version of me so I have somewhat of a soft spot for him.

Shout out to the young Azeri kid who made DT wrestle for a minute or two. I'm sure he appreciated that. Maybe a name to keep an eye on for bronze in 2024.

I wonder if he ever gets bored drilling on everyone until the finals. Good adjustment going to the body with the seatbelt and happy to see that bar/half series come back. He was pinning some really good dudes with that a few years ago, including Naifonov. Very fortunate they didn't lead him out in cuffs after what he did to that poor guy in the quarters.

Now you're just "over compensating" with the Taylor compliments... :)

Lol well as soon as he gives me a chance i'll be back with a dig at him.

How do we think Yazdani is going to approach the match? Stick with the Olympic strategy or try to reestablish his underhook? He looked a little more underhook heavy against Naifonov this morning than he did against him at the Olympics, but the stalling strategy was his most successful so far.

No idea. You are way more versed in freestyle than me. Only became a fan of the style in past 3 or so years. Finally starting to grow on me.

On the one hand sticking with that strategy got him as close as he's been. On the other hand if he loses again going with the same strategy, the coaches may be second-guessed out of jobs. So I think they switch back to early activity, initiating scrambles. And then DT gasses him late.

Great question.

One line of thinking: Yazdani could think the “do nothing” strategy got him within 20 seconds of gold.

Other line of thinking: Yazdani could go back to do what he knows best - the undertook & pushing, & try not to gas himself after intermission.

I can’t wait to watch the adjustments unfold of both of them.

Yeah, it's a tough call. At some point, I'd think you have to trust your conditioning and training, especially against a prolific scorer. Leaving the match within one score against DT is a lot to ask.

An interesting note in this is that Iran brought in a new coaching staff after the Olympics and the new coaches spoke publicly about preparing for DT being their top priority.

There is probably a tissue shortage in Iran, since Covid hit and all that crying after DT's gold medal match at the Olympics made it their top priority.

Maybe Taylor decides how this one goes and Yazdani doesn’t get to wrestle his match whether it’s underhook offense or stall/keep it tight. Taylor’s coach plans like Yaz & his coaches got a plan or something
Good point and very true. DT's had 3 cracks at him now. He's struggled to find scores early, but maybe he figures it out and it's never in doubt start to finish. I actually think Yazdani's lungs held up pretty well in tokyo so it was promising to see DT score when he needed it when Yazdani wasn't gassed. I think if he creates enough exchanges, he wins again. He's a better wrestler.

Wait what? Meandering a bit? Yaz does have lungs just ask Pico, Dt just has better ones. Best 2 in the world IMHO. Sads is not included, he is not human.

His Olympic match was pretty good against DT. Boring, but suited him well.

If he gets too crazy with his offense, he’s going to get caught underneath DT, and end up in a scramble. Which is exactly how he gets gassed.

Would be a damn shame for Yazdani if DT found that arm bar tomorrow.
