2022 Recruiting Class Thread

The NY LB IMO is almost a must have.

Just curious, but why do you say that? Do we know how he has performed at camps recently?

I ask, because FB competition in NY isn't exactly stiff. They produce very few blue chip recruits, and aren't known for producing high-impact college players.

Not a knock on the NY LB recruit by any means, by the way. I just don't know much about him.

I like his size, I like some of his measurable stuff, seems a lot like I believe his name was Dylan Moses from Bama a few years ago. I know it doesn’t mean much but I really like that he is the top rated kid in his state. I like the idea of “the best” go to Penn State.

in the end it is just a thought of mine with no real back up but that.

Thanks.

Admittedly, I haven't seen him, so was just curious. Your take is certainly more informed and valid than mine.

I'm a little behind... Who are we talking about here?

Great balls of Fire, an actual discussion of a recruit that was civil! Good job guys, ME LIKEY.😎

Clifford won the accuarcy award?

What the hell happened??
300 lb men started chasing him
Footwork TheGLOV. Footwork. He's just not properly set to throw.
Would be the 3rd on my list. I mean it goes hand in hand with keeping your eyes down the field and progressing through your reads rather than bailing after 1, but off platform is all the rage now.
Regardless, not the place or time.

Allar looks great!

Haha, exactly. And this is why these camps are a good measure, but not the most important measure. Probably better predictors for DBs in coverage drills or O/D linemen in line drills -- as those at least somewhat replicate game action.

But for QBs......the difference between these camp sessions and live action is enormous.

Either way, you'd rather see your guy do well at a camp than not do well. And Allar has been terrific.

Anyone here with QB fundamental knowledge? Does Allar need to tighten up his throwing motion at all? He seems to have a tad bit of extra motion in his wind-up, or is that just a casual observation by someone like me that has no experience with that kind of stuff. Curiosity on my part.

Besides that, the ball jets off of his hand at the point of release in impressive fashion. Looks like he can make all the throws with ease.

I do NOT have QB fundamental knowledge beyond that of a casual fan, but I did notice the wind up. But then, Justin Fields was a perfect example of having a longer-than-typical wind up or hitch in his throwing motion. But velocity is great and he's on target. Those two traits, IMO, are so crucial -- accuracy and velocity. The other mechanical issues can be addressed more easily.

(of course, poise and decision-making in the pocket are key as well, but can't really be gauged accurately during QB drills like this)

Focus on his wrist when he throws. I think windup is less important if a kid has the ability to really snap his wrist and make the ball spin. Think Mahomes, which some have compared Allar to (in terms of throwing motion.)

Good update from Ryan Snyder who thinks we have a decent shot with DL Zane Durant.

He gave this away for FREE!

- Over/Under 6 commitments before end of Summer? @Teesus18

I've spent the past couple of nights preparing for what might happen over the next few days, so that alone should tell you something. As of Friday morning, I think we could easily see six commitments before we reach the halfway point in July. In fact, I think we could see six commitments in just the next three days.

Here's who we know are making a move in the days ahead: LB Keon Wylie (July 3), DT Kaleb Artis (July 4), DT Zane Durant (July 4), DE Tyreese Fearbry (July 4) and RB Nick Singleton (July 6). That doesn't include junior college OL JB Nelson, who's been very quiet but is expected to announce any day now.

There is a universe where Penn State lands all six of those players in the next few days. Yes, I do believe Durant is a real option for the Nittany Lions. In fact, I'm close to logging a FutureCast. I've already logged picks for Artis, Nelson and Wylie.

But even if they only get four or five commitments out of that group, which is likely, we're still watching RB Kaytron Allen, DE Dani Dennis-Sutton, CB Jordan Allen, CB Cam Miller, CB Keenan Nelson and Saf. KJ Winston in the weeks ahead. All of those players are realistic. If I had to set and over/under for the summer, it would be 9.5.
