2023 "Coaching Carousel" - UNC, Stanford, Princeton...

I really hope he stays at Oregon State
Same.

Mineo then said Ayres will interview with Stanford next week. So it looks like Palo Alto isn't rushing to hire anyone today, at least.

Though they should get someone real soon, because the longer they wait, the more likely Koll's commits follow him to Chapel Hill.

They need a big hire though if they want to hang on that recruiting class and it needs to be soon like you said. I think Pendleton is an outstanding coach and would possibly keep most of the recruits in the fold. Pyles said on FRL today that Koll said he’s going after those kids like he should. I’m sure at least a couple will follow him

Stanford is still on the quarters system. The 2023 recruits don't start classes for 3 weeks. I'm not sure of the exact NCAA rule regarding timing (i.e. when the NCAA considers them to be enrolled -- if it's an NCAA date or a school date), but theoretically they could still follow Koll without bothering with the portal.

2/3 of Stanford's 2023-2024 classes are from east of the Mississippi or Minny suburbs (including most of the biggest names: Neves, Consiglio, Norman, Hanson). These would be the most likely to follow Koll to UNC. Valencia and Parco are the biggest names from CA.

Who’s the logical choice to succeed Ayres at Princeton? Joe Dubuque? Reece Humphrey?

Reece, despite his poor choice in undergraduate institution, appears to be highly respected and seems like he would be great at recruiting. Princeton sells itself and they’ve shown that you CAN win an NCAA title at an Ivy League school. Good combination, I’d think.

Sean Gray and Joe Dubuque are both associate head coaches at Princeton, and both are RTC coaches. Gray has been at Princeton 12 years, Dubuque 11. Gray is also the RTC executive director.

Humphrey is the RTC head coach, but not on the varsity staff.

I'd expect the school to lean toward continuity -- assuming Gray and Dubuque don't both follow Ayres to Stanford.

On his show this morning Willie said that Terry Brands put in for the NC job that Koll got. Uh oh, lol. I posted that on Hawkeye Report just to see what their reactions would be.
Oh the entertainment value that would have brought. The crazier of the two for sure, unrestrained. Just think of it.

Would any of the current kids have followed him?

Is there trouble brewing in paradise?

Call me crazy, but I think Terry has a steep uphill battle landing any big job on his own.

Ramos if Terry were hired:

What self-respecting institution would pass over a guy like Koll for Terry? Terry may be a great guy to have in your room/corner, but you don't want him as CEO, right? I'm curious if he just wants a new opportunity, or if there are things he's hoping to escape in Iowa City.

Word has it he is looking for a way out of town, ever since he lost that embarrasing contest with Uncle Carmine. Carmine claimed he was twice the man as Terry and....

It's only going to get better folks, buckle up for the next 4+ years.

Yes, ladies and gents. Like many of you already assumed, I will be formally withdrawing my name from contention in the Princeton gig, as well.

I hate wearing ties, and lord knows they won't let me hide tobacco chew and cuss as I please.

Maybe the next opening will be the right fit.

Pretty sure this is exactly what Terry told his wife.

Crop is holding out for his Dream School (TM).

Does McDonalds still have a clown college? Are they interested in starting a wrestling program?

You know, Terry has been instrumental in developing many NCAA All Americans and champions as well as world and Olympic medalists and champions. It would serve some of you guys well, to show him a little more respect.

I realize it is easy to poke fun at the guy, but some of these posts sure come off as arrogant and in poor taste.

How much respect comes out of HR for manning, bono, sanderson. Go back to your board and cry.

I understand that boards can lack respect at times, but there are some on this board who just come off as arrogant. Maybe my midwestern upbringing makes that more of a cringeworthy offense, but at least now you know how you sound to some of us.

These guys (coaches and especially the Brands) pour (used correctly :)) their hearts into the sport and the kids. Although it is fun to joke about them, at times we can be a bit over the top. The clown comment hit me the wrong way. Just thought I would share my feelings since we all know how sensitive wrestling fans are.

Also, don't confuse me with a die hard fan of any team. I love wrestling and like to discuss it. I try to be respectful (although some of the political discussions may tend to give a different impression). I am/was a huge Retherford, Nolf, Nickel, Kemmerer, JB, VJ, almost any non major kid who AA's. I love seeing the smaller programs have success and I hate the NIL.

Good hire. I’m glad Pendleton stayed at Oregon State as well
I would bet (legally of course) that Pendleton used this opportunity to get a raise as well as other things such as improvements and program support. To that I say......Good for him

Don't want to start a new thread so I will post it here. I came back to my Hollidaysburg house this week and drove by the Frankstown Township Borough building. Directly across from it was a giant Aaron Brooks billboard advertising water. Negleys I believe. Same one I saw outside Berkley Springs. Go Aaron!

You mean to tell me that NIL money was attached to an actual use of name/image/likeness? I didn't know you could do that!

Lack of respect you say? I don't recall you once telling your midwest brethren to stop referring to us as peds. Not once, yet you find our "lack of respect" a problem? When cleaning you should always start at home.

Stunning I know. A reliable source confirmed that the NCAA is investigating because they are convinced that there must be something nefarious when a school actually follows the rule as written. They are putting the big dogs on this one.

The best thing about that pic is that Terry is trying to peel Tom's hands away. That is so classic and funny to me. I love the passion, although I admit, he can lose too much control at times and it is a bad look.

I do appreciate their passion. To bad for Iowa fans that doesnt translate into recruiting. TnT having Bobby Telford calling top recruits. That's a much worse bad look than their mat behavior.

I have never nor will I ever refer to PSU as the PEDs. I have a great deal of respect for Cael and what he has done and the way his team conducts themselves. Maybe I could have called them out but usually I just ignore those comments. Perhaps you should be flattered that I think enough of you guys to voice my opinion because I actually believe you guys have the possibility of change. People who call PSU the PEDs are unlikely to evolve.

If you do not like it that a wrestling fan and a neutral observer finds some of the posts over here seemingly steeped in arrogance, then either ignore me and continue on or change your posts.
