2024 NCAA's - Match/discussion threads (merged)

Can't forget the haters all roaring when Tyler goes out in the first round. After that he simply makes an incredible run and the kid who beat him is nowhere to be found.

consi-SF 184: #6 B.Truax vs. #4 Munoz (ORST)
P1:
Munoz jumps the gun, caution, restart
Bernie on his knees, Munoz on one two, tying up in the center
Bernie on 1 knee
Munoz half shot & back to their feet
Back on the knees again, both, tied up
Back to the feet, Munoz moving forward, Bernie close to the edge
Munoz tries a duck, Bernie catches him, no dice
Munoz shoots for an ankle, nothing
Circling, tying up, Munoz moving forward
Munoz gets behind for the takedown 3-0
Takes Bernie to his back & is getting nearfall
Munoz gets the fall
That's unfortunate. Yuck!

#4 T. Munoz FALL #6 B.Truax (2:29)

Bernie going for 5th against #9 Bennett Berge (SDSU)

152.5

5th (Truax) or 3rd (Kasak) would be 153.5. If both win, it’s 154.5.

Four champions is 168.5 - 170.5. Of course 5+ champions does it. But so does four champions plus 3rd and 5th.

And bonus can get us there too with four champions without 3rd / 5th.

Several paths.

What are the chances SVN's phone isn't getting calls from the Iowa City area code?

Seriously though, if Kasak can go back down to 141 and keep his strength he's going to be a beast.

For the uninformed (definitely not me I promise), does Bartlett have another year or is he done? If he does, do we assume Kasak redshirts and goes back down to 141 after? Is that cut sustainable? Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

Many Iowa fans are furious at Brands for equivalent stupidity. Kennedy was up by 1 with choice in the 3rd against Lewis - went neutral (who knew Mekhi was so good on top?). Got taken down, escaped and lost by 1.

“Period 3: Neutral start. Lewis scores a takedown and takes a 5-3 lead. Kennedy scores an escape and closes the gap to one point. Kennedy shoots a takedown late, but Lewis holds him and wins 5-4.”

That’s Tom Ryan-esque big brain stuff
Gonna give Brands the benefit of the doubt on this one. Cenzo had a real tough time getting out from under Lewis.

I don’t think Kasak looks like a small 149. Not sure he sees 141 again. And Beau is returning regardless.

First world problems

Posters have said that Beau has 1 more year and plans to use it. Would assume Kasak takes RS since he has 1 and SVN/BB do not? No clue what happens the following year if Kasak cannot make 141

Why do guys keep posting this??

Kasak is 10x more likely to wrestle at 157 than he is at 141.

What team has half the board been watching for the last decade? Can we round up Goggles and the rest of this crew and limit the Kasak to 141 posts to one thread that I can ignore?

Levi's winning sequence is exactly why you train all 3 styles.

To stand out of that sprawl and immediately take a Greco upper-body go-behind, then without blinking drop to a leg -- that's the kind of thing you don't do by training exclusively folk, and certainly not as fluidly as Levi did it.

And then kicking the back of Andonian's knee and going right to the half -- that has Jason Nolf written all over it.

Plus Levi might be the best I've ever seen at hooking the bottom leg while finishing a takedown. Did it again to finish the pin.
