2024 NCAA's - Match/discussion threads (merged)

I always took Carter as a free wheeling wrestler, but when he had to circle the wagons, I saw that he was as disciplined a tactician as we have ever had. He completely shut down any attempts to re-injure the knee while creating his own opportunities given his limitations.
Yeah, he's got a Mark Hall-level wrestling IQ

Feel absolutely gutted for MM. However, it is entirely his fault. Him, more than any other wrestler this year, wrestled the full 7 minutes of every single match (that went the distance). He picks the national finals to wrestle 6 minutes and 15 seconds. Definitely a learning experience. At the end of the day, he had to pay the Cael tax sooner or later. LOL!

BTW, Carter's match is a great example of how different college is from HS.

Welsh was a volume scorer in HS. High pace, very good technique, but also he overpowered a lot of guys.

This year everybody was stronger, or at least strong enough to neutralize his power -- including One-Legged Carter. And Welsh wrestled this entire tournament like Lewan: 4-2, 4-1 SV, 4-1 SV, 4-1 SV, 0-2.

It really makes you appreciate how good some of our true freshmen have been -- like Nico, Zain, Mark, Levi, etc., ... that they can wrestle at a high level and put up at least moderate scores.
