2024 Olympics Wrestling (merged)

RBY's match is the perfect example of the difference between someone who has focused on freestyle their entire life and someone who has not. It's why for many Americans there is an adjustment period when concentrating on international wrestling as you need to unlearn certain habits and learn others. RBY losing had nothing to do with the weight class IMHO. He made a boatload of tactical errors and then had to go into desperation mode late.

Rei Higuchi (JPN) with a quick 10-0 tech of Darian Cruz (PUR)

Hold on, I jumped the gun, Challenge Cruz, he wins & the score is changed to 10-1
Higuchi finishes the Tech in the 2nd period & the match ends 12-2 (3:23)

I’m a bit worried about Spencer vs Harutyunyan. Harutyunyan goes hard for 6 min and Spencer seems to gas a bit
I've never seen Spencer wrestle better, but I've seen him gas a number of times.

It looks like they plucked a bunch of Amish guys out of the fields of Lancaster to wrestle here.

I think Roman might end up fine at 57kg--but he definitely needs as much world experience as he can get.

Experience had nothing to do with how easily he gave up his legs. His reaction time (speed) was off early. Sure, he did crawl to the edge, but that's a mistake even veteran FSers try to get away with.

And then yeah, desperation mode after that. RBY is the fastest guy in the bracket - but it sure didn't look like it.

The Armenian is definitely better than Zou. He will also attack Spencer more -- then again, so would the camera crew. To be seen if that is to Spencer's advantage.

I could have been the cut. But I think it may have been the moment.

100%. He usually darts in and out but this match he just handfought. It was weird

Are the olympics too expensive for the Iranian fans? OIt's disorienting to see Yazdani wrestle w/o the patented chant.

Do we have mat assignments for the upcoming matches?

I thought RBY started the match extremely tentatively, and maybe that is an experience issue.
