2024 Olympics Wrestling (merged)

Zain's vs opponent obviously is tough but NLWC has gotten a good look at him. Nick Lee wrestled him last year and gave up 3 takedowns off a throwby. Similarly, he gassed hard and almost got pinned on a throw.

I apologize, confused did Nick get the TD’s? Or lost after nearly pinning him after he faded? Thanks

74kg MFS - Semi-Final- Kyle Douglas Dake VS Daichi Takatani (JPN)

P1:
Hand fighting & head tapping to start the match

Back to the head tapping & looking for an opening
Dake reaches for a leg, nothing, Dake reaches again, nothing, not fully committed shots
Takatani deep in on an ankle, Dake reaches over the top & gets both of Takatani's ankles, they keep working, Dake tries a chest wrap, but Takatani comes out on top & the ref is at the table, no points awarded, yet.

Back to action & tying up, Takatani trying an underhook, but can't do anything with it
Takatani shoots deep in on an ankle again, Dake defending, comes over the top, Takatani gets Dake elevated & adds an exposure, 5-4 Takatani, adds 2 more exposures & it's 9-4 Takatani, restart. Takatani had Dake all twisted up there.

I'm not sold on this bow and arrow being a legal move. The way the knee is jacked is just begging for an injury. I know Zain uses it with great efficiency. It just looks too dangerous to me. I think it needs to be banned.

Zain got the turns, and he did it by pulling the leg in the turn direction. The Bulgarian dude looked more to be wrenching it up. In a move like that, if it is not being executed correctly, it should be stopped.

We still have 2 NLWC left. Both will have a tough time. Fingers crossed we get one to the finals. But ok with any medal.

I just had to let it out man. I'm ok now.

I feel you. Noted in yesterday's thread that after Brooks' loss, I went into an arrythmia my Kardia monitor called "unclassified" (pretty sure it was supraventricular tachycardia - been there before). 164 beats per minute for about 5 minutes. Thankfully it wasn't a bout of AFIB. Getting old sucks.

Yep…totally agree. Getting old does suck!

I was really awesome at being young.

Never thought anyone could get to Dakes legs that much
Most opponents don't dare to try because of his counter-offense. Sidakov and Takatani proved that confidence in your finishes can really pay off. Both were able to get to the leg when they wanted and both finished consistently.

The Japanese dude has been wrestling like he's possessed. Shocked that he scored a lot, but not shocked he won.
He was a very promising prospect back in the day. Had a great battle with Pico at jr worlds, was immediately their rep at 66kg and then disappeared for a long time. Popped back up in 2022. I think his older brother was their rep for a few of those years.

Kyle needed to dust off his sprawl when it was clear what Takatani was doing. That's what I was thinking anyway. He usually wants guys to get to his legs, but you gotta have a plan B after that Sidakov match.
