Dake up as well. Let’s go! Emami is a tough opponent

Dake so physical! Manhandles Emami on the edge for 2

When Dake attacks like this he looks unbeatable but he just doesn’t always do it. Up 3-0 after a stepout

Beautiful td by Dake right at the buzzer. Up 5-1 at the break

Dake looking incredible!! Another Td and gut. Up 9-1! If he keeps this attack rate all tournament he’s going to be very hard to beat

Dake with the fall (or tech?). He looked absolutely unbelievable. So good against a really good opponent
It makes you appreciate how good Jason Nolf is too.

Takatani looking good against Tsabolov. Up 6-0 in the first. Takatani lost to Dake 6-4 at worlds last year but was leading late. Takatani with the tech! Looks like he should challenge Dake but if Dake attacks like last match I can’t see anyone beating him

Kayla goes down 6-6 on criteria. Gave up a 4 and a challenge point. That challenge point comes back to haunt her
I hate that part of wrestling. It's so unfair to the athlete. Why penalize an athlete? You only get so many challenges. Why ever have a match decided by a challenge. Earn it on the mat.

That said. I believe the officiating has been very good at these Olympics.

It makes you appreciate how good Jason Nolf is too.
I was thinking that. I think the main difference is that Jason can’t match his physicality. Dake’s physicality (brute strength) was on full display. Again. His opponent wrestled well and never backed down but you could the see toll and I’d even say surprise at Dake’s strength at times.

I just read through the entire thread. There are some ignorant comments, mainly from a few posters, that are cringe worthy. It just makes me appreciate this Board even more.
There’s one particular, salty Burroughs/Manning fan on there. Chances are AB will shut him up in coming years

So many Russians at 74kg. Rassadin just won and now we get Zhamalov vs Valiev

Just went back and watched her match. What a great comeback! Just wondering why Kayla didn't get exposure on her 1st takedown?

Zhamalov down 5-3 with a min left. Valiev wrestling really well

Valiev wins! Dake will destroy whoever comes out of the bottom. Takatani will be his toughest bout for sure

Holy shit!!! Challenge thrown out for fleeing and it’s won. Zhamalov gets the win with the penalty point. Crazy!! Horrible way to lose

I didn't notice the exposure off her 1st takedown. That was a fantastic match. Kayla wrestled well & was coming on strong at the end, but she just ran out of time. I'm not sure why they challenged that call. It looked good to me. Tough loss. Hopefully, she gets pulled back in & has a chance at a bronze.

Ridiculous win for Jamalov. Valiev’s coaches didn’t even care. Poor guy.
It’s crazy that you can challenge for fleeing. I think it should just be for scoring sequences. The 3 refs didn’t call fleeing on the mat so for it to then get challenged and won after the match is over is just bs in my mind. Brutal ****ing loss for Valiev

Can't believe that happened.

Anyone have links to Dake's matches? Peacock does not have the replays from this morning at all.

I believe the athlete has the option to toss the brick back.

I'd also like to see a penalty point in folk. Maybe it would stop coaches from throwing lunger breaks.

HR (GIA? whatever) will have him penciled into the lineup for a 3rd time.
Hard pass. Decide it on the mat instead of on a computer replay. I've never understood why people want to penalize an athlete with no wrongdoing. Hell, we can't even get replays right many times, no matter the sport.

Draws are out for tomorrow. Zain gets Iranian phenom Amouzad 1st round.

Snyder's draw is pretty good--would have Taz in the semis.

Azapira vs Taz first round!! Azapira is one of the 3 best guys in the bracket. I think Taz wins but man is that a tough first round match. Azapira beat Snyder 6-3 this year at the Zagreb

I’m not sure what to think about Zains overall draw. His side is definitely the harder one. Amouzad is obviously very very good but one of his main advantages is his pressure and strength which Zain absolutely matches. If Zain can negate Amouzads underhook ( very tall task) and watch out for the whip over from over/under he can absolutely win this match. Yianni never beat Amouzad but had a few fun matches against him. Last one was 13-8 I think. He won a world title in 2022 but lost to Musukaev last year. He is a very big 65kg but so is Zain. Should be a great match

Winner of this should make the semis where they most likely would see Musukaev. I think Musukaev is a horrible matchup for Zain if Musukaev comes in in shape. He is so athletic and dynamic but other than last year at worlds he is almost always going to gas and usually gas hard. Last year though he came in in shape and looked incredible on his way to a world title. Zain needs to keep it close through the first period and then really push the pace in the second and put Musukaev to the test.

Austin Gomez wrestles the legend Haji Aliyev first round. Musukaev gets Akmataliev. Winners wrestle each other second round

In my opinion either Kiyooka or Tumur Ochir come out from the top side

I liked the call. Don't really care how result came about. Hate stalling and fleeing. It's supposed to be a 6 minute match. It's running out the clock that is BS.

Objectively, Valiev was repeatedlly fleeing the hold. The ref didn't have the balls to call it. The rules allow for review, which takes some pressure off all refs and judges from responding in real-time.

Fix being in, highly unlikely. Not seeing either country as having some extra sway.

Some of these first round matchups have been insane. Zhamalov vs Kadi with the defending Olympic silver medalist going down in a pigtail bout! And now maybe the biggest first round match between world champ Tazhudinov and 2 time U23 champ Azapira. Just some brutal draws with the unseeded guys getting drawn in

Also, Kadi was about a second away from his tournament being over but the won challenge from Zhamalov keeps him in it for now

It's out now. I also use ublock origin which gets rid of all the ads.
That's what I do as well. When you open a specific it will give a message to turn off your adblocker in order to continue to watch. Ignore that message and slide the screen up and down. That message will disappear and you're good to go.

Dake's pin of the Iranian was fantastic. The Iranian probably had no idea.
To be fair, the Iranian knew the match was over the moment he was exposed so he wasn't trying to wrestle out of it. But, I also don't think he'd have gotten out regardless of the score.

It's an oddity I've noticed w/ Iranian guys, that they don't really fight off pins when they know hope is lost (thinking of Yazdani vs DT x2, but also others). I wish a fall had more value in Freestyle team scoring, etc.
