His legs are way to easy to get to. Probably didn't care much in high school because he would just power to a counter . It's different at this level.

I think the reason LL pushed Cruz when he was OOB was from the cheap right cross slaps to LL's head.

Davis also has a tendency to collapse to a hip when he’s in on a leg in scrambles. He did it last year too and it has cost him. I don’t think it’s a strength issue, just bad form or balance.

The thing I see in a lot of Davis matches is that he struggles to clear a whizzer
Look back at Carter's redshirt year and his first year in the lineup. He was a bulldog, always moving forward, could ride, and had a lot of matches go 1-1 to OT or he would win a 2-0 match with an escape and riding time point against AA wrestlers.
Not saying Davis is Carter, but as you said, it is rare to have neutral offense against AAs. For a lot of guys Neutral Offense develops in their career. Being tough, riding and grinding out wins can play at Nationals (2021 Carter). Not everyone is going to win 17-2.
He's a strong as a horse. He needs to spend more time inside than out. Let's see if he does this against rini
