A heads up on Wisky PBP

On Cenzo. Yes, the seeding hurts, but a LOT of wrestling left before St Louis, and the B1G tournament experience will help him. He looked better tonight, just a dumb, freshman mistake, that can be cured with experience. Learning experience.

On Nick. He'll see him again and when he does, can't fall asleep. Better intensity in the third, and he can beat him. Might see him two more times even.

On Mouse. Got his hand raised, that is what he does. He was himself. Keep getting your hand raised: Seems to be all the rage in Stillwater, so what, we have one guy who does it that way, works for me.

On Jimmy. That wasn't chopped liver that he took apart tonight, that was the #15 kid in the nation and he destroyed him. He's going to move higher in the rankings, and he's coming on now. I see MAJOR strides.

On Mark. THAT is the Mark Hall that we know, that we saw tonight. By the way, the guy he lost to last week had Bo Jordan on the ropes and gave up a late takedown and lost 3-2. Mr Mailbag is going to regret that quote today.

On 133. The ship has sailed. Get both guys experience, get them back in the room, and keep fighting. We now know we're taking 9 to St Louis, not 10, so it's all gravy now. We weren't getting any points at Nationals there anyway.

On Zain. Looked healthy tonight. Night and day from last Friday.

On Jason. Keeps on rolling, REO Speedwagon style.

On Bo. Pinning everyone in sight. NW on Sunday, then revenge in Columbus. Martin gassed tonight against Sammy.

Good for you, jrd23. Rule #1 is to know thy limitations...and I can appreciate someone who can admit to their weaknesses. I've got em too, no doubt!

I have a lot of weaknesses. If you ask my GF she can provide you with a comprehensive list of them.

I have to go back and re-watch but Hall hit a nice move for a feet to back... was kind of a foot sweep or inside trip to back and 4 NF. Sweet set up.

The kid stalled and clutched the final 15 seconds to avoid the Tech

Byers called it as a Lat Drop....

Lateral Drop is when you have an over-hook in on one side and you are chest-to-chest.....you step between other wrestlers legs as they are leaning back into you and throw them toward the over-hook side as you go to mat flipping them over your body with an under-hook throw on other side as you make the throw.

I gotta say i loved the way that Jimmy wrestled tonight, I think he finished almost all if not all the shots he took. It looked like he just let it fly out there and wasnt in his head. If he can wrestle like he did tonight he will make some noise. Gotta feel good for the Senior after a win like this.

Absolutely. I am seeing a different Jimmy right now. I am seeing a new Jimmy, who is arriving at a destination, with focus and purpose.

The match against pletch is going to be tough, but Jimmy is wrestling the way he/we/they always knew he could. Light switch came on and its bright at the moment.

so happy for Jimmy!

Biggest difference I saw with Jimmy tonight (actually heard as I didn't see dual only heard audio) was the fact that he got to his offense early and often.....and wrestled confident for 3 complete periods against a pretty good opponent. He's starting to get on a roll and the timing is great as PSU heads into the 2nd half of their season.

He is wearing people out. Tank goes on and stays on.

I thought the announcers did well tonight which is always a bonus for the Student U.

I do wish they would turn it on, at the time called for. Always panic when it doesnt come on right away, like Im going to miss something.

For goofer fans lurking....those large banners that were on the PSU v Goof match, do they do that for all the goof student U matches? Kind of miss it as tonight didnt have the RT and I thought the time clock seemed off by a second or two with the actual match action.

Jimmy looks fantastic right now.

Any points he can give us at NCAAs will be great, and he's definitely looking R12 to low AA potential with a major or two tossed in.

Go Jimmy.

He's beaten Thorn, Carton, Martin ... setting himself up for a decent seed at B1Gs.

His last 4 periods are the best he has wrestled in a long time.

Right now it looks like the B10 #3 seed goes to the winner between Jimmy and Pletcher.

Jimmy can beat Ashnault right now. But next up, NW, then Pletcher. First things first.
the 2nd pd Rideout of ashnault and the 3rd pd w carton show he is capable of something special.

If he puts a complete match together no doubt he can beat ashnault or anyone at 141.

Wow. From benching Jimmy for the rest of the season to beating Ashnault and Heil after four good periods against an unranked and #15 ranked wrestler.

I've been behind Jimmy since the beginning and have always believed he could AA if he got himself together. But the wild swings in expectations on here are just incredible. He's not beating Heil or Ashnault at this point. Maybe after another month of wrestling like this every single match and beating some top 8 guys.

Go Jimmy!

I'm with you. JG, for some reason, has been one of my fav wrestlers since coming out of HS and doing well at the scuffle during his RS year. Perhaps because he is so damn fast. I don't like to see the huge shifts in opinion because that means everyone is going to come down on him if he loses at the dance. His past matches are a really good sign, but, with all due respect, these are not the top 5 kids at his weight. So, the finish on shots, getting a good shot is making me feel better. I have not swayed in my opinion that he can AA. He is doing what we all thought and expected he would be doing right now.
Spyker - anything different at practice with JG?

Well, he can only wrestle who's in front of him, and since we've seen him take enough bad losses to guys he should've beat, or just hang on to eke out wins over guys he should beat soundly, it's encouraging to see him do what he's capable of. Results aside, he's doing things on the mat that we've not seen in awhile, stringing together moves, finishing takedowns, constant motion.

Jimmy isn't going to beat Ashnault or McKenna, but Jimmy don't need to beat guys like them to still AA.

And I think 15 different kids could beat Heil if the match played out right.

His new propensity to switch from a single to a double is a great development. We all would agree that his biggest issue on his feet has always been finishing his shots. He seems to have found something that is working for him now and I hope its working in practice against Zain, Nico, etc. If he can finish on them even a small fraction of the time, I would have some confidence that he could do it successfully against top 141 pounders.

Let's see how he does getting out from the bottom too. I've seen him explode to his feet off the whistle much more the past month than he ever did before. He used to like to see what his opponent was going to do first before attempting to escape. He needs to be much more aggressive (while being fundamentally sound) if he's going to successfully escape from the likes of Ashnault, Gross, Meredith at Nationals. Getting out from bottom is going to be key to being an AA again in my opinion.

His finishes were what was different in this dual. He never had any trouble getting in on a leg but mostly couldn't finish. His first TD was a thing of beauty. In on a single and immediately switch to a double and lift the guy off the mat so he can't counter.

Well, I know a bunch of folks that are going to Columbus in a week to cheer Jimmy, and all our guys, on. Schottenstein Center's gonna have some Blue & White in it.

Speaking of that. I live in the northern Kentucky/greater Cincinnati area. The wife and I have tickets to attend the match. I would enjoy the opportunity to meet some of you fine folks in Columbus before the match. Any takers or dinner plans?

Just saw the Jordan Joseph match. God is IJ boring
