Appears BOT will rubber stamp CJF extension/contract extended

Some Ohio State fans probably think Day got out-coached by Franklin because they didn't cover the spread. This nonsense is at every level. Tomlin is in a similar position with the Steelers. No matter how many times I point to his career record, and now the remarkable job he's doing with a depleted roster, I can't get my friends past he can't beat New England. Well, show me someone who can and let's hire that coach instead. These idiots always know the problem but can't ever tell you the solution.

Harbaugh is as close as you’ll probably get. 3-3 against New England in his last 6. 4-6 overall. 5 of the 6 losses were a td or less. Don’t think the Steelers have a chance though.

Once the numbers are out I wouldn’t be surprised if the jock sniffing, kool aid drinking Rutgers fans immediately start negotiating against themselves again to rework Schiano’s new Agreement upwards.

I haven't seen this mentioned. Six years through 2025. No numbers released.

So will it stop the lazy sportswriters from attaching Franklin's name to every coaching vacancy which occurs at a traditional power P5 school? Who am I kidding. They'll still do it.

Yeah, PSU may have bought a one year hiatus.......maybe.

So all the panickers on this board can finally relax.

That twitter post that Franklin made makes me think that part of the extension included more financial support from the department for assistants, facilities, etc.
Fitz said as much on his podcast

Franklin's winning percentage since 2016 (.789, 41-11 overall) ranks third among active FBS coaches behind Clemson's Dabo Swinney and Alabama's Nick Saban. Penn State learns its bowl opponent Sunday afternoon.

Yup. Better run him out of town.

Why?

Changes absolutely nothing in that regard..... 3 years, 6 years, 112 years. Absolutely zero difference.
It kind of does depending on why a particular writer/media person felt Franklin was a candidate for every job that comes open. If it was because he wasn’t paid enough or because his contract was coming up soon, then this should silence those folks. If it’s because they don’t feel PSU is a destination job, then this won’t quiet them.

Yes!!! Fantastic news! Locking up one of the top five coaches in the game is sweet. Congrats, Coach!

(Though I'd love it if he threw out that 2 point conversion "book" until at least midway through the 4th quarter)

hope they adjusted the buyout to a real number. that is as much as anything the cause of his name surfacing everywhere that opens.

Yep. I always laugh when people hold his first 2 years at PSU against him. His record in year 1 and 2 are entirely irrelevant. They could have been so much worse given the circumstances. He did a good job of keeping the program’s head above water before the completely turnaround in year 3 - much sooner than I would have expected.

i agree. The low buyout make him more attractive. However, at this point the only teams i think he would leave for probably have the cash to get whoever they want. An increased buyout may lessen the rumors about lesser programs like where FSU is right now
