Gia used to be the hottest lizard on the lot. She’s still does alright, but she didn’t adapt. Her boring style of push,push,pull is outdated. Shootings,suspensions,her Dad trying to run the show. She was going to her back often. Excuses were made. Then she was put on her back under the bright lights for all the lizard fans to see. Her Mom made a spectacle of herself. She ran away and hid. Her Dad told everyone in the lot that GIA was still the best. GIA posted her anus on the internet, got caught gambling. A rich lot owner tried to make GIA happy and level the playing field. GIA loves him,but he failed. Lot owners have been paying guys to laugh at her. The best paid hater would drive in
and make her cry so much that the lot owner would kick him out. He would just come back in a different rig and make her cry some more. He became a legend to lot owners and lizards. Her fans go to other lots to defend her. She’s been infected with HVI. She works the back half of the lot now with 4 or 5 other lizards fighting to be second best.

125: Robbie has to be back to 100% (no guarantee obviously...), but if he is, the top talent at this weight has cleared out. It's a long shot at this weight, but do Ramos, Noto, Figs, Barnett really inspire dominance?
133: Obviously, if Vito is the Vito that beat RGB and Fix at the NCAAs last year, forget it, but Nagao is #2 and Vito has been inconsistent in the past.
141: Beau can beat Real, and I think Allirez in on an ORS year. Not out of the question.
149: If SVN builds on the momentum from NCAAs, he'll be right there at the end. He definitely leveled up in real time during the tournament last year.
157: Haines should be the favorite.
165: This is a longshot because of the competition at the top (i.e. Carr and Keegan), but Mesenbrink's ceiling is sky high. He will win at least one at some point, but it probably won't be this year.
174: Starocci is the biggest favorite in college wrestling this year.
184: Truax is more an AA than a champion, but this isn't a great weight. Like 125, guys like Keckeisen and Munoz don't exactly inspire dominance.
197: Brooks is a clear favorite.
HWT: If Gable is back somehow, forget it, but if not, Kerk is as good as anyone else at the weight and probably a slight favorite to win.
It's a long shot for sure, but has there ever been a team where every starter has an at least plausible path to be an NCAA champion? If I had to guess, I'd set the over-under line at 4.5 (Starocci, Brooks, and Haines, then see who else is there at the end), which is pretty amazing in itself but obviously nowhere near 10, but if the stars align, this team could go way over on that.

Love Howard's potential if finally healthy, but Gumby can't stretch this far.
Fix is back at 133 so Nagao would have to likely beat both which is a tall task. Also, Truax is #2 and beat the #1 on the front side of the 2022 NCAA's (lost on the backside in the 3/4 match). He is more a champion than an AA.
Is it a given that messenbrink starts at 165 ?
I think 4.5 is spot on, my guess is if it was a place bet in Vegas the line would be more like 3.5
125 to me seems wide open . I don’t see a repeat winner here but maybe I’m just biased in my thinking. I have zero inside knowledge but I’m eager to see how good Howard can be.
I’ll go on a limb and say we see a different matchup in the finals at 165 this year.

A ten team football parlay a few years ago payed out at around 250-1. But keep in mind that’s for 10 even money bets .
I think the true odds of 10 even money bets or put differently 10 things happening with equal odds is 1000 to 1 .
if I just factor in Howard and randomly give him a 10 percent chance of winning and not 50 I think that pushes the odds to 5000-1

If you gave me a vegas bet at 5000-1 I’d take it for a few bucks . If vegas offered only 100-1 I don’t think any sane people would take it just die hard penn state nuts
As for Iowa in February I’d go somewhere between 20 - 1 and 50 to 1 .

I know you're usually in the know--but was this actually announced? Seems weird to me if he bowed out of a weekend at Worlds, but will come back for a "full" NCAA season.

Well I currently live close to iowa but no I don’t spend any time with iowa or iowa state squads . Friends though with some Hawkeye nuts that tell me every year penn state isn’t that good . Blah blah blah . There is a special kind of crazy everywhere .

It's not a given that Mesenbrink starts at 165, but if Facundo is the 165 starter, his odds are definitely zero against Carr or Keegan. Mesenbrink is a wild card because he doesn't have a record yet and is seemingly still on a steep learning curve. Again, I don't really see anyone beating out Carr or KOT, but I used Mesenbrink in the example because I think his odds are at least non-zero given the unknown. Assuming Facundo is the 165 kills the plan from the outset.
Second semester.
He’s currently in Orlando at the WWE Next training facility and Worlds was taking him away too much with training camps and travel.
But they have a training facility in Minneapolis, so it’s a bit more feasible to travel to duals and NCAAs
I think he was kidding you about betting. Something the Iowa and Iowa State boys got in trouble for doing.

he won't be in "school" - you get to take a minimum course load. they'll be cake classes and mostly all online.
Considering he's already graduated - its likely he never shows up to a single class or does a single piece of homework.
I don't necessarily agree with this assessment. Why don't we see if Alex has made a jump in the last 6 months before writing him off? He already has elite defense...just needs to develop and trust his offense skills as well. If I'm recalling correctly, he lost two close matches and got to a leg several times...just had trouble finishing. I'm sure Cael and Casey are working with him on this.

In reality, we have 2 freestyle world champs contending for 165. The incumbent is a full 165. The challenger is undersized, can go 157 if asked. Practice hasn't started yet. And both are eligible for an Olympic shirt.
The good feeling of that close dual loss to Carr, was more than overcome by losing to Heller at nationals and then getting dominated by Ramirez.
IMO Facundo is better than that one day in March, but he needs work on offense -- both attacking and finishing -- to make the podium. Let alone the finals.
Hopefully he gained that offense this offseason.
Alex could have made a jump in the last six months. I don't see any world where Facundo has made enough of a jump to challenge Carr or KOT, though. He certainly could beat Mesenbrink for the starting spot. That's the thing about Mesenbrink, we don't know where he fits in. Is he a backup to Haines & Facundo right now while he adjusts to D1 folkstyle? Or is he a potential national champ out of the gate since he's a U20 world champ, even in a completely stacked weight with two former champs in it? We'll get the answer to that soon enough.
Agreed I’m just a fan with no inside knowledge . So I’m always interested in hearing what people think they know or heard.
Freestyle medalist are good no doubt but lets see how they do in folkstyle in D1. To many media types banging the freestyle drum has people believing these kids are D1 champs out the gate. People cant get in their heads they are two different styles. Freestyle - European style, folkstyle - American, where you need to have mat skills. Of course Folkstyle is the best.
He convinced Blockhus to unretire so I don't think he'd do that and back out.
