Busiello 157 at Shorty Hitchcock

I heard 17th-hand that Berge had another setback. My source didn't have any idea if it was season-ending/career-ending or not. Hope he's good for his own sake.

Who knows.

Doesn't make sense for Pipher to be on a decent to 149 if this were the case unless it hit him complete out of left field, and very recently.

That said, it is obvious he is well beyond the standard concussion protocol, and I think Cael did say we may not see him much until March. Despite the detractors, it is worthy of concern.

Well one thing is for certain, freestyle really kicked us in the nuts this year.

Thanks Crop. Dang, we're just snakebitten this season :( Hoping Brady is ok.

It’s a reboot year.... not intended but with Teske in the portal, Berge, Conel, and Cassar hurt, Shak coming off injury. RBY and Joseph not wrestling much. Lee and Hall are the only ones with a lot of meaningful time or so it seems. The fact that a second place is considered a reboot now shows what level the program is at.

A "reboot" year? If you're suggesting this team has an ounce of quit or giving-up now because of circumstances, you'd be wrong. They may not win it all, not unlike any other year, but that culture, that thought, that idea, just isn't what's been created in the PSU program, top-to-bottom.

Fans on the other hand...

Did you read the entirety of the man's post?

Or did at any point in this year, starting from the day after 2019 NCAAs. And that includes the coaches.

Yeah. People are getting hung up on minor stylistic word choices these days.

I say the words are the finger, pointing to meaning. Why adopt outrage culture over the word (“focus”, “reboot”) when the meaning is right there?

Words have meanings. Reboots don't just happen -- they are deliberate choices.

Burning 2 shirts indicates the coaches chose the opposite of reboot.

The metaphor “reboot” does not necessarily mean something very specific just because you say it does.

going on lately

Words also have nuance and context and multiple meanings. To be intentionally obtuse in order to crucify the other side for things they did not actually say is what our politicians are doing.

Agree, but IMHO, you are the one being deliberately obtuse on this issue.

it’s been a year when they’ve encountered a lot of adversity in the first few months of the season and are going to have to exceed expectations in March to win another title.

is that what you mean by reboot?

Also, the poster’s usage was not “reboot” but a “not intended” “reboot”, which is an interesting and even poetic idea to mull over. That is, if this were a forum suitable for sharing thoughts without the Pavlovian backlash to the mere mention of certain unacceptable words instead of their acceptable near synonyms.

Well, that's a stretch -- disagreement over context = forum unsuitable for sharing thoughts.

Can we agree that "orange" was a good metaphor?

We can only assess this team from what we observe on the surface, as the behind the scenes events are rarely disclosed to us and probably none of our business. On the surface, this team’s effort is never in question. But, you have to have the jimmys and joes to win in March and unfortunately this team is down a few of those joes due to injuries. Do not mistake this rant as a concession to Iowa winning it all (or even winning in CHA), as I believe in “the plan” and back-up plan and suspect a few wrestlers step up in March and become a jimmy or joe!! :):)

Well done, half the board has veins bulging. At least I detected some satire with this post. Was I wrong?

Thanks to Bo Nickal, Sammy Brooks has some of the most recognizable cheeks in college wrestling.
Bo has great sportsmanship. He helps his victims up, and he helped that Hawkeye stretch muscles for flexibility and health. I think Bo even helped Myles Martin of Ohio State stretch eye-opening muscles.

That was a "textbook" Spladle (essentially a reverse Can-Opener) - often times you don't see pins on Spladles because the head, neck and top of a shoulder get caught on the body of party applying Spladle (because head and shoulders are to the inside - again, mirror opposite of a Can-Opener). You can see in the pic though that Bo has Sammy's shoulders dead flat on the mat... just a perfectly executed textbook Spladle.

Registered so far:
125 - Schnupp, Shunk (best non-PSU: Mininno, Maloney)
141 - Blumer (Boyd, Flores)
149 - Gardner
157 - Busiello (Saylor, Ross)
174 - Edsell (Foca, Reiniche)
197 - Hoopes (Cardenas)
HWT - Kerk (Pelusi, Fernandes, Wolfgram)
A nearly 30 yr old Steve Fittery has 6 straight pins to the title at the same weight he wrestled at American in 2011. WOW

First time I saw that move live it was being put on a three time PA wrrstling champ going for his fourth. Could have heard a pin drop in Hershey that day. I felt so helpless for that wrestler. Pretty much a done deal for getting stuck.

Well, who was it?

Pine Richland kid did it I assume for the win. Forget his name. It was not in the finals, maybe qtrs.
Just went to PA Wrestling website and confirmed that Jeremy Lengle from Pine Richland pinned jason betz at states. By the way what a great website , should have been more familiar with that website.

LOL, respect that dude's steez! Have you guys heard of the Bald & Fat Classic? (there's prob a thread here, but I didn't look)
http://baldandfatclassic.com/index.html
Excellent Division Names:
Tommy Toughnuts (19 & up) to
Past My Prime (25-35) to
Dead (36-45) to
Fully Decomposed (46+).

A 717 bro from York founded it, and the first year it was really small; wasn't sure what it's future held. It's grown a bit now, but I was playin around with entering with a few of the bsd guys last year...Ended up not pulling the trigger, but a few days later I scoured the brackets and caught a huge laugh when I saw Steve Fittery's name in there as a Tommy Toughnuts Champ. LOL, can you imagine a 1x Regional placer who hit the keto & gym for a few weeks and said to himself 'ya, eff it, let's roll' then show up & realize the 2x All-American is across the mat from you? Nothing to do but lean into it & take your matwiping like a man at that point, right?

But I think it's awesome that that guy keeps doing Opens. Does anybody know anything else about him? Does he coach or teach part time in a wrestling club? Or does he work finance with Nico and just do the occasional weekend warrior beatdown for sh*ts & giggles? Cuz the latter would be extra awesome.
