It's tough to root for them honestly. I don't care so much about the equal pay stuff (though they don't generate the same money) but Rapinoe is just the most obnoxious person ever with her fake stances to be PC. If she wasn't retiring she wouldn't want transwomen playing women's sports. Go Netherlands!

Yep, between their quest for equal pay (if they want equal pay prove they can play equally as well as the men....), their obnoxious "leaders", and their disrespect for the national anthem, I too hope they lose every game. But I don't consider kickball as sports entertainment, so I likely won't know one way or the other.

Agreed. And this isn't anti-womens sports for me. I think the WTA provides a great product and college women's volleyball is great. Just this team and those in the WNBA who wouldn't even have a league in the men didn't pay for it.
Just my opinion, but I believe that the USA will not win this World Cup. First, this team is not as good as the last two World Cup ones. Second, several other countries have caught up.

The Dutch are a better team..not necessarily more or better talent.. but they are a better team..
I'm not anti womens sports either. Yep, I'm looking forward to PSU women's VB getting back in the national championship picture, and I used to follow PSU women's BB closely when Rene had it going great. And had high hopes for coach K to lead the team back in the the top 20. Also enjoy women's swimming, particularly at the olympics. But for actual professional sports, the specific league should either make it or not make it, based on their revenue. Player pay should be based on their revenue and expenses just like any other business, other than the government......... So I'm against womens soccer crying about equal pay. Women's softball players couldn't play for the Yankees so they don't get MLB pay, and why should they.....
A past USA team would’ve scored 6 or more goals against a team like Vietnam. The fact that they only scored 3 in that game told me a lot. My guess is that this team will lose to a Germany, England, Spain, Brazil, or even Columbia.
The equal pay issue is just..unbelievable.. can you imagine the WNBA .. though best in the World as well.. demanding the same pay as NBA players ? A total joke..but sponsors love this team..I think Bud Light may be a sponsor..
I prefer women’s beach volleyball, but now I wonder if that’s a lesbian sport like soccer and bball. 🤷♂️
This brand of soccer is so bad.. game is painful to watch..my sons 08 ECNL Team could make this a battle..

they looked really good last night in the second half. They outplayed the Dutch in the first half but gave up a goal to be down 1-0. But in the second half dominated play after one of the top US players (Lindsay Horan) got pissed off after a cheap shot that didn't get a yellow (and was her pro team teammate). Lets hope they found themselves. The Dutch were the team that was in the finals last WWC that the US defeated for the championship.

I thought that they played a decent game overall, except that their passing was very imprecise and they lost the time of possession. My main concern is that I don't think that this collection of players is going to be able to score more than one goal in most games against the real contenders. It also seems to me that Morgan isn't the same dangerous player that she used to be. However, they do become a more dangerous team when Lavelle plays, but she obviously still can't play a full game because she's coming back from an injury.
I totally agree but was happy with the second half. They've seemed to be tentative so far and in the friendlies. But in the second half, they got pissed that the Dutch were being so physical and they weren't getting yellow cards. I saw at least a half dozen times when Dutch players simply grabbed a US player from behind and threw them down. One actually grabbed a player's ponytail and yanked it causing the player to fall backward awkwardly. She got a kick but no yellow.
The US team needs to play with some anger and passion. they look like they are playing to not lose. their coach should be all over them today.
Except the soccer team is funded by the govt and subject to the government rules and not market demand like the WNBA. The govt just decided to ignore their own Title IX like rules. They should have been paid the same. Silly to force federally funded universities into providing same opportunity, etc, while avoiding it themselves.
There will never be “equal” pay in WNBA because the demand is simply not equal….and resulting sponsorships are not equal either. Women’s professional soccer will not be paid like MLS either and no law will be enacted to make it happen….just the laws of demand.
Tennis? The purses are largely the same for the grand slam events because people watch the women just as much as the men……though I haven’t yet figured out why they aren’t playing 5 sets in the GS events.

I do not believe that the US government has any involvement in funding the United States Soccer Federation
Unless I've misunderstood everything--always a possibility--I don't think that has anything to do with it. The unions for the USMTN/USWTN agreed to pool the prize money--the men didn't have to do to that nor should have but that's absolutely about profitability and value.
Same--I try every time with the WC and Olympics. Maybe it's a sport you had a play after the age of 10 to truly enjoy. I'm sure there's a lot of little things that others appreciate that I don't.
