Clarifications from 1st time poster and UM fan

You are way overplaying your sanctions. It hurt your depth when BB was on board. But any effects are long since past.

Look at the recruiting class with which Harbaugh was left (2015, Hoke's last class). Penn St. 14th, Michigan 37th. How is that a "full cupboard"?[/QUOTE

Nobody is that thick. C'mon. WE HAD NO LBs during our game that year. We are finally back up to 85 with kids actually being in the program longer than one year.

We can’t overplay the sanctions...the damage they did was way deeper than most posters would ever grasp. They don’t just magically disappear the year they’re pulled. Not to mention the damage to the brand caused by the scandal and the sanctions.

Whose fault was your lack of linebackers?

We had no QBs last year. There was some bad luck, but ultimately not having adequate replacements was our fault.

You know the answer to your own question....that’s why we talk about the effect of the sanctions. As far as your QB’s, you’d still have no QB’s if it weren’t for transfers and that should cause Michigan fans concern.

Love the rivalry. Love the hype. 2 ranked teams. Anything can happen.

But to make sure we are all on the same page about the past:

Big 10 Championship vs 3rd place: not really a coaching issue but rather a Big 10 tie breaker rule. Both teams had the same record. UM beat both PSU and Wisconsin (at Wisconsin) that year (which was the Championship game) Difference between um and psu wasn’t record or head-to-head - it was UM lost at Iowa, PSU lost to Pitt. So it was in conference vs. out-of-conference that made the difference.

Running up the score: running to the line of scrimmage to get off a play with under a minute left when up by 100 is different then throwing a pass when up by 100 with 8 minutes left. If you don’t see that, then you are a fan of your team but not a football fan.
So, help me understand.
Michigan would have won the conference championship if they had lost fewer conference games.
Wow, thanks, I never would have worked that out on my own.
You, brunetti and jimjim47 sure make UM fans look stupid.
Thank god for Anison......

Nope. McCaffrey (#5 pro style QB of 2017) could have started this year. Some think he has more upside than Patterson.

4 Big Ten Championships in 25 years is not great. But it is the same as Penn State.

We’ve only been in the conference for 25 years. And it took precisely 2 to go undefeated and take the trophy.

Your continued yapping just furthers the stereotype of annoying Michigan fans (Anison excluded). Just shut up already and salvage a shred of dignity while you still can.

Exactly. So your not so great and awesome after all. Hmmmm.
Heck we even had 7 years of sanctions that effected us and we are still tied. Wow. What the hell is Michigan’s excuse other than it cannot beat osu.

Making up fake numbers is not a great way to be taken seriously. The actual numbers are readily available.

Cupboard was not full.

Harbaugh inherited a 5-7 team. Franklin inherited a 7-5 team.

Harbaugh isn't great against the top 3 East division opponents either. He is only .400. But that is a lot better than .214.

Harbaugh is .000 vs your one true rival

Yep you had the one streak. Refs gave you two but it is in the books.

But I thought Michigan was so awesome. At least that is how they conduct themselves.

Their are stats like psu is the best in the last 50 years and Michigan number one overall.

Psu has a very good bowl record and Michigan bowl record is absolutely awful.

So the point is the season still has to play out and you have way more returning starters than we do this year so what will be both teams record. You lose a lot of good players this year and if you don’t win out, which you do control your own destiny at this point. Or will you choke again. It will be interesting to say the least.

Refs gave Ohio State the game in 2016. But I am not going to build a conspiracy theory around that.

Yes, Penn State does have an excellent bowl record while Michigan's is .456. You are ahead on that score.

Yes, our defense will lose a lot of good players next season. Just like they did last year. I am not worried about reloading under Don Brown.

Good point. Brown did a great job shutting Penn State down last year with a less experienced defense.

I looked at the 2015 (Harbaugh's first year) wiki page for Penn State. The players are listed but it doesn't indicate how many are scholarship players. There are way more than 85.

That recruiting class for Penn St had 25 players. Michigan's had 14. Those players would now be either seniors or redshirt juniors.

https://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/index.ssf/2015/05/penn_state_football_examining_1.html

Keep in mind also, that not only were we short of the 85 limit going into 2015, part of that number of scholarship players were either true freshmen, or former walk on players that were awarded scholarships. We were particularly thin at linebacker and offensive line. Anyone who thinks the sanctions did not affect PSU are not basing there opinion in reality. It is actually amazing we did not have a season worse than 7-5.

Talking with some buckeyes this am at the kitchen table and it will be interesting how the season plays out. Both psu and psu offense are in a funk and need to snap out of it.
Will psu return to is rpo self or played scared again against an aggressive defense. We did face a damn good dline last week so that will help. Will rahne take advantage of Michigan aggressive nature or will he play like he did against MSU and not exploit what the defense is giving him.
We will see. If psu offense plays well then we will win. It is simple as that. Our young defense has grown and each week keeps playing better so I’m not concerned there. Can our offense move the chains and score.

Penn State has had more recent success than Michigan by any measurable imaginable. It may be your year, I will give you that but to come here and act like you have been the more successful program is a joke. Last two years PSU has a B10 championship and a Fiesta bowl win UM has nothing. Also, we have beat OSU more over the last 15 years and have actually won the B10 more. UM's arrogance is completely unfounded, again this may be your year but until this point there is no question who the superior program on the field has been.

Most of these guys think that PSU is on par with Alabama, so take your replies with that grain of salt.

Wow, talking about attendance again. Why didn't you also bring up our 30 years of self imposed sanctions because of the stupidity of our athletic department. I know what we are, but most of you think you are better than what you are and always have.
