Conel tweeted

Mason wrestled well this season when given the opportunity.

Wrestled Chance pretty tough then finished his schedule with

Evan Wick then
the #2, 3, 4 finishers at 184 in 2018 (while weighing 168-170) and a very good wrestler in Caffey himself.

It's crazy but Mason isn't even a "big 165" if he weighs in at high 160s while knowing he doesn't have to cut. The experience he had wrestling those 184 pounders can only help him. Add some muscle and get to wrestle 165 or 174 and I can see him being great.

If nothing else, he's already one of the best Greco Roman wrestlers in the US.

Let’s not let them forget PD3. But that history has now been rewritten as Tom holding to his ethics and not allowing PD3 to join the team.
PD3 clearly states that he wasn't part of the wolfpack... he failed to join in.

I told Casey that Dunk, you and I would pretend to be Casey brothers (or in my case Uncle) and pick up that 25% so no Casey's won't count towards the scholarships. Don't tell Vodka though. The thought that knowledge might cause that head to explode is more than I could personally handle.
Perhaps we should hold a fundraiser

T-shirt sale in Minnesota next March?

To think, all this started with a Conel tweet.
(1) Any number of upset Iowa fans doesn't register, but to be honest it has to be a low number
(2) Cael knows what he's doing
(3) If you're ever in doubt that Cael knows what he's doing, see (2) above

Who is the wrestler IAChief is referring to that is a multi champ that he's implying wanted to go to Iowa and would have had they offered more money?

Not that Nolf silliness again (I’ve seen that suggested before)

Nolf to Iowa would be equivalent to putting the keys of a 1969 GT40 in the hands of one’s grandmom. An utter waste.

That's who I thought they were referring to but wasn't sure. It is a shame that Jason has had to be tortured for the last 5 years at a sub par university such as PSU

I always thought Nolf was really high on Cornell before he committed to PSU?

From the BSD report on his commitment: "Nolf is an outstanding student who was also considering Cornell and Stanford, and had an offer from Northwestern."

This is what Nolf said at the time when BWI asked him why PSU: "I look up to a lot of the Penn State guys and the way they wrestle. I like watching them wrestle and score a lot of points. That's kinda my style. I've developed that style after watching them. Yeah, I just like to dominate people." Nolf also said location "was a big factor and the fact that my parents can just drive up the road and see me wrestle. There are a lot of things that made me choose Penn State."

And this is from the Tribune Review:

As the list of Division I colleges that offered him scholarship money expanded to almost a dozen, Kittanning wrestler Jason Nolf continued to consider all options.

He refused to rush to a decision. He met coaches at his house, at camps, at wrestling club practices. Last weekend, he flew to the west coast to see Stanford in person.

And after much thought, he chose the NCAA’s current go-to destination for elite grapplers.

Nolf, a rising senior, verbally committed to three-time defending NCAA team champion Penn State Friday evening. A two-time PIAA Class AA champion with a career record of 132-1, he accepted a scholarship offer from the Nittany Lions over those made by Stanford, Iowa, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Lehigh, Cornell and others.

“It’s close to home,” Nolf said, “it’s where I have the best chance of becoming a four-time national champion, it’s a nice campus, and I have a lot of friends there.”

Jason had given an interview at some event during his JR year in which the interviewer asked what schools he was considering and Jason replied Cornell. Obviously that wasn't his final answer.

This meme pops up on Hawkeye Resistance every so often. Basically the story is this:
- Jason attended nationals at Des Moines.
- During the trip, Jason stopped to visit Iowa. (No kidding, Iowa City is on the way with an I-80 exit.)
- Jason took the obligatory pic at the Gable statue with his fist raised, and posted it on social media.
- OMG JASON NOLF IS COMING TO IOWA !!!!

What this story lacks is the fact that Jason committed on 7/19/2013 -- less than 3 weeks after recruiting opening day.
http://intermatwrestle.com/recruiting/commitments?page=5&sort=date&sort_dir=down&year=2014#tab

Ultimately Iowa's offer wasn't a factor -- otherwise he would've taken a planned official. But he canceled it. (History repeated itself -- Zain did the same thing one year earlier.)

But, hey, on 7/3/2013, Brands secured a commitment from the immortal Burke Paddock. He got his man a full 16 days before Cael got his!

So what you are saying, without a visit after July 1 the chances are very high scholarship money probably wasn't discussed. Unless offering over the phone is the Iowa way, or if it was discussed on the nationals stopover. Which of course would make Iowa's pursuit of Jason an example of a recruiting violation.

You guys have the uncanny ability to make a point in the most entertaining of ways.

Well done!

I'm not making accusations based on long leaps off short planks. That's Vodka's job.

I don't know for certain if Brands delivered the formal offer in person or mailed it after discussing by phone.

What I do know is that it didn't matter. Iowa couldn't match the non-financial benefits of Penn State.

HR can't get enough of this, the slush fund, or hands to the face. The whining is incessant.

Unfortunately, Gross> RBY and if we do bring him in RBY will have no choice.

Going on record, Im against bringing these guys in, i just think it looks bad, and some of the kids Cael made promises to may feel slighted. Do we REALLY need them?
There is no way psu is getting gross

What are the chances Brady B skips 157 and goes straight to 165? If his cut is as tough As some have suggested and Cenzo moves up for his final year (Wreck Hall Oly RS?) it would allow Cenzo to finish his career up a weight for a year. May be more comfortable for him and allow for some extra curricular fun.

For what it is worth, I have been told indirectly that it is fairly easy for Joe Lee to flex up and down in weight. He could potentially wrestle 157 - 174. But 165, being in the middle is most likely. No clue if he could do 157 long term. The last time I saw him was around Xmas and he didn't look big to me. Not like a guy carrying 15-20 extra pounds that would need a heavy cut.

Or 40 like Cenzo.

To be completely accurate, employees' kids get 3/4 tuition discount.

Point still taken.

My mom was a chef at Warnock. It was 75% off when I attended PSU in the late 90's, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford it. I had heard the discount was going away some years ago. I guess it's still in place?

There has been discussion of it going away. Not sure if it has happened. I have heard that if you were hired with that benefit you would still have it but new hires would not.
