Congrats from Iowa

Thanks for the post. The final score was surprising to everybody I think but really this game was reasonably competitive to the 4th quarter. Iowa was still in the fight until Beatherd's INT and the pass to Barkley put it out of reach.

Iowa is really not that far away IMHO. Being short a couple of players in key positions just prevents them from running the systems they run. They need two more receivers and one good rush DE, and hopefully an upgrade at one of the safety spots. The rest of the team looks pretty solid. Receivers not being able to get open or able to catch the ball -- that kills any offense. PSU had this problem in 2003-04 -- just not enough speed/hands at wideout. And that's when you can lose games 6-4.

Going into the game, I thought you'd win 24-10 or something like that. Shows what I know. Congrats on kicking our butts up and down the field. Nice win and good luck going forward.

Thank you for the good sportsmanship. I too thought this would be a close contest. I have always had great respect for Kirk Ferentz and he is all class in my book. Best of luck the best of the way and in every game with one exception (PSU).

Thinking about my road trip to Iowa City in 2017. Will Iowa be losing many key players from this year's squad?

On defense we lose King, Johnson and a couple of LB's. That will always hurts. Offense we lose our QB, RB, and best TE. But you really never know what the team chemistry will be year to year. Last year it was fantastic and it showed. This year, not so much. I think they spent all winter telling themselves how good they'll be this year.
