So true …. For me it’s going to be odd not ever seeing David in the crowd at Rec Hall
Is it too late to have Penn College or PSU Altoona apply for D1 status and have our NO 2's be coached by DT. I dream big. We'd probably come in 2nd.

I think Cenzo would be good and probably more long-term than Scott. However, Scott may bring in Forrest, so this could be part of the equation, plus he is very experienced. Wonder if Scott would take such a position as he would go from HC to AHC to AC. Probably a short-term rental, so is it worth it?

If anyone wants to run by the State College Goodwill store those 3 guys and their families probably dropped of about 40 garbage bags full of PSU wrestling clothes. 😁😫😩😢
That’s typical. Cenzo did it also when he left for Stanford. You don’t wear another school’s (employer) gear ever.

Does Jordan ever want to coach?
He’s talked about it a bit before. I think of Taylor-Dake-Burroughs-Snyder I believe Taylor would make the best college coach but there are obviously both Penn State biases and the bias of having seen his work with M2 kids at play.

I couldn't care less about the "good of the sport" and I truly don't believe any PSU fan when they say they're happy about this because this is "good for the sport". I also don't believe anyone who says their primary concern is "the good of the sport" when talking about anti PSU dominance, no they just don't want PSU to win and pretending they have any more noble intentions is laughable, so spare me.

Yikes! Exposed again! Yep, deep down I’m a bad guy. No matter how hard I try to lay on the sugar, everybody eventually figures me out.

Kennedy coached here and Gilman was in the NLWC. I'd expect another coach to take the place of Kennedy but someone in the Lion Universe... Molinaro would work if he doesn't join Taylor. Cenzo or Hall would be great, too. I'd love Scott but not sure he's a long term commitment.

You did spell it that way. That hire would please me.
Lots to replace at NLWC already, but I highly doubt Cael would hold back a guy that’s ready to start a coaching career. It was just throwing out a lightweight name that gets a lot of respect, but hadn’t been brought up.

Any particular reasons why Cenzo wouldn't be in the mix?
I would assume they are looking for someone to work with 149 and 157 as Kennedy did. Since Cenzo's walking around weight is significantly higher than that, probably not a good fit. Molinaro at least fits the size requirement.

DT needs a coach to work with the 165 and 174 pounders, probably not Molinaro. Cenzo would fit there.

I have a hard time seeing Frank taking a demotion from full assistant at ASU to take his old job at PSU as "volunteer assistant." I never really understood the nuances there though.

"Volunteer" assistant doesn't exist anymore.

It's a full time position now (can recruit off campus) - and you can pay whatever you want. Obviously, every school is different. Coleman actually got a raise to be the assistant at Okiest when he left UNC.

So, as of 2022 - Frank made $86,700. I would bet he'd make more as the 4th assistant at PSU.

Thanks for clarifying!

That's puzzling. I wonder what it was about KOT's game Cael didn't like? They seem like a match made in heaven to me. DT was my comparison for KOT as a prospect.
2 reasons:

1. didn't think he was athletic enough

2. Keegan didn't make the jump until just prior to his senior year. He talked about it in an interview with Bader actually. Askren had to tell him that he "was afraid to be great" and he didn't like it hard. So by the time he made that jump Carl already had Facundo committed. Link below, jump to 15:00

I really like Askren the coach. He seems to really get what motivates these kids and obviously has the wrestling mind and ability.

I don't get all the angst.

It's possible to be happy for David and wish him well while at the same time expecting PSU to dominate.

Cael is still the GOAT. He's not suddenly going to forget how to recruit or coach. I like total domination as much as anyone, but I'll be okay if we don't clinch the title on Friday nights all the time.

No matter what staff David assembles, CC&C is the 1st team in coaching.

Why would wanting to win by 100 every year make you a bad guy?

Why would wanting the rest of the country to catch up make someone a good guy?

Oklahoma State/Iowa/Iowa State fans didn't care at all that Penn State hadn't won for 60 years. And in a decade if Oklahoma State has won 8/10, their fans won't be worrying about parity. They'll love beating us every year, the more the merrier. Like Iowa fans, they're only collegial at all because they can't brag about anything at the moment.

Of course you get the angst. It's classic Penn State Pessimism.

Maybe it’s just me but I wanted us to continue to win by 100
100?

Are you telling me you wouldn't like:
1. PSU - 190
2. OK State - 62
...
6. Iowa - 39

Yup. Queue up that 2010 Iowa blog story again with them laughing at us. The fortunate things for us is that we’ve got Cael who will not ignore the threat DT poses (like Iowa largely patronized Cael as a coach), and we’re in the middle of the most talent rich area by far.

I just wish I had Terry Pegula money. I’d be there coming over the top of Richison with wheelbarrows of financial support
