Edinboro Open

Ryder has been 80KG for a while (since 2022 when he completely shut out Mirasola in the finals) He's young but his build might indicate he's done growing. I think he wrestled up at 182 for the challenge but didn't need to cut at all for it. Good chance he is a career 174.

That’s awesome Ryder can go 174
On the eligibility file he is listed at 184 with Barr

Can’t wait to see him vs Facundo if Carter doesn’t come back
Shouldn't be a surprise. Ryder went at 80 kg (176 lb) at the U17 Nationals in April 2023. But agree, this is good.

I was going off the the eligibility tracker on this page , maybe it should be updated since he has been going 176 since April of 23

Thx mScoreley Can’t wait to see him vs Facundo

He will have already been in the room for a year. Much like Nick Lee, Haines and Kasak did.
If he's winning the spot, you run him.
While that is true, I really think Facundo is going to come back from his year at NLWC a couple levels up, so "winning the spot" is not going to be a given.

Well, With the log jam we are managing I certainly think Cael leans redshirting where ever practical.

Levi, MM and Facundo all had shirts available this year so he could clearly go with the best man wins.

If Ryder proves better and doesn't take a shirt, it would seem highly likely Facundo portals out, likely back to Michigan, than wait yet another year to hope to beat the same kid he can't next fall?

The year after gets far too complicated to speculate, but I have little doubt Facundo will be a solid AA next year (likely even better), regardless of his freestyle results this year, and Ryder is close to a lock for using his redshirt.

If Im Ryder, after spending a year in the room already, I'm throwing my hat in the ring. Far from a lock he shirts IMO.
To be clear, I’m not sure he’s actually able to be in the PSU room. He can’t be in there with the college team and because of residency requirements he may not be allowed at NLWC practices. But I’m not 100 percent sure of that. I know he moved but I don’t know if you have to have lived there for an extended period of time .

I'm not sure how long he's been in NLWC, think more time has been spent with DT.

Ryder can attend NLWC practice. The USA Wrestling requirement is < 250 miles from home address to RTC Zip Code. Ryder's HS is 214 mi from PSU. As long as he lives within 36 miles of his high school, he's good.

Also, the distance requirement is waived once the student-athlete signs his national letter of intent. This enabled Nick Lee's participation with NLWC.

See Section D here:

Agreed that M2 is the primary focus. NLWC is an option.
